So true.

That 1999 Camry V6 engine (tiny light) dealt with me.
Accumulated sludge despite regular oil change & had to replace the engine.

am currently driving a 01 v6 camry, does it have d same issues. though I use mobile 1 engine oil.

I use the 1.8T I4 engine and have no problem whatsoever with it. Just do your REGULAR oil changes and you are fine. A powerful engine though..
what type of oil do you use? I am using a VW 1.8T I4 engine. I am having issues with the turbo

bro my 1999 model is going to 400,000 mileage now no issue! No smoking till now,but why do you hav to use mobile 1 on a small car like that?do you really know the consequence of it any day some one else mistakingly use a normal mobile oil on the engine?that will be the end of the car engine ooooo, mobile 1 is made for a high perfomance engine like jeeps ,v8 vehicles, well since you ve stated using it already don t even change it to normal engine oil ooo, meanwhile its still same v6 with 99 model and sienna bus too
Re: Here Are 8 Engines You Should Avoid by Nobody: 8:27am On Jul 03, 2016
1MZ ws designed for sienna 1998 and avalon 1998 ND camry. 2MZ came for other subsiquent years, I drive an Avalon 98 and this problem just occured yesterday that almost knocked the engine

There is nothing wrong with the VQ35DE engine fitted inside the murano

While the CVT might post issues for those who are not exposed to its realities, that would maybe come up on a "transmissions to avoid" thread

That's not relevant right now. What's more important is the fact that the piece was highly educative to folks like myself. I didn't see the other piece but i'm seeing this one now and that's more important.

I think the OP deserves credit for enlightening car owners with this vital information!

All 3.0 V6 for these model years u quoted above are 1mz-fe engines

Difference is the vvt-i dat some models av...those ones av shiny engine cover and not the dull black cover of early years non vvt-i engines

2MZ isn't 3.0 but 2.5 litre V6

I cant say more for the early Nissan murano... but the major mistake people made with murano is the Gear oil. People use regular oil for it and kill the car. When you use a Murano designed oil I doubt there will be much issues or any.

I beg to disagree... kazim the mechanic has tampered with it. Drove 05 and now 010 no issues I can't even remember when last it visited a mechanic in 2years.. apart from oil change and the air bag light that came up and was fixed with a scanner.
Re: Here Are 8 Engines You Should Avoid by Nobody: 9:10am On Jul 03, 2016
From my experience the reason we have sludge build up in engines is because of using the wrong engine oil and waiting too long before changing engine oils.

There are other engines u didn't mention like the

Tsi and fsi engines used on vw and audi products starting from 2006 these engines have a short life and are notorious for sludge build up and failing.

Engine used on the landrover discovery and freelander just to mention but a few.

I think aluminium engines are problem prone, especially when you open them.

MOBIL 1 is 5w30 Guage and it is synthetic not mineral based. It can withstand higher engine temperatures without breaking down its molecular structure or losing lubricating properties. Mobil 1 is what is best for any petrol 4/6/8 cylinder sedans.

you can change your oil to Mobil 1 if you have been using something else before. Just pray the previous mineral-based oil has not caused wear and tear of your engine or else MOBIL 1 would leak out through your seals and any tiny gaps, and you would have oil leaks.

Mobil 1 even helps to clean you engine, and regular use would help remove sludge and prevent further sludging of your engine. Na water go dey commot for your tail pipe.
Thank me later

Very True my bro. there are two models of 1MZ-FE, both are 3.0L V6 The early ones without VVT-I found is 1998-2000 Sienna, 1997-2003 Camry V6.
The ones with VVT-I are found on 2002-2003 Lexus ES300, 2001-2003 Highlander, 2001-2003 Sienna, and 2000-2004 Avalon.

someone said 3MZ-FE is 3.0L found on Lexus RX300. that's not true. 3MZ-FE is a 3.3L V6 engine with VVT-I found on 2004-2006 RX330,2004-2010 Sienna, 2004-2006 ES330, 2004-2007 Highlander and some 2005-2006 Camry V6.

also the old 4runner I think has a 3.6L V6 engine not 3.5L V6. The most common 3.5L V6 engine Toyota have is 2GR-FE which was used in 2007-2016 Camry V6,2005-2016 Avalon, All models of RX350, ES350, 2011-2016 Sienna and 2008-2016 Highlander V6

Interesting read. I had to pack up my VW Passat 30V V6. I was almost going mad with it. Each time I travel with it with my family anxiety almost consumes me until I get home. The entire engine and electrical works in that model is problematic. This thread is good to warn potential car buyers. Plus, minus, I think Toyota cars are still better with our roads and economy.
