…Cautions security agencies against misleading tip offs from APC Leaders

The Baon Saturday condemned the invasion of the home of Governor Seriake Dickson’s aide, Mr. Richie Etonye, describing it as “an act of irresponsibility.”

Etonye’s residence in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, was invaded last Wednesday, August 24 by policemen numbering 50.

In a statement made available to LEADERSHIP and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the state government said the invasion was “obviously on the instruction of APC leaders in Bayelsa State who are based in Abuja”.

According to the statement, “Since the APC won the presidential election, its leaders in the state have been manipulating the federal security agencies to harass, intimidate and invade the homes of innocent citizens and non- APC members to settle political scores. The invasion of the residence of the governor’s aide is a classic example of the politicization of the security agencies. These same APC leaders are the ones involved in the killings and ransacking of communities in Bayelsa State, yet they are yet to be apprehended. It is these same politicians that give the false tip-offs to security agencies for invasion of their opponents’ homes.

“Government therefore calls on the police and other security agencies to be wary of such false information. They are also advised to confirm such tip-offs from the local security in the state and involve them before taking action. Government however reiterates its commitment to continuously work with the security agencies to sustain the peace and security of the state. The federal government should compliment the effort of state government of securing the state rather than using the security agencies to undermine the modest stride of the state government.

“Similarly, government calls for the prosecution of those who give false tip-offs as well as the policemen used to carry out these unlawful operations. Government also calls on the public to disregard the antics and cheap propaganda of the APC for it is intended to distract the restoration government but government will remain focused.

Dickson’s Aide To Sue Police

Meanwhile, the aide to Governor Dickson, Ritchie Etonye, has instructed his lawyers to institute a legal action against the police and an online newspaper over what he termed, ‘unlawful invasion’ of his home.

Etonye, who spoke through his lawyers, said his home was invaded by policemen numbering 50, and ransacked it, which led to the damage of his valuable property.

In a press statement, signed by his lawyer, Doueyi Dominic Fiderikumo, Esq., titled, “Unlawful Invasion Of The Home And Premises Of Mr Ritchie Etonye By The Nigerian Police Force”, Etonye said, he travelled on official assignment on the day of the alleged invasion.

The statement reads in part, “We are solicitors to Mr Ritchie Etonye of Brass Road, Azibiogbolo, Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State. He is a hard working civil servant and currently works with the Governor of Bayelsa State. Our client’s home was invaded and ransacked on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 by a team of policemen numbering 50, without probable cause, and in the process, several valuable property worth were damaged. Mr Ritchie Etonye was not in Bayelsa when the incident occurred. In deed he travelled out of the state the governor on official assignment.

“Upon inquiry, he found out that the police were acting on a false tip-off that he had stockpiled arms and cash in his residence. After several hours of operation, the police did not find anything incriminating and they left thoroughly disappointed. Expectedly, as part of the plot to incite, the unsuspecting public against the government and his principal, some disgruntled politicians have twisted and concocted their usual falsehood from the police invasion of his house as has been widely reported by Sahara Reporters, an online report medium reputed for junk journalism

They have started their thrash again. they ll surely blame the APC whereas all the tip-off is right from their party.
How on earth will APC inform the police that the aide is keeping illegal huge sum of money for his boss...What do they stand to gain from that?
Something is not adding up somewhere

The truth will set u free but will first make u miserable. Politicians are the greatest problems in this country, they can deny anything. We need a change of system where politicians cannot go away with crime perpetrated by them. I know naira has palmed some hands with all these contracting news spreading around.

Something is fishy, how come on the same said day of the police invasion was the day he left for an official duty. Ok, then why was his family nowhere to be found or did they also accompany him for this so called official assignment.

I think he already got wind of the police intentions and so he cleared his house before they could get there.

Both PDP and APC, non of dem holy pass
