Outrageous Prenursery School Fees At Children's International School Lekki

I recently went searching for a good school for my nephew in Lekkiphase. Check out this outrageous prenursery school fees I came across. School: children's international school, Lekki

Prenursery school fees: 2.27m
This excludes non refundable acceptance fee of 2 million, Registration, school uniform, PTA. Etc.

Notice also secondary school fees for SS3 boarding house students is 6.158m. Excluding 2 million accdptance free and other cost..

Late payment of school fees attracts 10% interest rate
On outstanding fees..
Late payment is after 2weeks of resumption..

Approximately #5500 for feeding each student every day!!!

I don't blame them. It is the government. Education is not supposed to be expensive as this. One fundamental responsibility of a good government is to educate the youth, with education the country is secured. However, this does not guarantee success. How many of our leaders today there parents paid so much to educate before they attain this enviable positions. My people don't be bothered with this. It is just business. Train your child and give them the basic things you can afford, especially education, shelter and be a very good role model.

Those exceptionally bright kids are not different from our professors littering everywhere. All content but little or nothing to show for it. This is the result of having watery education. Who validates it? WAEC!!!
Mine is that, Nigerian kids who are privileged to acquire the advantage inherent in the sophisticated British curriculum should remember to put it in the development of Nigeria like Davido is doing.
Seriously, we have a very long way to go ,especially in STEM education, and should be grateful that schools like CIS that can give Nigerians an idea of what they are missing. The next generation deserves more than what the politicians are giving to their education

@bolded: WTF??!! Hehehe.

I've been reading the rubbish you've been typing on this thread. Your argument can only convince gullible parents and other unenlightened people. Does CIS employ only non-Nigerian teachers? Isn't it from the same pool of teachers who teach at other non-premium and premium schools alike that your "almighty" CIS pick her teachers from?

And please don't tell me your Nigerian teachers were specially trained... 6 months - 2 years training isn't enough to make a great STEM teacher who can talk about and teach deep science at an acceptable level to children.

Also, you keep talking about quality. What proof do you have? What awards {international and national} has the school or it's students won? What special STEM facilities does CIS? What in sweet baby Jesus's name justifies 2 million plus for nursery school education?

I am 100% sure that any free public school in any developed country is better than CIS or any premium Nigerian school primarily because of the quality of teachers.

Even though the school follows some standard "sophisticated" curriculum, you're never going to convince me (or anyone with something in his skull) that you have the teachers to match.

I will send my children to CIS if the "highly educated" school's wards can scale through any preliminary International Math Olympiad tests to represent Nigeria.

Oshi!

Finally someone who thinks.
Nihilist:

Lol I actually live in the UK with a child in the school system.

People only send their children to private or grammar schools here for the prestige, not necessarily for the quality of education. CIS does not have the required prestige to demand such school fees. If you have Eton or Harrow on your CV, the doors to professional success are open to you anywhere in UK. Eton has produced 19 UK prime ministers, Harrow has produced 7. Both schools are hundreds of years old. Logically it follows that prestigious schools like this will charge exorbitant prices.

CIS is not a career opener. It has no prestige or famous alumni. It has no history All it does is sell 'British Education' to gullible money-miss-road parents who are just looking for another way to show off. Paying 14000 dollars a year to a Nigerian school is just madness anyway you cook it.

Which British are you talking about? Please read and stop disgracing your teachers. Eton is free? Sevenoaks is free? Harrow School is free? Cheltenham Ladies is free? Search for top schools in England and find out which one is free. None of the top schools in England is free and they are called independent schools(private schools) like we have in Nigeria. The free schools are the Yeye Yeye government run public schools like most countries have.

Smells like a school fit for the childrens of our corrupt government officials as they leave our managable public schools to the mercy of age and dilapidation and spend millions for their most precious toddlers to get the best of Education. Funny enough we don't see their kids coming up with the Albert Einstein brains to change the face of Nigeria but are from an expensive hub to grow more corrupt future thieves for taking quality education from the Nigerian Child.

Where's the insult?I think you need to read history of discussions before barging in to show good manners.I don't know what CIS has done to attract this level of hatred as if Nigerians are not working there and paying taxes to the government. You are so resentful yet want to advice me .
AIS isn't owned by Nigerians yet they charge more than CIS yet it is the CIS owned by your fellow Nigerians you resent. That's just so unfair.

If you preach from morning to night, dem no go understand. A frnd of mine teaches in Day Waterman, to maintain the facilities, large number of staff and so on is over whelming. I don't know how many staff CIS has but they take money from few to employ large hands. To cap it all, DWC had 94.1% pass in their IGSCe exams. Yet some are hating.

See your ignorance everywhere on your post because you are not humble enough to learn. You don't know and you are forming that you know makes you a danger to everyone around you. There are top schools in the category of those two schools and are even more expensive than those two schools. I am sure you don't know that is why you called those two schools Cambridge and Oxford.Stop contradicting yourself by saying that they are free and are the same. You're calling the school a scam because you're not rich enough to send your children there or your parents are not blessed enough financially to send you there.
Quit hating.British education is not like Nigeria education, they have more exams boards and the standard requirements and cost of registration and accreditation for each board varies, the expensive and premium boards ones are mostly patronized by the top independent schools, I am sure that at that fee CIS is charging, they will be on those premium elite exam board. It's then like bringing the top independent schools in the UK to Nigeria which caters to the need of expatriates, rich and wealthy Nigerians mostly resident in that part of the country. That is why CIS is not in your village or outskirt suburbs where people like you live

y are you so bitter about it ?
apparently you are the learner here
good education is good and fine but there is nothing in this world that prove that you be great by going to the most expensive school , tell me how many people in this world who has change the world positively and negatively attended an expensive school?? from Darwin to Newton to nicolas tesla to thomas edison to Bill gate to Steve job even if steve job attended a very sound school he still end up dropping out of it .for the record all the people that has done great things in this world whose ideas still hold till today never I repeat never attended anything expensive talk about Karl Marx talk about Mohammed talk about Jesus Rkelly Micheal Jackson tuface tupac adolf hitler osama bin laden etc none of them change the world by the stupid standard u are respecting over there silly standard that will never take you anywhere other than make u more stupid . name them, if u think it's easy , go and generate your idea and let see it's relevancy in 100years time all those I mention above their legacy still stand til today none of this stupid idiot whose father waste money on did anything positive or negative in this world to justify the huge expense or non of them never graduate ni?

This is sad, to note that education for grade 1 through 6 is now at minimum 400k per semester, that is 1.2million per year.

The FG should rein in on some of this excesses. Schools should be regulated and school fees should be fixed.

If you are not ready to provide the service and you are in it for the quick profit from totally dis-oriented parents then you should quit.

Go and find the cost of getting accreditation from prestigious international education professional bodies and examination boards first. Then calculate annual cost of renewal. The teachers will be trained and licensed by these expensive bodies and who bears the cost? Next, calculate just the cost of registration for the kind of international exams schools like CIS enroll their pupils and students for. This is not a school for poor people. They already have their target customers -expatriates and wealthy Nigerians

just sit back and go through what you typed. accreditation to train pre-nursery
