Let's hope he making the right decision. because if not he SHOULD also be by buhari if he underperforms

Re: IGP Idris Wants Retirement Of 30 Senior Police Officers by Nobody: 11:18am On Jun 27, 2016
Why were his seniors in service, who are beyond him based on merit and years of experience ignored for the position of IG ?

Why do we jump chains of command in this country and select someone we like ?

This is nepotism and it discourages meritorious enterprise. I feel the almighty President had already decided to retire those people but was just shopping for anyone, that will be ready to do his bidding as IG.

I really hope we all survive the in-experienced experimentation of this wonderful administration that was foisted on us by the ignorant majority. There is more efforts today in retrenchment and replacement of people in governance than the governance itself.

Very shameful to be a Nigerian this past year.

Just like Nollywood, when script is given to you, the director expects you to interpret the character in that script very well and if at any point you start forming superstar, the role to that blockbuster movie will be given to another artist on standby..
Our new I.G is only acting according to the script and at such, you won't blame the actor for his acts cos he's just acting..

Another ethnic cleansing. it's either we renegotiate our union or we part ways forever. enough of this mutual suspicious.

shut up. This is military affairs. Not village meeting........................ By right, all senior officers are suppose to retire immediately their junior becomes boss.

I don't know why everything is politicize in Nigeria along ethnicity. Any senior officers that have not tendered his retirement request voluntarily is a saboteur, greedy and mischievous.

Even a 6 years old child should be aware of this.

If we don't restructure this country we are heading for the rocks. This is clear. People said he was appointed on merit and not geography but he is now acting on the same sentiments we criticize. Its like trying to square a circle. Okay, if his appointmemt was meant to reposition the force, removing hands more experienced than himself is what, mbok. For heavens sake everyone in every work in life put people more experienced than them in positions of greatest advantage. It is the vestages of colonialism (that I always say we have to rid ourselves off to survive) that ENSURES AND REQUIRES that a leader must be one of greatest all round competencies and that everyone he leads must be 'dumber', less competent than him.

I know some may say it will undermine command and control and I will reply this: The police must drop its tag 'force' and embrace intellectualism which has no sentiments and pulls no rank. It is time the police embraces 'specialists' (not in its 'rank and file - military terminology) but in its 'employment'. The police doesn't need to retire them but restructure its operations to accomodate them in areas of 'specialty' where rank has no meaning but competencies and results. There are task forces to be set up, there are sub-organisations to be created to confront a myriad of intractible problems: insurgencies, militancy, cyber crime, plenty. Create new challenges that will remove them from the spot light, from parades and patrols, marching bands and pagentry and from their uniforms into suits and coveralls. Then you can exploit their experiences without hurting regimental sensibilities that to me are just archaic and quite frankly useless.

These officers that will be retired, are the last set of senior policemen that were trained abroad, or have gone for short courses.
...how has their training improved the Nigerian Police Force?

That is the old regimented way of thinking. Understandable but useless. It has not helped Nigeria in any way, just protected croniism and most of the negativity you see in our institutions, not to talk about the financial cost of retiring people before their time like changing your oil before it is due. Your engine loves it but....its just stupid.

This is normal! Any AIG or DIG who has been appointed before the new Acting IG should retire..... they where there before him so he cannot head those that are ahead of him. By promotion.....that's why I like Nigerian Police Force your connections determine your promotions not years of experience

"power" is the word. He is now better than those he is requesting for their requirement. Those joining police I greet oo. Some of you will not spend a year before waterloo because when the head is sick, boko haram and militants even armed robbery will thrive. Pray before you go out and even while in.
Re: IGP Idris Wants Retirement Of 30 Senior Police Officers by Nobody: 12:23pm On Jun 27, 2016
He's simply doing what his paymasters appointed him to do; were he the one who also wrote the Presidency for the recent retirement of some top officers of army, Air Force, Navy and others? Forget, Buhari is doing his things, they just want to use the man as a facilitator but unfortunately to them we are now more familiar with their style.
