Initially, MTN said it would deploy its lte over band 20(800), but I was surprised to hear that it's now over band 7(2600). so I don't know if MTN is using both bands or just band 7 alone.

Just left mtn office, was told the 4G is only in lagos and Abuja yet, is this true? How long will it take for this to spread if true?..

I have used the two networks, i can say with confidence mtn is better and stable.
This afternoon I got max speed of 5.7 mbps per second.
Location: Ajegunle/Apapa
Device: Huawei ascend mate 7

speak for yourself, got more than 10mb on ntel .. Have not used mtn though

MTN Sims gotten late last year or later are already 4G ready. I think yours is too. try to select 'LTE only' and see if it brings up the network.

I'm impressed. But these are early days, having this speed at launch for LTE advance is not surprising. But give it a few months, let more people get on their LTE and let's see how they keep up. Spectranet and swift have us incredible speed at launch, these days their speeds have drastically reduced. I'mnkt expecting more than 50mbps from mtn by the time more subscribers join. Let's wait and see.

Next ensure you have turned on 4G under the phone network settings.
If you still can’t connect, visit an MTN store for support or check out the 4G videos on the MTN website.
