@stadora sorry about d wahala d dry ogi gave u but instead of throwing it away u should have used it as ogi for yourself or even "swallow" for soup or if u r d adventurous type n u bake u might have tried to incorporate it into u baking b seen how it turns out.

Yes, its good for swallow, looks like amala. Am sure if she has taken wheat pap before, she won't have problem in preparing it.

Like me, when I first prepared rice mill I didn't get it, hubby ate it like that but I just said let me prepare it the same way I prepare semo and it came out well. Same thing when I made it like cereal for my baby, very smooth.

cc: mitchyy, soonest, enkaydewdrop, onegai, AlphaHandMaiden., other CS experienced mamas.

If your baby is healthy, no need to give drug. If there will be need for him to take drug, Dr would have placed him on it.

One week is not too late for cord to fall off. Some take 2-3 weeks, it depends on how thick it is, just make sure you are cleaning it 2hrs interval/as u were taught at antenatal. Don't give room for infection as I will advice you to do the cleaning yourself.

How will I know?? Besides you were growing tomatoes and not sharing in the times of Tomato Crisis, let's talk about that tongue Carrot is the top of the carrot, the green part, to plant it. I think lettuce is the same. I grew spring onions from the roots of it.

If I had space to do a herb garden eh...Barag you use corn flour to thicken sauces.
I just started growing these plants of recent, the tomatoes haven't brought forth fruit yet.
I watched carrot planting on utube and they used seeds. Heard lettuce is seed too. I put one small spring onion with the bulb inside the soil like that lipsrsealed. Is it the leafy part am supposed to put? Still learning.

Contem2011, I will look for the basil seed. But the one with stick I planted like that have started flowering thou most of them didn't survive.

Stadora, please where did you get Sorghum leaves from? It is used in a delicacy in Ghanaian food and gives a deep red colour to the food. Someone I know is looking for it.

It will come out nice but u may not like the look, it won't be smooth. The chaff is nutritious.

If u want the chaff inside, u can just use a sieve that has normal hole for elubo (amala), don't use d normal pap cloth, with that u can have a smooth-look-like.

May be because u soak it before drying, like I said, I just wash my own and dry. Soaking might have attracted flies while drying. Why I wash is because of the dirt inside, its just too much.

please no sitz bath,no pressing of hot water on your tummy,no tying of wrapper on your tummy. after six weeks pp check up,if the dr certifies you ok, you can do sit-up exercise once or twice a day( don't do more than 10 sit-ups at a go to avoid stressing your wound) that is all i can think of for now,ftm too.

i am sure other sabi mamas will contribute.

Some hospitals give babies drugs after birth, others don't. My hospital is totally against the practice of giving healthy babies drugs. Personally, i would advise you don't, except your baby is ill.

My babies cord took 2weeks to fall off. Just clean regularly and it'll fall off. Don't be tempted to apply anything other than what you were instructed at the hospital.

For the Dos and donts after CS, give a minute as the explanation is quite elaborate. But pls NO hot water sitting aka sitz bath.

Thanks dear for this lots of info,I will ask abt this test at the clinic,if it's cost effective I won't mind doing it just for my mind to be at rest.

The BCG injection is supposed to be given just under then skin layer and it is not one of the ones that goes into the muscular layer.

It may take up to 6 weeks for any reaction to appear at the injection site. And it may take up to 9 months for the site to fully heal.

So i would say if you dont see any reaction by 6 weeks after the vaccination, you can go do further tests or repeat the vaccination.

For the records LO was already 6 days when MIL arrived with the herb. The herb we used is a wide leaf, you toast a bit on fire to make soft so you can extract it's juice. We were still using spirit, after cleaning with spirit, we apply the extract.

Note that we were cleaning with spirit and applying the herb virtually every two hours, both day and night. The cord fell less than three days after her arrival.

Why do you want to give your baby paracetamol? That can damage their liver o! Please only give when necessary e.g.when running temperature after immunization.

Mitchyy i still awaits your epistle...

Hahaha. It's not an epistle o. I just tried to put down the few things i learnt from my experience recovering from a csection.
Here you go:

Donts

- Don't use a postpartum belt or abdominal binder until 6weeks. And that also depends on your doctor. If he thinks you're okay and healed enough to use it, then go ahead. Your health is more important than your appearance.

- Don't skip the painkillers you were given after the operation. They will help you manage any pain you will experience after the operation.

- Don't drive immediately after your c-section. Wait till at least 6weeks and give your body time to heal to some extent.

- Don't give up on breastfeeding. Breastfeeding after csection can be very exhausting. Yes, the first 3weeks was hell for me. I hated breastfeeding but i had made up my mind to be on EBF for my baby because my milk was flowing very well, so i had to no excuse to give formula.
I started experimenting with different positions and i found the one that was comfortable for me.

- Don't start exercising until about six to eight weeks after your c-section. I learnt that it generally takes about 6weeks for your tissues to heal. Confirm from your doc too and let him give you the go ahead before you start.

- Don't bend or lift anything heavier than your baby for the first few weeks, to avoid putting a strain on your stitches.

- Don't do it all alone. Accept help and let friends and family help you around the house. In most cases our mums or mil are always around to help out. If they are unavailable for some reasons, find someone else to be with you.

- If you live in a duplex, don't spend too much time going up and down the stairs. When i went home to be with my parents, i was banned from going downstairs. The few days i stubbornly climbed the stairs several times, i ended up in pains.

- Don't hunch your back when walking. I fell victim to this until i learnt otherwise. Straighten your body. It will help you recover faster because it strengthens your tummy muscles.

- Don't stress your body with a sitz bath. It's majorly for those who delivered vaginally and had an episiotomy, a tear. Don't worry yourself. Your vjay is still in good shape. I guess its our compensation for all the csection wahala.

Dos

- Always check your wound. I use a standing mirror to take a look at mine every morning. That way you can tell if there is any issue. That is how i discovered my incision was opening up again.

- Make sure that you only wear comfortable loose fitting clothes for the first few weeks to avoid it rubbing against sore region of your body.
In my own case, i stuck with gowns and high waist pants. I even shopped for high waist lingerie so it won't rub on my incision.

I'll update the list as i remember more

I collected my books today. All in all I will say the books are Ok and my kids love them. At least I heard the books weren't brand new so that made me prepare my mind. Some of the books actually do not have sign that shows it has been used while few had few writings and stickers on them, not a problem for me dou.

So kidco, try and improve on your shipping and handling cos I actually requested you pack my books separately just like every other person in my group but you packed everything together and Nita had to stress herself to sort them accordingly.
Thanks for the extra 1 book btw.

You did not even by mistake include even one singing or pop up book in our order. Is that how you do cry smiley

Do watch him carefully please and don't delay to get to a hospital as soon as you can do so ! Give him a shower with lukewarm water to abate the fever! As per greenish poo there's something wrong with his diet or its an infection!

It's typical of newborns to stay awake till late sometimes! I am doing vigilante as I type this for eg- the individual is 6 weeks wink

What do you need a nanny for? Just to help with bed time routine or other stuff?

Probably your mil is tired and already has her own bedtime routine which includes sleeping at 9pm, I don't see what the crime in that is!

But that's my opinion! Especially if she's helpful in other areas and at other times!

As per childcare what exactly did you have in mind and what was the agreement when your mil moved in? For me I've learnt that it may be easier for everyone if there's an extra or alternative child care arrangement e.g nanny in addition to having your mil around!

You can look for someone and your excuse/story will be that the extra hand will ease mil of some of the stress.. But remember that nanny may not join you in vigilante after caring for baby all day!

I hope my comment has helped you further expand your options and thoughts on the subject good luck
