Hello experts. I have a 1.5Kva inverter. Can I use a small freezer with input power of 122w on it? I put it on while every other thing is off and it works fine, but I am concerned it may just be wrong. I have attached the ratings of the freezer.

codedname:Your 1.5Kva is 1.2 kw. As long as it can handle the surge it would work. I don't know what else you have connected. If they are less than half the inverter capacity combined with the freezer I will leave them on. Here is the important caveat!!!!!!!!!!!!! How much storage do you have? Arnod007: Firstly,was this the pattern when it was newly installed? If no,which is most likely,then your battery may be depreciating fast.You can test this by fully charging it,and then run some appliances on it over some hours just the way you used to and compare the discharge rate vis-a-viz when it was newly installed.If the answer to all these are true.How many ba3 connected together?In series or parallel?If yes,you may need to check individual ba3,by using your multimeter to check individual voltages.One love |

codedname: As far as you dont hear a terrible noise on start up of your inverter on switching on the freezer,no problems.With the power rating on your name plate,the initial power surge on start up should be about 5 x 122w=610w,offwhich your inverter of 1.5kva which would be 1200w after energy conversion,is capable of withstanding it.Note that,this 610w will be startup power,which will thereafter decline to 122w,which you have on your freezer nameplate.Mind you,hope you have enough battery bank to store enough energy as to be able to use it efficiently.If not,you need to and as well have solar panels and charge controller connecred to it.Enjoy 1 Like |

Arnod007: Mercury tubular battery is a flooded (wet) cell battery and is not maintenance free. You shoud find a hydrometer to test the sulphuric acid in it as a first check. Secondly, get a multimeter and check its voltage after the battery charge is depleted. Then check voltage during charging and when fully charged. 3 Likes |

Depending on your inverter/charger settings, low battery or discharged battery should be around 11.3v for a 12v battery while fully charged should be about 12.7v. During charging, your charger should deliver anything from 13.5-15.9v. If your inverter depletes your battery less than 11v, the life cycle of your battery will be affected as batteries do not like being depleted beyond some point. 10.5v will be a seriously discharged battery. 3 Likes |
