My friend no one can explain who God is to any one comprehensively. God existed before anything was made by him. The Bible said in the beginning God created. Ask him if the breathe he breathes can be quantified, if the blood that flows through him can be created or manufactured.
If he listens he will hear him speak.
The human race is the only specie of God's creation that can dream. If he listens and ask the creator to speak to him then he will see God and know God exist.

Lastly pray for him, ask God to touch him and reveal himself to him and yo would be surprised that same boy would come back preaching the God you think you know to you.

@OP, it is impossible to explain the concept of God to a 6year old as you tried to do. The topic is too advanced for his developing brain.

What you've tried to do is analogous to trying to offer an adequate explanation to a 6year old who asks you how Airplanes fly and what keeps them from falling from the sky. Since you are possibly not an aerospace or aeronautical engineer, your explanation will likely be inaccurate and inadequate.

Try to use the same technique you'd use if the 6year old had asked you how babies get in the stomachs of women. One would hope you wouldn't give the little kid a por.no lessen, yet find a way to effectively communicate with the kid.

I laugh in chinese at those who say you're trying to indoctrinate the guy....well, the argument could be made that he is/has been indoctrinated in atheistic doctrines as well. The reason is simple. The atheists still are yet to tell us where the universe came from....of course it must come from somewhere even if they try to deny it for OUT OF NOTHING COMES NOTHING because LIKE begets LIKE. Something can only come from nothing (on its own) if a goat can give birth to a dog. It is a question that just won't go away. Like someone once remarked "you cannot have a big bang without a big banger."

But now let me see how I can help you.
If your little brother is forming smart then ask him the question Emmanuella asked Denilson: "What is it that has two legs, two hands, and can fly?" If he says he doesn't know, then tell him he does not know everything. But if he answers that it is nothing then tell him it is because there is NO something to produce such a thing. Out of nothing comes nothing, remember.

Or better still ask him "if everyone refuse to buy you candy where will you get it?"

Also, try taking him down the family tree. Take him as far back as you can and tell him that when he goes back far enough he will find that papa God.

But never mind, your little brother can no more follow lengthy arguments about God any more than he can understand the concept of infinity.

So don't worry about convincing him that there is God. You should rather be asking him the most insane questions he's ever heard. Don't try to give him answers. Let him come to the conclusions by himself. I believe your part now is to plant the seed. For it is written, "on the lips of children and babes you have found praise to foil your enemies, to silence the foe and the rebel" (Psalm 8.2). And never mind what questions that boy asks, he is one of those children.

Also, the testimony of your life will teach him more than you can say by word of mouth. Every good you do, tell him it is because God says you should do so. (Na u know how u go take handle the bad things, if any... grin

I reason that the reason for atheism running rampant in the western world is that there is no such counter perspective. They only get asked the one-sided questions. And then rush to declare victory when they cannot answer it. angry

Before you will be able to convince your brother that God exists you first have to think back to what first convinced you that he exists.If you cant decipher what convinced you of the existence of God then maybe you are a believer for the wrong reasons.You are a believer because your parents told you that God exists and sent you to Sunday school not because you actually had proof.Now that's not neccesarily a bad thing.After all aren't we all just lost souls wandering around and looking for what to give our lives meaning and purpose?Some turn to drinking and sex,some to science and some to religion.If your brother is a smart kid (which i believe he is) you can explain it to him this way.Let him know that there is no physical evidence of the existence of God but having something to believe in which gives you hope in a hopeless situation and urges you to move forward when all seems lost is one of the most satisfying feelings one can get.

@coolebux i wrote this post because I ran out ideas and Google didn't help either.. coolebux are we Christians because we where born into it or that we kept hearing abt God and we believed in him.. I am just frustrated and the young boy is looking smug

We are Christians because we are norn into it.....if we were born up north into a muslim family u would be one....maybe a die hard one at that....or u would be a Buddhist if u were born in east asia....

Not only that the boy was not taught about God, he was also brainwashed, hence the useless questions. Teach him but most importantly pray for him. God has his way of teaching such soul. You don't need to intervene on God's behalf.
