If your right eye offend thee, cut it off . It simply that though it is right for you to behold everything you want to see but all things are not expedient , therefore do not look at what will make you commit sin . As if your eye is not there at that very moment. It doesn't mean that you pluck out any part of the body

its a figurative statement, meaning if the thing that will stop you from getting to heaven apeals to your eye, it may what you like watching, or what you may be looking up to in your mind, and it contrary to the word of God, stop watching it, so also to your hand, if its what you like carrying with your hand, it may be bribe, immorality, and its contrary to God's commandments cut that action off so u can get to heaven!

There's this movie I saw a while ago, The Boss, Melissa McCarthy was the lead role. She said something in scene 2, where she was giving a seminar, she said and I quote "... number two, you do not let other people drag you down... they are anchor in your life that you do not want; cut them loose and sail off!".
It figurative and doesn't mean you go all Samurai and literally cut them in two or pieces.
So I would define the offending eyes and hands as those characters, habits, lifestyle, friends and associates that might be anchor that would drag you down from reaching your, our Destination to be cut down!
God bless!
cool

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable

By implication whatsoever will hinder us from making heaven,be it habit, fashion, diet, vocation we should do away with such

jesus is a man of divine wisdom and this verse means many things but it all boils to if something/someone that is so dear/important to you would disallow or hinder you to be in fellowship with God and inherit His kingdom, its better we do away with such things or persons for its better we sacrifice that thing/person n inherit heaven, or we go to hell with that thing or person

It's talking about MAKING SACRIFICES like quitting a high paying job if it makes you compromise, avoid friendship or relationship that leads you to sin, discipline yourself or your body to abstain from sins......

Like many things Jesus said, he was speaking in parables. Remember that most people were hard working manual workers then, parts of the body were indeed very precious, just like now.

Losing hands and legs in a time without technology for travelling, farming, braille and so on was almost like death sentence from destitution.

In essence, no matter how important or pleasurable the things are that make you sin and separate you from God, you should give them up. So we must pay a price and make important sacrifice to stay on the path of righteousness.

Well, I once read a book written by one of the christian leaders. He said, in hell, he saw pple being hung by a specific organ of their body, he made some enquiries from the person tormenting them and the man said, they are being hung by those organs cos it was that organ that made them sin when they were on earth

So I guess that passage is telling christians that they can still make heaven, no mata how well they'v sinned on earth. The only thing you need to do is cut off that part of your body that is making you sin before rapture comes
At the bolded, please ignore. There's no such thing as that. REVELATION gave us graphic details of what would happen and how people would be punished.Anything contrary is regarded as lies, because that would mean God lied on His word, and I know God can never tell lies because he is not man. So that brings us to one person - the said Pastor.

Value the kingdom more than the treasure. Jesus use the valuable place in our body to tell us how important the kingdom is.

Note, only people with spiritual eeyesight and with indwelling of the Holy Spirit can ever understand the truths embedded in the Bible.

Jesus is further telling us that non-perishable body awaits us in heaven even if we loose this physical body to the blood-sucking world and the evil people therein.

it means flee from any form of evil appearance,it means we all have a price to pay, we all have thorns in our flesh, do you know what it is, once you know what it is, then you'd have to sacrifice it for your salvation,I'm talking to Hebrews tho

And when u see people with satanic agendas running to devour your physical body, rejoice because of the awaiting glory in heaven...a case study of biblical Stephen...Acts 7:55.

It means if you have family members, friends or ambitions that will keep you from living your life as a child of God, please remove them. Cos it is better to experience or live lower or have fewer friends or relatives than you would want to and still make heaven

Its simple, anything that will hinder u from making heaven; it maybe something so dare to u, caught it off not necessarily ur physical body
Re: What Does Matthew 5:29-30 Really Mean? by Folzye(m): 8:07am On Jul 17, 2016
What i think is this, ur eyes sees something and evil is ignited in your heart....your friends are saying something and evil is ignited in your heart from what your ears have heard...your friends ask you to come to a place with them and with your leg evil is perpetrated, even your hand goes arround touching what it is evil...You are asked to cut off from those sources of evil, the passage is telling you to disjoint urself from such an association so that they won't drag you to hell and after you have done that discipline yourself such that if you are now the source of your own sin/evil do all you can to resist such temptation in the name of God and to confess your sins to your father and ask him to strengthen you against all odds so you can make it to heaven...the only place ISIS, GOVERMENT, ECONOMIC HARDSHIP, UNEMPLOYMENT does not exist and yes One more thing....have u ever experienced absolute PEACE before? find your way there at all cost just to experience that.

It simply means we should try as much as possible to do without all that causes us to sin . avoid and do away way anything that would cause you to sin .
