That is just a sink hole. Nothing extra-ordinary and you cannot really tell when it would happen. It happens in developed countries as well.

The gods are angry indeed. grin

From the look of the gully, the flood didn't start eating away the road today, must have been quite some time for an erosion of dat magnitude to occur. But trust Africans, they must have praying and covering that road with the blood of Jesus to prevent it from collapsing instead of doing the needful. mtchew...

This is pathetic. I hope our government can take proactive action on benin-okene expressway ( Auchi town near omega church by jattu junction) to prevent this kind of incident.

There's nothing natural about this but a manmade disaster arising from a poorly constructed road

The water watched away the soil under the road and that resulted in that section of the road carving in

I don't know why Africans tend not to be proactive. That road must have been showing signs of distress before collapsing.

They were using cello-tapes to hold the roads together. undecided

obviously bad road construction... the pipes under the laterite are supposed to have been encased in concrete, but from what is there, they just laid the pipes and covered them with soil. What happened was inevitable as water would always make a way for itself if not guided right with resistant material! well...

that is definitely not a sinkhole... that road was eroded by water due to lack of construction foresight and common sense! the water runs across where the road is situated!

That's not earthquake. The pictures show that there was a water/river channel before the road construction that linked to the other side of the road but it was blocked by construction contractor. Poor road construction!!

There was a serious commotion this morning in Cameroon after the busy Yaounde / Douala road got divided (due to erosion) with motorists plying the highway. According to an online report, this happened following a heavy rainfall in the area.. The incident which almost had some vehicles swallowed -has left motorists and road users stranded...
