I will quote u bc I agree strongly with the points you made. I can only add that those willing to join the Peace Corps should be patient, let's know the final decision of the FG on the matter. Remember, so many people paid with the same motive of been absorbed by the FG years ago.

see someone quoting me in the counsel of their brain. if only people on NL will open their minds and be liberal like this.

well maybe someday

As for me, I cannot ascertain if peace corps would be absorbed by Federal Government or not. But my concerns are these:

1. The federal government is currently struggling to pay existing workers and we think adding more workers would solve the problem?

2. Even if Fed Govt was to absolve peace corps, the commandant general might have employed more than necessary number of applicants than government can handle.

3. The fact that the draft has passed the second reading does not necessarily mean it would be adopted.

PS. Peace Corps is an international VOLUNTEER organisation.

IF GOVERNMENT TAKES OVER PEACE CORPS, THEY WILL APPOINT A NEW COMMANDANT AND START FROM SCRATCH.

Everyone to be employed will be recruited and retrained. There will be a new training manual. Do not waste your money. How can some people set up peace corps and collect money and the Government takes over .

If the Government sets up peace corps, it will be with new facilities.

So Civil defence started from the scrap when she was taken over?

Na wa for some pple's thinking o

I urge you to try be up to date ok, The very Peace Corps you knew is NOT todays Peace Corps, b/w now and end of August 2016, you say hard I known, they'll pass their bill and salaries will be padi them.
dominique:
Don't try it, they'll milk you dry and keep you hanging. Peace Corps are not affiliated with FG in any way. There was a thread that trended here sometime ago, so many of their applicants were lamenting how they were made to pay thousands of naira. After the training, they were told to go home and wait for posting. Years later, they're still waiting to be posted and the peace Corps were still collecting money from new trainees. It's about time those behind this sham are arrested and charged for fraud.

This is the gospel truth. Who is in charge now and collecting money when government is yet to take over? With the level of unemployment in the country now, there is every possibility that the number of corps that this self - imposed commandants might have recruited will be far above the number the government will be willing to absorb into the corp when government takes over.

Exactly! There's no guarantee that the thousands of recruits will be absorbed by the government. What happens to those left behind?

You mean this current cash-strapped government will recruit thousands of corps and start paying salary? And you believed them? Do you know how long it takes bills passed by the national assembly to get implemented? Yet these commandants will be collecting money from new recruits without any tangible plans for those on ground. I can never advise my enemy to register with those crooks called peace corps.

They are asking for money o. You pay for registration, training, kit, feeding etc, after all of these nothing is done for them. They only promise the recruits that they will soon be absorbed by FG. Peace Corps is nothing but a scam.

Infact, my sister paid close to 45k to be trained in Osun state few weeks ago....

Any person or organisation that requests for money for employment needs to be reported to the authorities.
If there is any evidence of such, i will be glad to take it up.....seriously!

But u mentioned 'years'in ur earlier post, probably thaatt was obtainable in the past, i really don't think anybody in his or her right senses will demand for money for employment in this Administration. Besides, someone just confirmed it has passed second reading in NASS.

They demanded for money oo...not even small money sef...around 45k...yes and I mean it...on the passage at the national assembly, you knw what, the lawmakers are ready to pass any bill that will fetch them money this time around...so it was those monies being collected from the applicants that they use to lobby the lawmakers...it was even Alli Ndume that sponsored the bill....

I think they have been validated. Just last week i drove past their office In Gwarimpa, Abuja and saw a good number of them in uniforms. Also, i was asked to help submit the CV of an applicant two months ago.

What am saying is what is the alternative of not going? Staying at home? So far they are not asking for money for employment pls do give it a shot. You have little to loose plus there aren't plenty jobs out there.
Are u in Abuja??

As for the national assembly, they Will pass the bill but the challenge Will be if the président Will sign it into law cos the issue of economy is making everyone afraid. Any way God dey

Infact, you are the only person that understands the game....have they ever wondered how the fed govt would fund such organization when existing ones are still complaining of illtreatment? The national assembly can sign it, that still doesn't change the fact that the country is broke to accommodate them now., when we have not known the rythm of Npower being initiated by the FG itself...go the table of the president, you will see different bills that have been passed without being signed to law by the presidency. Good luck to them shaa

see if the peace corps or however you say their name employed someone like you then there aren't really thorough with their recruitment process and I implore the NL community to take advantage of this mediocre process.

first of all bills that are being read and passed on the senate floor are part of public records accessible to everyone who wants to find out. they don't do this reading in private. now, I had a look and could not find any evidence of the said bill being read by the Senate. I said I didn't find not that there isn't. there could be, I just didn't find.

secondly, because something is on the news does not mean it's true. I am sure you are aware there was a time a minister of the state defrauded Nigerians of their hard earned money in the name of immigration employment. by the way this happens everyday: fake employment on national dailies. believe it or not.

lastly, I am not discouraging anyone from giving this a try, I am just offering my 2 kobo of sense which I am entitled to considering this is a public forum in a democratically governed country.

so understand before you throw rocks.

btw I stand by my earlier statement: any organisation or individual that demands money from you to offer employment is either GNLD or fraudulent. anyone defending them is either part of the fraudulent scheme or has been a victim and wants others to be victimized too.

now, having said this I will encourage all to please not quote me in the absence of your brain.

process at your own discretion.
for Ur mind u made sense, wait till Senate come to Ur mothers kitchen to read the bill for u

Peace Corp...I have had a privilege to sit one on one with their present head, Mr Dickson Akor(very influential an allay to former Senate president, David Mark ) at my former office, they are on the road to be adopted as a disciplinary Corp to enforce certain rules of Govt. About strictness of children attending classes in public schools, upholding other forms of discipline etc., he is very determined and it is likely to be passed in parliament, which is how civil defense was b4 they were adopted by the FG
Regarding paying money and the likes, there is a sacrifice for success, some paid for civil defense back then, and some are enjoying it now...money for a job not guaranteed isn't really nice as things are quite hard nowadays...bro, follow ur mind.

U don talk finish abi? After the adoption of civil defence, u wan tell me say no other non governmental organization don make move to be adopted by government? There are lots of them and besides since the man is close to Mark why the commandant no use his connection when he was SP? Forget all those stories, even if you meet applicant wey dem never recruit, na wetin eim oga tell am na eim go tell you...sugar coated mouth

How is throwing away 45k a calculated risk?
The money should be used to engage the person concerned in a vocational skill instead.
