Following the persistent failure of Government to alleviate the suffering of people in Awka the Okada riders have taken the bull by the horn by engaging in rehabilitation of the popular Ifite Awka road which has persisted as a death trap. Kudos to the okada men for being good citizens and not waiting for Obiano to do everything.

Obiano Fulfils Promise, As Work Starts On Ifite Unizik Road

Motorist alongside students of UNIZIK were all smile earlier today as they noticed work in earnest on the road that has been a nightmare to users.

The honourable commissioner for work, Hon. Law Chinwuba, who was on ground to oversee the work himself, noted that palliative work is what is ongoing and as soon as the rain stops, asphalting will start.

Hon. Law also confirmed that work on the road will run from the popular "five decking" junction down to the university gate.

At the time of this report, occupants of the surrounding building where work is ongoing, especially student occupants couldn't hold their joy. One of them, Sochima Ezenwankwo, an undergraduate of UNIZIK, has this to say, "It is being long we have been complaining about the state of the road. It is so bad that buses coming from temporary site will have to stop at this point (5km to school gate) and make a U-turn".

He continued; "i think petition was made because not too long governor Obiano came down himself for inspection and promised that work will commence on the road. So i was so surprise and happy, waking up this morning to see large collection of stones and bulldozers. It shows that the governor thinks about the student welfare".

Shout of 'Willie is Working' rented the air as all motorists wore satisfactory look. One motorist in particular said he was on the verge of reconsidering plying another route but that now that work has started he has changed his mind. He also commended the governor and wish him well.
Comrade Uzoma Ferdinand Ibekwe, President, National Union of Anambra State Students (NUASS), who played a pivotal role in making the work possible, was also on ground to witness the commencement of work. He expressed satisfaction and eulogized Governor Obiano for his immediate response. He therefore enjoined the student community to embrace the governor's youth friendly policies.

I plied this same road in Friday the 14th of October 2016 and it is in a sorry state.....

You guys should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves... Instead of you all to rally around and make noise so the champagne guzzling governor will sit up and fix our beloved state you are here lying away your miserable future.

May God and thunder punish and strike you miserable obiano sycophants... Our state is sliding into rot and all you all do is come here and lie.... I don't care about imo state..... But Anambra is my heritage and state and it needs to be fixed.
