A friend told me he turned down an offer. He said the pay is 90K. For a Master's holder. He can't accept the offer.
So I ask, Is 90K too small for an Msc. graduate.

Well, it depends.

1) The size of the company applied to/ role to be taken up
2) What professional skill set is your friend bringing to the table? Will he/ she be a huge asset or liability to the company? Whether he/ she has a MSc. or not, if a company cannot see your immediate addition to their bottom life, you are just going to be another expense in their books.

So my advice? If he/ she has not experience, 90k is a good starting point to at least get their feet wet and gain the necessary experience for a more deserving job.

If there is opportunity for promotion in the future, it means that the salary will increase with time so he should take the offer.
It is better than doing nothing. There are a lot of people praying to be in his shoes right now.

It's for SSCE holders. Not good for an M.Sc holder.

Op, are you in Nigeria at all?

Let him stay at home and gain d experience. Greed.
Does he think paper has anything to do with real life experience?
He had better take d job for d sole purpose of experience.

Lol.... jokers above, your friend obviously has options or a spoon that feeds him..

I was at a job interview and we were all level bsc/msc holders, not until someone was called Dr George, i was shocked because i never expected a Doctorate degree holder for that position.

Well, no experience i undecideds bad experience, he can take the job, get some money, some experience and move on to sonething better.

Rather than remain dumb when asked what were you doing between 2015 & 2020.

why will he have to reject a 90k salary job?? will sitting @ home or finding another job fetch him that 90k. He had better drop that Masters freeking mentality and start from somewhere. mind you, things are so hard in the country.

90k I not bad for starters. I know an MSc holder who started off with a 20k job, now I don't know how much he earns but he is miles ahead of where h started from. It shouldn't be about the money initially, experience and good references should be your friends aim now.

I don't think its too small. For a start, its okay, especially if the rate at with it increases is high as he continues in the job.

That's more than a million naira per year. Its really not bad

Certificate doesn't determine pay but practical skills and value added.

If u use MSC to work as a call centre agent , you will not earn 90k..

You stressed the certificate more than the role and responsibilities.

If I am to use the economic realities of Nigeria to judge coupled with tthe atrocious unemployment rate, your friend is quite lucky.

Thats my opinion

Are you born with a Silver spoon Are you not in Nigeria If any of your answer is Yes...Please don't comment on anything of this nature, because you can't just understand.... But if your answer is No...it means you are still probably in school and can't understand things like this.. Just relax and read comments
