not directly at least.

But its not the decison that bothers me. I'm just annoyed that I didn't stay at home today. I thought remain would win, and we would all carry on as normal.

Therese a lot going today though....it would have been nice to relax on the couch and just follow, instead of minimising my browser window at my desk cheesy

Tbh only voted at the last minute. Same here I thought we would stay as Brits are usually opposed to change. Either way I am not too fussed. The UK will do well with or without the EU.

What I find intersting however is that amongst my black and Ethnic minorities circle of friends, I was in the minority that voted to remain. Their reason for doing so was that European Immigrants were stealing all the jobs whilst putting a strain on resources(NHS,housing and school). Now the latter part I get but the former has me baffled.

Looool....You should have booked a day off in advance.

Biafrans should organise themselves first and show they are capable of choosing good leaders.

It would be a shame to hand Biafra over to the Orji Uzor Kalus, Wikes, Amaechis, Ikpeazus, Iboris, Dicksons, Ubah brothers, Tompolos and Atekes of this world.

Yup i think...They used Madrid as an example..
Non eu players there are James, Danilo, casimero.. if Britain exit from Eu, then Bale will be a non eu player.
Same as other players from Britain.
in this case madrid will have to let go of any of those afformentioned player.

The brexit will also mean, premier League club cannot sign players who are under 18years.

This is true...
Biafra are fighting for their own nation, same with niger delta avengers.
The question of who will lead them is the koko.

I'm sure some from Anambra will prefer an Anambrian as president, Some Imo will prefer an imolite same with Ijaw/Calabar etc..

Great Britain is to leave the European Union,
plunging the country into uncertain political,
financial and social terrain, but sport too
faces an unclear future.
While the ramifications for the country – and
indeed the wider continent – are left mostly
to guesswork, calculating the consequences
on sport also presents a host of difficulties.
Indeed, in January, Karren Brady, West Ham
United’s vice-chairman, wrote a letter to the
chairmen of every senior professional club in
England, Scotland and Wales, claiming the
UK "cutting ourselves off from Europe would
have devastating consequences".

Professional Footballers’ Association
chairman, Gordon Taylor, who may believe
Brexit will enhance English football, making
it easier for clubs to develop home-grown
talent.
One of the most common grievances with
millennial Premier League football has been
the influx of foreign talent swamping the
English game and pushing young, locally-
based talent down the pecking order.
Additionally, Brexit presents the possibility
that the Premier League may struggle to
attract the sort of television rights revenue
of yesteryear. Next season, £5bn is set to
flood through the English game but leaving
the EU presents problems going forward.
Geey added: "They are happy with things as
they are, but they could be affected by
future legislation when it comes to selling
rights to EU countries if the commission
feels there are competition issues for EU
citizens."
Richard Scudamore, the Premier League
chairman, came out in defence of the
Remain camp earlier this week, arguing that
it would be "incongruous" for him to back
the UK leaving.
Speaking on Radio 5 live he said: "There is
an openness about the Premier League
which I think it would be completely
incongruous if we were to take the opposite
position.
"Nobody bears the scars more than me of
having to go and negotiate in Brussels and
try and organise things a little bit in our
interests in terms of the European machine.
"Ultimately you can't break away, you can't
just pull out, you have to get in and
negotiate and try and organise and try and
influence."

www.theweek.co.uk/premier-league/70125/eu-referendum-would-brexit-destroy-the-premier-league

“What will happen is that all our
sporting bodies will have to sit down,
look at all their rules and decide
whether to emulate what they already
have in relation to European
nationals, i.e. Give them preferential
treatment, or do we fit the European
nationals into the rules we currently
have in the UK or do we want to write
completely new rules?” Maria Patsalos,
a Sports Immigration Partner at
Mishcon de Reya LLP, said. “It is
unlikely in football for instance that
European nationals will have the same
freedom as they have now if Britain
votes to leave the EU.”
In that scenario, Premier League clubs
could be forced to pay more as Dr
Babatunde Buraimo, a senior lecturer
in sports economics at the University
of Liverpool, argues. “Clubs will be
limited to hiring higher-calibre
players from highly Fifa-ranked EU
countries,” he said. “If the Premier
League is limited to these players, this
will increase the values, in terms of
transfer fees and wages, of acquiring
proven and established EU players.
Missing out on rising talent [such as
Kante] will be one of the drawbacks.”

It is not just football that will be
affected. Under the terms of the
Cotonou Agreement and the Kolpak
Ruling in 2003, sportsmen from
Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Group
of States (ACP) enjoy the same rights
as EU players. This particularly applies
to cricket and rugby union, where
many players from South Africa,
Caribbean and the Pacific Islands
have come to play in the English
domestic leagues.
Several have gone to represent
England. For 11 years between 2004
and 2015 encompassing 139 Tests,
England started a match with a South
African-born player in their team
such as Andrew Strauss and Kevin
Pietersen. The English rugby union
team, too, has come to rely upon a
large percentage of foreign-born
players, from Mike Catt through to
Manu Tuilagi.

Trust me!

That being said, the way the nigerian political system is setup to prevent the emergence of good leaders, whilst keeping the bad leaders firmly in power.

I still don't know what ideologies PDP or APC stand for, or where they sit on the political spectrum. In truth, they probably have no real idealogies, and reliant on using bags of rice to sway the votes of the hungry, rather than intelligent discussions and political manifestos.

I think there's been a conscious decision to keep the general population of the country poor and under-educated, so that it's easier to turn up to a political rally, address the give the hungry populace bags of rice and garri, and watch them start chanting "shange" and "sai baba".

These hungry folks cant think about the long term, they're all about the 'right now'. That's why every four years, we see the usual spectacle of chief xyz leading his supporters to defect to APC or PDP or whatever new combination of alphabets at the time.

Even if you hold a referendum today, the fools will first kill themselves at the polling booths and snatch all the ballots. Then they will release the results as pro-Biafra: 90%, anti-Biafra: 92%. Both sides will then hypocritcally accuse each other of rigging. One side will claim to have won. The other side will sue him to court. The judge will say that a third guy won...then all of them will go to appeal court, only to find that a fourth party has filed a different court case under the name of the first party.

While this is going on, the poltical section of nairaland will fill up with ediots souting up APC, up PDP, and Fayose is my role model.

It's just madness

@ Raumdeuter,

See what I was saying yesterday about the EU certification being a stumbling block to exporting to the EU. They call it a free market, but they actually close the market using consumer-protection legislation designed to prevent free trade but sold as "safety ceritifcation". It is one of the reasons Africa cannot break the EU market, and Britain could find itself in a similar position.

theoneJabulani:

But if the UK leaves the EU, "you would no longer be able to sell into other European markets, not because you face a small tariff but because you'd have to go through another set of safety certifications. This kind of thing would be repeated in every industry you can think of."
Critics say the economic effects could be large.

Yh but the Individuals doing those kind of jobs are Illegal Immigrants and as far as I know, they are not allowed to vote. Unless they are voting on the behalf of their family members.

Looool....Well no comment grin.

They are mostly professionals. The more reason why I am baffled. Professionals in the UK would always have a job imo as long as you don't stay stagnant. Constant improvement is key.

I don't think it will play out this way.
First the referendum should be for all regions, not just an area. This will present opportunity for these sub-groups to form alliance with any other each feel comfortable with or simply stay on their own. The main clog in wheel of progress for Nigeria today is distrust & this breeds placing incompetence ahead of merit. I can't even begin to think countless examples of this paddy paddy over merit in the small space I manage.

Secondly when these smaller groups form alliances with those they feel share same ideas these 'godfathers' will die a natural death! The new nations will immediately be in direct healthy competition with each other & there will always be business relations between them. Acceptance is easier because nobody is staring @ his neighbor suspiciously & with contempt.

Here it will be difficult to play the religious or tribal card. A man from Badagry can team with another from Osogbo & tell a kingpin like Tinubu to go to hell for the good of their unborn generation. Same will apply against an Amaechi or a Tompolo.

Any sabotage will be met with co-ordinated resistance from all in one voice.

Not like we have today, some group of soldiers somewhere loyal to Boko haram's cause within same encampment & very ready to sabotage missions without thinking twice cuz it's 'our' people while another group of soldiers in same camp with morales above rooftops eager to move into northern cities, Boko Haram or not, to exert some form of 'revenge'. The same happens in the East, South & Middle Belt.

How can things work that way??

Do you have the opportunity to relocate? You need not need to go do Dirty Jobs. Have you looked at Canada? There are ways of hustling your way there, usually through school, then continuing in a professional field.

Comot mind for saving N100k per year if you can relocate. N100k that was worth £400 last year is now worth only £230.

My brother, the average Nigerian man is so far removed from these scenarios you are painting here.

Funny enough, the regions were better organised in 1966.

As things stand, being a believer in Federalism, I trust Federal Govt more than State Govt.

State Governors currently have all powers of Federalism except Police, Army and Fiscal Federalism.

Regardless, revenue allocations under the current structure are not far from what they would be under Fiscal Federalism. The States have mismanaged what they have received completely. The only Govts guaranteed to pay wages these days are Federal Govt and about 6 states of the Federation.

We can't be screaming Federalism and holding the centre to account when we have not impacted our local Govts that have failed us.

They have failed in every aspect handed to them, from sanitation to security to fiscal management of what they have given.

Niggas like Tinubu ain't even our problem. He instituted the only Govt running on Federalist principles today - and that is Lagos State. If Lagos gets no Federal allocation for the next 5 years, they will be alright because their IGR dwarfs Federal Allocation by 3 to 1.

We need to hold our localities to account and get ourselves organised and accountable first.

I wont convince anyone to leave for America or stay in Nigeria but your personal experience would tell you whether to stay or leave.

For me as at when I left, I was doing very well by Nigerian standards but I just felt there are some part of it that I cant do for long else I wont live long
