I had a Pretty terrible experience, this time it was my mom, she had a burst appendix and had to go for surgery, they kept tossing her about, and the rude nurses were just nothing to write about, in fact every staff of Gbagada General Hospital will rot in hell for premeditated Murder. We finally moved her to a private hospital and she got the best treatment , for which I was thankful for. GOVERMENT HOSPITALS AR USELESS!!.. I REPEAT GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS ARE USELESS. The department in Nigerian hospitals that doesn't go on strike is the mortuary.

I have said it many times here in this forum that it's better to consult the native medical practitioners than to surrender yourself to those quack and careless half-baked doctors we have in Nigeria, most especially the ones in government employ. They are local champions and CAN'T practice overseas because their licenses will be seized in addition to jail term from patients' litigation against them. There are genuine, careful and well bred ones but they are too few. Sorry Op, my father died almost same way. UNTH Enugu will shock you more!

I had a similar experience 5 years ago wit my dad,he has kidney problem.it took d doctor 3 hours to attend to him,and he gave him series of test to run n another appointment which was two week away frm dat day. Luckily for me I met my old classmate,she laughed wen I explained the situation to her n asked if I really love my dad.she advised I take him away immediately.which I did.thk God for her my dad lived for another 2years before he died 2year ago.May his soul rest in peace

I remember wn my sis needed and urgent surgery.she was brought in arund 9am, dem jst dump qm der till 10pm.dis was sumone unconscious.tank God she survived

So sad. Also lost my dad last year, similar circumstances...in a private hospital. He wouldn't have passed on if he'd had better care but we are Nigerians, we are used to taking shít and can't do anything about it.

So so sorry about the loss of your dad.God will comfort you. For that hospital called Lasuth, their negligence and non-chalant attitude is ridiculous. we have a health sector in this country where life is not valued. May God help us..

I had the same experience with my dad at UNTH Enugu. I will still file a petition against one house officer Dr. Igwe Grace at ward 4. Our health sector needs total overhauling.

OP , I read every word of your write up. Sorry for your loss. The country have failed especially in health and education sector. The decay is so much that we can't salvage it unless God himself intervenes.

As a remediation, health workers should be paid well. We want them to perform yet they are limited interms of subtance. To touch a sick patient or someone with an impediment is not a joke.

These MHO are prone to so much hazards that people barely factor in and expect wonders from them.

I strongly support the motion that it's their call of duty but inasmuch we are willing to cast them to the wild we should be kind enough to protect them like a mother hen.

I am very saddened by your experience.I cant imagine how long health care services have been this horrible.I hear a lot of people complain about their bad experiences at Government hospitals but never imagined it was this terrible.

Sadly our leaders and politicians are ignorant of these practices since they do not patronize the hospitals.How can a policy be more important than saving a life at a time of critical emergency.

I can now understand why some of my dad's septuagenarian friends are unwilling to relocate to Nigeria despite the fact that they prefer the environment here to their abode overseas.
My heart felt condolences.
I have since lost hope that government can adequately enforce good practices in our health sector.I am however encouraged that you found the strength to narrate your experience and provide pragmatic solutions.
If the government cant live up to expectations, we will explore all other channels.The World Health Organization, the United Nations and the International Community should be alerted on how our life saving institutions have become death traps.

My brother I could feel ur pain as I was reading bit by bit ur ordeal, sometimes last year I was in ur shoes, my mum was admitted in a govt. Hospital in kaduna and due to their negligence I lost my mum. So sad to be a Nigerian
