I'm in need of your in depth analysis and advice on Peace Corps. I'm about to pay for my cousin's leave corps form to go for training in Lagos.
my questions are
Will the federal government be the one to be paying their salary

How feasible is the job offer.

Don't try it, they'll milk you dry and keep you hanging. Peace Corps are not affiliated with FG in any way. There was a thread that trended here sometime ago, so many of their applicants were lamenting how they were made to pay thousands of naira. After the training, they were told to go home and wait for posting. Years later, they're still waiting to be posted and the peace Corps were still collecting money from new trainees. It's about time those behind this sham are arrested and charged for fraud.

I think they have been validated. Just last week i drove past their office In Gwarimpa, Abuja and saw a good number of them in uniforms. Also, i was asked to help submit the CV of an applicant two months ago.

What am saying is what is the alternative of not going? Staying at home? So far they are not asking for money for employment pls do give it a shot. You have little to loose plus there aren't plenty jobs out there.

They are asking for money o. You pay for registration, training, kit, feeding etc, after all of these nothing is done for them. They only promise the recruits that they will soon be absorbed by FG. Peace Corps is nothing but a scam.

Not a scam bro very soon government Will take over the corp so don't lose this chance my dear it has passed through second reading in the senate and house of rep has passed it. As at monday last week what they are aguing is who will appoint the commandant general. Is it the president or senate so my dear please give it a trial u will smile last. And their ranking will be the same with Nigerian army cos they are really in support of it. Getting govt job in Nigeria today is not easy so don't miss this ok. Good luck

Any person or organisation that requests for money for employment needs to be reported to the authorities.
If there is any evidence of such, i will be glad to take it up.....seriously!

But u mentioned 'years'in ur earlier post, probably thaatt was obtainable in the past, i really don't think anybody in his or her right senses will demand for money for employment in this Administration. Besides, someone just confirmed it has passed second reading in NASS.

After the training if you have a job go continue with it and pay ur dues, anytime government takes over hopefully before the end of the year. You have a job automatically. I am going there with msc so I will be given second leftnant two star as they said. All the best my dear.

If you love your cousin, pay the money.... Losing money is part of the game.... Life is risky itself. House of Representative passed the bill a month ago while committee on Interior has submitted the bill at the Senate for third reading.... Best of luck...

It's not scam, though they run on limited funds so if they asked for money it's not a big deal. Government is about to support d programme and a bill is in the national assembly. Na so civil defence start, people underrated it but now u can't even get jobs in civil defence even with cash and connection. Life is all about risk and gamble

As for the national assembly, they Will pass the bill but the challenge Will be if the président Will sign it into law cos the issue of economy is making everyone afraid. Any way God dey

The truth is that it is still a volunteer corps,you might want to give it a trial since you ain't got anything doing for now,but don't expect a dime from them rather the office would keep milking you daily,hopefully someday if govt takes over, you have a better chance still..

Mr Op, I aadvice u take civil defence as a case study, know how they started. Compare with the present state of NPF, even JTF prefers them to using blackMaria.

Ehen! My point here now is thatt, once the bill is past, ur bro will be a FG property, ofcos the payroll will change, the better part about it is that the U.N will have eyes on u guys for int'l jobs.

FORGET this govt, think about the next govt. Even at that, last last better jobs will come and ofcos he will present a certificate of working experience with PC.

Lagos camp has started already unless u will join Abia camp

Sending your ward for their training is the best you have offered him or will offer him.

ABUJA—AHEAD of the establishment of the proposed Nigeria Peace Corps, the Senate has given President Muhammadu Buhari the power to hire and fire the National Commandant General of the corps. Senators are, however, divided over an aspect of its general principles which proposes that only the President can nominate the national commandant of the corps and forward same to the Senate for confirmation. The Senate has also recommended seven years imprisonment or a fine of N100,000 for erring staff of the corps when it finally becomes a new legally-backed organisation by the Federal Government. The recommendations of the Senate were sequel to a report by the Committee on Interior on a bill for the creation of National Peace Corps. Presenting the report in Abuja,weekend, acting chairman of Senate Committee on Interior, Senator Bayero Nafada, said the national commandant of the corps would be answerable to the President and not the Senate as canvassed by the lawmakers. Prior to the presentation of the report, lawmakers, who opposed the proposal of the committee have, however, insisted that the national commandant of the corps should be answerable to the President and not the Senate as proposed by lawmakers. Senators had argued during the earlier debate on the general principles of the proposed law, that the President could only nominate national commandant of the corps and forward same to the Senate for confirmation . In his presentation of the report, Senator Nafada said the Bill for an Act to establish the Nigerian Peace Corps would empower, develop and provide employment for the youths, as well as help facilitate peace and community services as that would give legal backing to the already existing corps nation wide. According to him, when established, besides ensuring peace in the country, it would provide alternative employment for the youths, community development services and nation building. The House of Representatives had earlier passed the bill . The two legislative houses are, however, expected to raise a conference committee to harmonize their differences, if any before it can be forwarded to President Buhari for assent.

scam!!! fake!! for your info, if govt recognises peace corps, they will be trained by the military and police at some point. paying this huge amount doesn't worth it

You better do the needful .They are on the verge of being legalized as a Federal agency when they were going for training POLICE FORCE disturb them but they soon realize that it is an exercise in futility becos they have Fed Govt backing
