Niger Delta Avengers Cease Attacks On Pipelines by princesweet: 2:17am On Aug 30, 2016
The Niger Delta Avengers militants said last night that they were done with the hostilities. The group whose attacks have caused a huge dip in Nigeria’s oil exports, forcing the economy into a big crisis.

The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) broke the news in a letter posted on its website by its spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, and addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari. It also spoke of the need for regular dialogue to take place for the Nigerian union to survive.

Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina welcomed the cessation of hostilities by the Avengers as “a good development which is in the interest of the country and especially the Niger Delta people.”

He said “anything that portends peace is always good,” adding that “we hope that it cuts across board and it is sincere.”

The Avengers alleged that the Federal Government was out to execute a predetermined genocide against the people of the Niger Delta through the recently launched Operation Crocodile Smile, which the military high command has explained as just a training drill designed to prepare the Amphibious Division for a better mastery of the Niger Delta terrain.

The Niger Delta Avengers also observed that the Nigerian system would work better if the Federal Government learns from the developed democracies to allow internal protests and conflicts aimed at greater good of the nation.

“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to put away the garb of a stooge to the imperialists, whenever he speaks outside Nigeria. We have listened carefully and halted hostilities in the Niger Delta.

We expect a genuine and positive attitude to restructuring and self-determination for every component unit of Nigeria. Dear president, what makes those countries (Japan, Germany, France, USA, Britain etc.) great is the ability of their governments to accommodate internal protestations and conflicts for the greater good of their nations over the years.

“Nigeria is not a one-man personal property. We must have these talks every time if this union must continue to work as one. The people of the Niger Delta have been living here from time immemorial, so we have the secret of the terrain and survival of amphibious operations.

“No amount of troop surge and simulation exercises will make you win the oil war; you can only win battles. You cannot apply the might of the state to restore the people’s confidence in your leadership when you cannot differentiate between genuine demands and being mismanaged by disorganised characters and tribal lords around you in your government that are playing the court jesters’ role as well as counting the days that is left in your four years term.

“You can deceive the whole world but we cannot be deceived by the so glamorized ongoing military operations in the creeks of Ijaw communities in the Delta coded “ Operation Crocodile Smiles”… the world should knows that with your pronouncement in Kenya and your attitude to the military build-up in the Niger Delta, it is crystal clear that the military has nothing less than a pre-determined genocide in Niger Delta and burn more already scared national resources to the pockets of those that have failed to locate the missing Chibok School Girls.

“Please also tell those foreign nations that your troops are about carrying out extrajudicial killings in the Niger Delta in violation of Article Four of the Geneva Convention with “OPERATION CROCODILE SMILE”. All sane minds know the meaning of “ CROCRODILE TEARS” so by code-naming your military operation CROCODILE SMILES only betrays your motives and attitude to the whole world about the Niger Delta question.”

With an end to bombings, there is hope for increased oil and gas production, which will translate to more revenue for the Federation.

The militants in the last few months hit major pipelines including Shell’s Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL) and Forcados terminal, ExxonMobil and Agip’s facilities. These attacks led to shut-in of various crude grades from Nigeria.

At the peak of the attacks, production dropped to 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd) against a budgeted 2.2 million bpd. Production had risen to 1.9 bpd before the renewed attacks.

This is big ups to our security boys. MEND and the Okah boys killed the NDA with just two press releases and passed on huge security intelligence to The Nigerian Security agencies, we knew it was just a matter of time before all of them get killed by the soldiers or rounded up to face prosecution. I think government should still go ahead and prosecute all of them and their political sponsors including GEJ (imagine a former president backing people to bring down his own nation) who was alleged to have even given them the name 'Avenger' shocked for economic crimes and murder of our innocent soldiers.
Anything short of this will mean that crime pays. These Ijaw boys messed up Big time and in fact, they made most Nigerians regret the day GEJ came to power on the trust of Nigerians in the North and South.

No winner in WAR. Thank you Avengers, for allowing peace. I think now the crocodile operation can be on developing ND region and not killing ourselves.

Peace is the only way to good development.

While you were bombing government national assets in your region, did you consult foreign nations and have their approval? Why must foreign nations get involved with your foolish acts?

Finally.

Crocodile Smiled.

You have to pity them. The resources moved close to them by the army is crazy.

No group can face Nigerian army or take on Nigerian as a nation in battle.

The best and Last is Biafra headed by Ojukwu.

Good development.

Cease fire and commence genuine dialog not all those unfreeze tompolo's account, Kanu or Dansuki nonsense.

Nice one...Seems the fear of "Operation Crocodile Smile " is the beginning of Dialogue.
Dialogue is the key to any meaningful solution to any disagreement between any party but don't know why in Nigeria we don't always do first thing first. If the both parties have had thought of dialogue this issue could have long been settled and both parties could have being benefitting immensely but all the same its better late than never...
God bless the FG!

The world oil juggernaut are done with making money off Nigeria at this time. The shale oil producers (plus regular) in the west and Arab oil moguls have decided to free up Nigeria.

Watch as the price of oil tumbles below $34pb at the news of cessation of hostilities and planned addition of output form Nigeria. Then, they would find another oil producing country (maybe Venezuela) to disrupt.

First of all am happy they are now sensible

I just hope the negotiations won't in anyway include paying them any sort of money or awarding them any contract... Honestly I feel they should be tried, convicted and them given presidential pardon. ..

I also think the “OPERATION CROCODILE SILENTLY should continue as there are a lot of groups in the Niger Delta not just advangers, illegal oil bunkry and so small groups... We need to clean this groups out of the Niger Delta
I understand why the NDA called it genocide.. Because if u want to eradicate militancy in niger delta and it supply link Street cultizim then u will have to kill or imprison 70% of Niger Delta youths.. they see cultizim here as a way of life..

Well done the Nigerian army....

Cynthia whyte ( whoever is hiding behind the pseudonym ) Mend and co made it impossible for them to continue with hostilities. ....The agitation was never altruistic, it was bound to fail..

All that is needed now is some world renowned cardiothoracic surgeons to mend the shattered hearts and some barrels for the tears of the baying donkeys who have been cheering them...

Now they are back to square zero & now have to fight their battles by themselves, no chance to hide behind other groups.. no more proxy to wage war on their behalf... The monkey in zoo cage go tey inside!!! cool

Nothing was ever broken, it was all a ploy to destabilize the government.

It was never a GENUINE struggle to improve the lives and well being of ND people & since the sponsors have been unmasked, story end... back to the basics.

Bloody effing cowards !! I thought they threatened to declare Niger Delta Republic on the 1st of October.

Their gut failed them when they got wind of the unprecedented amount of ammunition and ordnance the Nigerian Army deployed to the Delta creeks in pursuance of Exercise Crocodile Smile.

Thank God common sense prevailed over them. The Nigerian Army had the intention of smashing them to smitherens and turning the whole Delta creeks to a huge military garrison

It shall be well with our dear country.

Nevertheless, I think the sponsors developed cold feet after the revelations by "Cynthia Whyte" and decided to back pedal. Even though they denied it in the press, they knew their game was up hence beating a very hasty retreat- imagine all what has happened to the group within this short time after those Cynthia's statements!!

They even called Buhari Dear President. smh.

This is definitely gonna knock the winds out the sails of the Biafra agitators. Matter of fact, they've also lined up to either:

1. Burn the Biafran flag in the nation's capital while pledging allegiance to the country.

2. Exchange the Biafran flag for the Nigerian flag and sing the Nigerian national anthem though the loudest speakers in Eagle's square.

Now, when all these are put behind us and some nonentities again decide to forment trouble anywhere, I really pity them.

Again, it is well with our fatherland. smiley

"'Dear' President Buhari"? shocked

grin grin grin cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy grin grin grin

So the 'almighty' scavengers suddenly became creek chickens at the sight of the crocodile smile? What a heart rending disappointment for the wailers and triPODS that were hoping the criminals would help them frustrate PMB's government and get the albino out of jail.

Can someone please check the heart condition of the scavengers noisiest and biggest supporters Pa Chukwudi (cktheluckyman) and izonpikin grin? Those ones thought the scavengers were invincible and would not bow to military might and intelligence; the revelation by the Okahs and the smiling needle teeth of the approaching amphibian forces reduced the scavengers to humble peace seekers and genocide criers.

Let's be glad that at the end, wisdom, peace and the rule of law prevailed.
