If it's really an eastern brown snake, then it is extremely venomous.

what are u saying, mamba is d second most venomous snake in d world after inland taipan, rattle snake even made top five cos it releases a high volume of venom
Mambas have types just as cobras and rattlesnakes the eastern diamond is the craziest (I think)

snakes re still deadly even when dead,a bone from a dead one is highly toxic and poisonous,a little prick into the skin can send u to an early grave.I will advice u mate, mind how ure playing with that things head.

OP, better listen to this advice. Fangs work like hypodermic needles. They just need to enter your skin to do the damage. Whether the snake puts it into you or you put your finger on it, the effect is the same.

hold up! are you guys all saying there are snakes that are non venomous?

if they are, what do they do, just live and be slimy? the first thing i think when i hear snake is venomous, so if they are some non venomous ones, it's disappointing.

No time to be assessing the fangs and diamond shaped eyes before killing.

I'm still an animal rights activist though, buh I don't know of any endangered snake species currently grin

Judging from a generalized classification, it's non-venomous cause of its rounded eyes, compared to the diamond shaped eyes of venomous species.
Again, it's just a rough guess.

There are actually more non-venomous snakes than the venomous ones. Only about 15-20 percent of snakes are venomous.

GogetterMD:

We sure have a lot of venomous species in Nigeria. Mambas, Vipers and cobras, rattle snakes etc. They are all around the country.
I also didn't notice the fangs in this snake of yours, it's either absent or extremely short

Correction

Rattle snakes are indigenous to the Americas only.

Am very ultra busy and incapacitated now but I do plan in future to have an animal santuary.

Let me know when you do. I'll give my support and any ideas I get freely.

But what you can do is to identify the snakes present. In Nigeria we don't develop anti-snake venom. Ask at teaching hospitals and maybe think of contacting foreign bodies in South America (they have the most snakes and most development). Being them here, come to a lab (try in a university) and reverse-engineer the medicine. Produce and sell shots to villagers for N1000. Something affordable and try and get subsidies from WHO (they are in Nigeria).
