The egg business is unscratched. We need vibrant young men to change the tides and take a fair share of its potentials.
I am always available.

That your zone is lucrative to a fault - you have many ''big'' men in that area.
Epe and Ijebu-Ode will be your best bet. If you can move further to Sagamu, you will be fine.
Check Lagos Farm Settlement called AgricYes, there are about 15 ''farms'' with about 200 crates production rate daily.

Blackkie, you are doing a great job, may God reward you abundantly.
I want to go into egg distributorship business, I stay near Lagos business school.
I have a Toyota matrix I can be using for transporting eggs (the back seat folds flat). Please I need some guidance and contacts of farms to get eggs from around that side. Thank you.

Please, how much can one register at a big Farm?
Re: My Experience In Egg Distribution Investment. by Blackkie: 11:55pm On Jan 20, 2017
Eggs stay for 30 days and more once in room temperature.
If the room has A/C 24/7 it can stay for more days.

However, if they were exposed to the sun or water, chances are that they may go bad faster. Also, if you have few with unnoticed cracks, they usually drop their liquid with those near them in the crate which breeds maggots.

But to be on a safe side do not order any volume that can last for more than a week.

I am waiting for the new input that will solve this issue of locating a farm or a mega distributor near you.
This is the major problem of new egg distributors and even farms. Some farms have eggs and no clients making some to reduce the volume of birds they have.

This period is a lesson teacher to those who will not structure their dealing with farms and distributors. If you lack eggs now redo whatever strategy you used last year.
People who have constant supply right now do not jump to cheap offer in the middle of the year.

Retailers are been supplied at N1,200/crate of medium size in Ikeja, i was shocked when the mallam told me, whereas the so-called distributor will be reluctant to buy at 1,000/crate. Going by the current shortage of eggs at farms and high cost of chicken feeds, medium size egg is going for btw 900-930 from farms, if add transportation and other logistics, the landing cost will be around 950-980/crate, therefore if you see unsorted for 1,000 in town, i think its a good buy for now. my 1cent advice.

At a concluded meetings at the PAN secretariat yesterday with the National Chairman Dr Ayo Oduntan over the State of the Poultry industry in Nigeria.

Good news was announced as
Price of raw materials will definitely come down by February as imported maize is expected any time from now to land into the country.

Farmers were advised to endure for a while as effort is being put in place to arrest the current hardship in the industry.
The National Chairman further announced the price of eggs from 1000 naira, as well as price of broilers per kg, DOC and others to be on high prices just like other commodities in the market. Poultry markets must not be exempted.

Kudos to all stakeholders in the industry ,Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ogun State PAN ,National Chairman and DG from Abuja to mention but few for their selfless efforts to sustain this industry.

God bless you.
Good morning and have a wonderful working day.

My opinion:
I strongly disagree on the importation of maize as an alternative to ease the effect of high cost of feeds, considering N480/1$, its not feasible. Moreso, in a country we are trying to encourage the farmers, importation shouldn't be an option, they should allow the market force to determine price of commodities.

We need to note that poultry farmers have now agreed to be selling their eggs from N1,000 to savage the industry, in view of this distributors also needs to adjust their prices.

bros I can bet you nobody , I repeat no farmer would be cajouled to reduce his/her maize prices .rather it would increase and it is already soaring. PAN president can go farm maize and dash feed millers!
Do you know if you have 100 tricks of maize now, feed makers are ready to pay you cash for that? Aint many of them buying cassava as maize substitute these days?
The only panacea is production, production and production! we need facilities to produce more maize and I haven't seen Audu Ogbe's dry season farming moves in that direction apart from GES rice intervention alert in form of 3 bags of fertilizers, 2 Litres of growth enhancer, 25 kg bag of rice n what? which is awesome 'cause it is coming early unlike before.
Truth is we need power tillers , other small machinery and relevant inputs to mass produce enough food and feed stuffs within 5 months. I perceive a serious food crisis if we waste time sir. but we can beat that for we have the energy, atmosphere and brain but more will to pull that. Give me youth npower in agriculture and see how their latent talents would be unleashed. we need to make farm business sexy beyond rhetorics.

We need to be more serious to harvest the many blessings that God laced in our Agric potentials: food, feed, finance, electricity, herbs, fulani-indigent farmers conflict resolution, green wealth n health, landscaping, agro-tourism, new product dev, community devs, waste to wealth, job creations etc
Re: My Experience In Egg Distribution Investment. by farmventure: 1:55pm On Jan 28, 2017
Spot on... The surest thing for potential farmers now is to take advantage of the current situation to invest more in maize plantation.

South West is safe from Fulani herdsmen. Your comment is discouraging, it portrays unseriousness.
