Am about to buy a system with the following specs. Hp m7 touchsmart core i7 with 2Gb nividia and a total of 6 Gb dedicated video memory.
Also has 8 Gb RAM.
Dual core 2.0 Ghz core i7 with boost up to 3.1Ghz.

Good for gaming?

It is not me you will confuse today.. 2GB nvidia with 6GB dedicated... Baba choose one.

Notebooks aren't designed for gaming.

Back to your question, will it play, YES. will you have to sacrifice image quality for playable framerates YES. Can you run games with medium to high settings NO. You only have 2GB dedicated. Don't get it mixed up with 6GB shared memory. Shared memory is much slower than dedicated.

whats your nvidia "gt" or "gtx" model tho.. At 2GB it should run it... Probably 6XX series down till 10XX series...

If you exceed 2GB on the GPU it will access your system memory with a penalty, STUTTERS. For best result, do not exceed 2GB VRAM by lowering your image quality in-game. You'll be fine.

The only 2gb nvidia gpu I've seen on the street that is "cheap" is zotac gt 620, if you stay in abj check Happiness computers zone 3 complex...
Im guessing you are contented with old games and not ready to play recent game titles yet though...
