Put aside what put you into sin. Sacrifice of one sinful act is better than being in hell cos of one sin. It therefore means 99% righteousness and 1% sin could condemn one. So put aside the ONE!!!

Nehemiah 8:4-, talks about worshipping God with a face down. It was an act of honouring God, and not a Jewish tradition in any form, and God does stipulate it that ur worship can only be acceptable by u worshing God with face down or face on the ground...

It means that Matthew 5:29, 30.
In jesus Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gave sound counsel on morality. He knew that our imperfect body members can have a dangerous influence on us. Jesus therefore said: “If, now, that right eye of yours is making you stumble, tear it out and throw it away from you. For it is more beneficial to you for one of your members to be lost to you than for your whole body to be pitched into Gehenna. Also, if your right hand is making you stumble, cut it off and throw it away from you. For it is more beneficial to you for one of your members to be lost than for your whole body to land in Gehenna.”—Matt. 5:29, 30.

. How can our “eye” or “hand” cause us to “stumble”?

The “eye” spoken of by Jesus represents the power or ability to focus our attention on something, and the “hand” relates to what we do with our hands. If care is not exercised, these body parts may cause us to “stumble” and cease ‘walking with God.’ (Gen. 5:22; 6:9) When tempted to disobey Jehovah, then, we need to take strong action, figuratively tearing out an eye or cutting off a hand.

What can help us to avoid sexual immorality?

How can we restrain our eyes from concentrating on immoral things? “A covenant I have concluded with my eyes,” said the God-fearing man Job. “So how could I show myself attentive to a virgin?” (Job 31:1) Job was a married man who was determined not to violate God’s moral laws. That should be our attitude whether we are married or single. To avoid sexual immorality, we need to be guided by God’s holy spirit, which produces self-control in those who love God.—Gal. 5:22-25.

To avoid sexual immorality, we might do well to ask ourselves, ‘Do I allow my eyes to arouse in me an appetite for immoral material readily found in books, on television, or on the Internet?’ Let us also remember these words of the disciple James: “Each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death.” (Jas. 1:14, 15) In fact, if any individual dedicated to God “keeps on looking” with immoral motives at someone of the opposite sex, he needs to make drastic changes comparable to tearing out the eye and throwing it away.—Read Matthew 5:27, 28.
What counsel of Paul can help us to fight against immoral desires?

Inasmuch as improper use of our hands can result in serious violations of Jehovah’s moral standards, we must be firmly determined to remain morally clean. Therefore, we should heed Paul’s counsel: “Deaden . . . your body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” (Col. 3:5) The word “deaden” stresses the strong measures that must be taken to fight against immoral fleshly desires.

Why is it vital to avoid immoral thoughts and acts?

In order to preserve his life, a person is likely to be willing to have a limb surgically amputated. The figurative ‘throwing away’ of the eye and the hand is vital for us to avoid immoral thinking and actions that can cost us our spiritual life. Keeping mentally, morally, and spiritually clean is the only way to escape the everlasting destruction symbolized by Gehenna.

Christians should then be blind on one eye or be amputated in legs and hands.

Sir, the Bible is totally complete and never a book of confusion.
The Bible also says, "God is never mocked". It therefore follows that we should watch the things we say concerning Holy books.
Hosea 4:6 says, "my people perish for lack of knowledge". May Godggrant us wisdom and restraints in some issues.
You are lifted

This is why I'm in love with THE MESSAGE bible translation.

29-30"Let's not pretend this is easier than it really is. If you want to live a morally pure life, here's what you have to do: You have to blind your right eye the moment you catch it in a lustful leer. You have to choose to live one-eyed or else be dumped on a moral trash pile. And you have to chop off your right hand the moment you notice it raised threateningly. Better a bloody stump than your entire being discarded for good in the dump.

Your eye/hand could be a thing or even a person, and simply means if it/they would make you loose your focus, cut off from them.

This translation waters down the scripture. Many bible translations have even removed entire verses. What's the meaning of dump?

Never knew something like this exist in the bible...
If you have a good child hanging out with bad guy, send him away....
If you have gays among you, establishing themselves on a fast lane like having a gay club, a gay church or mosque, then do something fast cause they will never seize to spread fast.....
If someone come in your midst and preach Satanism with passion, take him out cos he will someday get uncountable members....
If a woman lives in Spain and whenever she comes home, she recruit more young ladies to join her in her dirty trade and the parent no longer have the power to say no to their kids on new found opportunity, then take the woman out.....
A prophet pray to God to wipe out a generation because after 900years he get ittle less than 30 followers, he said generation upon generation would be brainwash and God answered his prayer...
Islam is very cautious of that verse in the bible....
Don't sympathies with what will destroy your generation upon generation....

It means Jesus (peace be on Him) support adultery law so, we should try as much as possible to avoid it.

27 "You have heard that it was said, ‘You
shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell
you that anyone who looks at a woman
lustfully has already committed adultery with
her in his heart. If your right eye causes
you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it
away. It is better for you to lose one part of
your body than for your whole body to be
thrown into hell. And if your right hand
causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it
away. It is better for you to lose one part of
your body than for your whole body to go
into hell.

ipreach:

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable
for thee that one of thy members should
perish, and not that thy whole body should
be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members shouldperish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

very simple illustration: if you are in school and you want to excel in your studies but you have friends that are there for big time flexing without academic focus, therefore to achieve your dreams YOU CUT THEM OFF!!! BOTTOM LINE IS THAT YOU SHOULD NOT SACRIFICE SHORT TERM GOALS FOR LONG TERM BENEFITS.

Udi Formula should have been used in the North East when OBJ advised. Dereliction of this, gave Biafra sympathizers a piece of the intrigues, festered into Fulani Herdsmen clandestine and incursionary hooliganism in the sw, se, ss and nsc. And now some unscrupulous Ibos are colluding with disgruntled Ijaws to turn a simple Niger Delta Avenger s ringworm into a National leprosy. God sent that Power, that Spirit of Discernment to GEJ tru OBJ . GEJ failed. And now, like the Israelites, Nigeria is making a 40 days journey in 40 years. This is one application of the Text you quoted from St. Matthew, Chapter 5. Happy Sunday!!!

Hell?
Hell in this context is a garbage dump, a burial place for the dead where refuse are burnt with fire, that is why your body can be cast into it. It is a stigma, a form of condemnation. This is different from the lake of fire in revelation. In that vision both hell and the sea gave up the dead in them. Even the symbolic death as well entered the lake of fire, so context is very important. This scripture is certainly not about the lake of fire in Revelation.
