No, my firm wants to collaborate with an accredited HMO to develop a private health plan outside the social health insurance scheme for targeted subscribers.

Sorry if I am asking too many questions but I really need to understand you.

Does your firm want health insurance for its staff? This happens with private firms. Is this what you are asking?

I appreciate the many questions. Its not really for staff but for the public sold through my firm. A private health plan outside the ones offered by NHIS.

Say, for example, my firm is Shoprite and we trying to develop a plan for any shopper who falls ill while in our mall? Just an analogy to illustrate.

All HMOs have private plans outside NHIS. You know NHIS is majorly for federal civil servants. I bought my mother a cover, she isn't a staff of any body. My aged grandma has a cover I bought her too. I presently partner with another friend and we gave health cover to three mobility impaired young women. The point is, there's a cover for all.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the help. Do you know if there is any literature on private plans by the NHIS?

Check their website, a lot of stuff is in there. Then, individual HMO's too.

You just want to have headache ontop nothing. I told you that it will take a minimum of 6mths before your name is active on the portal. If you submitted in Sep/Oct, be patient and wait for the second quarter list

Help out pls!

I don't know what exactly is the problem, and have been trying to get enrolled since 2014 in vain.
The first form was submitted in 2014 and when my name didn't come out, i submitted another one in September last year, hoping that my name will come out with the January list.
Now my name didn't still come out both in October last year, January and April this year, whereas the names of all my colleagues that we collected and submitted the last one together came out.

I complain to Songhai about this and they told me the problem is not from them, that its from NHIS. I went to Kaduna NHIS office to, i was told the problem is from my HMO, that probably they didn't submit the form. What should i do now, i'm confused?

Sorry about the stress your HMO is making you pass through. If you have filled a form and your name is yet to be out but your other colleagues'have theirs, it's from your HMO.

Please, go back to them, fill another form give me the number of that form (see attached form for clarity), and your ministry. Send via mail, I can at least see its progress.

Do this very soon, another list will be out by July, hopefully, yours will be part of it.

A new born baby born at its due time or as preterm is covered under his/her mother for 12weeks after it is born either thru VCSHIP, public service, or even TIShIP so yes incubator and oxygen is covered under NHIS

NHIS makes sense on paper, but implementation is very very poor.
Conflicts between HMO's, providers, asking users for top up amounts etc etc etc
The whole NHIS scheme requires a total revamp

You have two options. Actually, three.

Change it online by yourself. Visit www.nhisonline.com.ng

Visit any NHIS office and fill a form

Fill a form with your HMO

No fees paid. It's officially free.

It will take about 6months to be processed if you fill forms in any of the offices (HMO or NHIS)

It will be changed instantly and you can use your printout immediately if you change online
