And who says they dont dress well in such Universities. How can our scientists invent when half clad ladies are all over the place?. Its a University for God sake, if you feel like getting lucky there are socially accepted gatherings where people can go unclad - but guess what, even top clubs dont allow "anyhow" dresses.

misterkay:
Irrelevances. World universities are contributing meaningfully to technological advancement through research, here we are bothered by our dress codes.

What color is the new school uniform?
Re: UNILAG Introduces Dress Code For Students (Pictured) by Maximus85(m): 3:16pm On Feb 07, 2017
We all know the quality of graduates produced by Maulag, oooops Unilag has reduced in recent years.

I once visited the campus and I couldn't help but wonder how on earth those students I saw would ever be employable when they are done with their studies....especially the girls. Very few of them are in that school to really study and pursue a career.

Seeing the hair styles, tattoos and dressing of those students... I was afraid for them.

They are now learning from PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES..

so ur logic tells u that u must harass every girl that dresses provocatively?

what about the ones that are attacked even when they were not provocatively dressed?

y not accept the fact that u r sick and require therapy instead of walking loose with a fixation on the female anatomy.

So that is the only thing you could pick on from my statement? Are you pained about something or what? Is there any problem telling people to dress responsibly? I am a woman, and a mother of a little girl too. I have been in the academic environment for a while now and I know what am talking about. Please don't pick on me. Thanks
Re: UNILAG Introduces Dress Code For Students (Pictured) by dayowunmi(m): 3:50pm On Feb 07, 2017
Hmm, the school is just giving lecturers room to harass students unnecessarily. What's the definition of tight fitting dress? It won't be long before someone wearing fitted clothes like jeans, t-shirt and the likes is victimized using in descent dressing as excuse. I really don't understand the reason why you feel the need to control the way people dress in an higher institution. If it's a religious body owned school, it's understandable but this is a federal institution. What's with the piety and conservativeness.

Don't get me wrong. But did you go through their do not wear list. Like no tight trousers!! Pls can anyone tell me they have not or do not wear tight trousers. If it's formal wears, traditional or religious wears that is okay then say it but not being vague that is part of why it didn't work the last time similar notice was passed.

Not all tight trousers are immoral

Learn from the churches who showed at the the entrances what not to be worn to their church.

quote author=profmallor post=53501139]Very soon almost all the Universities would follow a strict dress code. If you are a parent you will be glad someone somewhere is at least taking steps to bring back some morals to our society.

quote author=blackboy post=53499435]Lol. Did they think this through? Who doesn't wear tight jeans just a few. Go to the market and see if you will find baggy.

They might as well show pictures of what they want and don't want like a deeper life tract I had many years ago that showed acceptable dress code or more of recent in MFM that display a billboard of what not to wear to church.

a people so fixated with appearance like the pharisees.
y not champion quality education n the use of a curriculum that reflects existing realities in education.
y not champion the cause of many innocent young girls faced with sexual harassment by those whose duty is to protect them.
y not engage govt and sch authorities to provide learning structures and modern facilities fit for a higher institution
y not engage society at large to imbibe true values such as honesty, sincerity, dignity in labor and eschew vices that encourage corruption, theft, get rich quick etc that leave the youth the impression that the university is just another place they go to - becuz they were asked to go there.
have u even asked yourself where are a good number of the 'yahoo boys' are? .....in our universities!!!
y do u define character simply by what someone chooses to wear?

we should not be bucked down by focusing on distractions.

in some states in the US, it is legal to be topless publicly.
yet the rape count doesn't even near the figures churned out from our campuses...reason?
we focus too much on the wrong things.
if a man cannot hold his sanity simply cuz the woman next to him chooses not to wear a bra under her shirt, then that man should have his john cut off!
i don't subscribe to indecent dressing...but it is totally wrong to prevent one from dressing the way he/she wants too as defined by legal laws in the land.

Well, you took a new dimension now that you know am a lady too.
We don't have to argue and we all are entitled to our opinions. Unilag only gave guidelines to the type of dressing they want on campus and won't come disturb anyone who does that outside the school environment. If it suits you to dress provocatively, then suit yourself

no dimensions dear....

(Some of those girls won't like this yet they keep shouting "sexual harassment"wink

need i say more?

when a lady gets raped, the 1st thing ur type would say is 'she's fond of dressing indecently'.

then again, that's your view and that's the limit of your understanding....who am i to judge!

Hmmmmm, I hope it's not too late to correct this. When Unilorin was setting the standard then, people were saying it's a secondary school, but today, Unilorin has achieved proper dressing code to an encouraging standard. But in Unilag, its already part of the students' way of life, now they want to do the necessary. Let's wait and see if they will adhere. I'm always proud to be a product of UNILORIN.

Proudly Uniilorite too.

Hahahahahaha I can it hurts you. But setting a standard without it working out is different frm having it, making it useful and yielding good result.
