But Tuface chickening out at the last minute also killed momentum, which is what the government wanted and which is why all their online propagandists went all out few days to the protest here on nairaland trying to discourage and play saboteur to the scheduled protest. The government knew with a celebrity face like 2face, the protest would have been bigger and probably gotten the attention of the international community that something not good is amidst in nigeria so they went all out to fight against that including using direct threats and intimidation...there's always an element of truth to everything and all that blackface rants about two face being a selfish two-faced coward eventually manifested in 2face own actions; he was probably paid or encouraged initially with the selfish intent of probably launching a political career off it since age is not on his side music wise but liver fail am when reality set in...history will remember tuface simply as a cowardly chicken

I have and i think they are mostly trash, just like most other Nigerian songs.

Talk about real music, talk about Asa, Paul Play (wonder where he is), Dare Art Alade, and a very few others.

Bro they are not trash o. Have you listened to "Weh done sir"? I guess you didn't even listen to the lyrics or message, just the beat. Hence you think they're just like most Nigerian songs. Or maybe it is the pidgin that you don't like, which is hypocritical of you sha.

His message is always very clear and straight forward.

Tubaba set in motion one of the most memorable events in Nigeria's history when few couldn't garner the courage to take that step.

When Tuface sang "For instance", which brought to fore the many many ills prevalent in the Nigerian society, you still dey primary school.

Mtchewww!!!! Falz should shut the hell up... at least tuface started something, what did Falz start? He should start by tallking to his lawyer father who speaks from both sides of his mouth and sometimes even makes up laws that dont exist in the constitution to back up his basrless argument.

If Falz were in tuface's position he would have done same. Only a handful of people can dare the government like Fela and Falz is not one of them.

Meanwhile... My sweetheart is a year older! How many likes for her

My day doesn't start with the sunrise and end with the sunset. It starts and ends with you!
I adore everything about you, from your sparkling eyes and stunning smile to your tender loving heart and soul.
The day you came into this world was (even if I did not know it at that time), the first day of my long journey to you. And this to me is truly a special day.
I could never have dreamed you. You are every fantasy I've ever had, rolled up into the loveliest of creatures.
Happy Birthday to my one and only. My here, there and everywhere!
You cannot imagine how happy I am to spend your special day with you. I love you so much more today than yesterday, but not even one-tenth of what I'll feel tomorrow.
You can slay for Africa, talk for Antarctica and find trouble for America. Baby, continue just the way you are! I love you that way.
Your Birthday is the only day of the year I enjoy as much as mine and that's because I love you even more than myself.
Today, you will receive many greetings for your birthday from many well wishers. So this comes with something extra: my everlasting love.
It must have been incredibly sunny the day you were born- because you've brought only sunshine and warmth into my life ever since I met you.
If I could, I would hand you all the stars in the sky on a silver platter as your gift. But I cannot, so I'll give you my love to keep for eternity!

Happy birthday, Darling!
You're hearted,
Oyepitan Oluwafemi.

You call what Fela did gra gra and that we are no where afterall. I will tell you what Fela did while he was alive. He condemned military rule and brutalization, he sang against inflation, he sang against oppression, he against about embezzlement, he sang against corruption, he sang about emanticipating ourselves from colonial mentality, he sang againt neo colonialism, he sang about favouritism and nepotism, he sang about Nigerians being brainwashed by religious and political leaders, he sang about black power, he sang against bribery, he sang against money laundering, he sang about sycophants, he sang about the sorry state of Nigeria and the reasons why we found ourselves there and what we can do to liberate ourselves. As a matter of fact, Fela sang about almost everything affecting us in Nigeria now. I'm sure you didn't watch the YouTube video attached, if you do, you won't have the audacity to say Fela was doing gra gra. In the video, he talked about revolution, standing up for your right. He said if you stand up for your right, government will try to bring you down, if they can't bring you down, they will intimidate and oppress, if they see that you still fighting after that, they will jail and beat you, if after then you are still not backing down, they will try to kill you or burn your house. Guess what happened to Fela? Everything. Not only did they intimidate and oppress him, they arrested him over 100 times, they jailed him, they beat him, they burnt his house, and they tried several times to kill him. Do you know why he changed his name from Ransome-Kuti to Anikulapo-Kuti? He said the government tried to kill him, but he is not afraid to die fighting for masses because he has death in his pocket (Anikulapo). Fela has died almost 20 years ago, but all what he said 30, 40 and 50 years ago are coming to past. In "beasts of nation" he sang about a military leader that wants to dash us human right, the same military is Muhammadu Buhari that you people elected as your president in 2015. In "overtake don overtake overtake (ODOO)" he sang about how hyperinflation is making life miserable for an average nigeria, the same hyperinflation is killing us. In "original sufferhead" he sang about how price of foodstuff has skyrocketed, in one verse he said small bread is now 40 kobo, that same bread I'm sure sell for over 200 naira now, in "suffering and smiling" he sang about how nigerians remain comfortable despite suffering, and urge us to fight for our right. In "authority stealing" he sang about large scale corruption and embezzlement in government. As a matter of fact, almost all Fela songs has message for us to stand up and fight for our rights. Now tell me how what Fela lived for is gra gra?

I thought exactly! [s] He was very vocal and aggressive with his criticism against the government. [/s] Tuface sang anti-government not once, not twice, not thrice. That video says alot. He looked scared in that video, it seems he was threaten in that video. Just a night before that video came out he posted on his instagram page the Do's and Don'ts on the protest. 2face meant well but it it is unfortunate for him on the bashing and abuses he's received so far.

Hope you are not comparing FELA with 2Face? , and did I hear you say fela was local?

If it's by music Tuface also sang anti government songs.

Another off point from you. Like I said earlier, I won't insult you, I will continue taking the onus to enlighten you. Since you get some likes, I'm sure it's not only you that have this screwed up knowledge about Fela. You asked if Fela ever led a public protest angry. Are you freaking kidding me!
Not only did Fela lead several public protests, he lived almost all his adult life fighting against govenment oppression, corruption and maltreatment. These were brutal military government of Obasanjo, Buhari, IBB and Abacha. At the height of his public fight with the military government, Fela established his own republic called Kalakuta republic and he decreed that his republic is not under Nigeria government. In 1979, the military government invaded Kalakuta republic with one thousand soldiers, burnt down his house, raped his wives and killed his mother (Fela's mum led one of the most outstanding public protest in Nigeria in 1949). After his mother was killed, Fela staged one of the most jaw dropping public protest the world has ever seen. He led thousands of people to Dodan barrack carrying his mother's coffin, he dropped his mother's coffin in front of the head of state office and dare them to come take the coffin.
In his song, "coffin for head of state", he said

So I waka waka,
we go Obalende,
we go Dodan barrack,
We reach them gate o,
We put the coffin down,
Obasanjo dey there,
With him big fat stomach,
Yar adua dey there,
With him neck like ostrich,
We put the coffin down
Dem no wan take am,

Trust me bro, I have watched that documentary. I am so much into Fela messages, and when I see things happening now, I just giggle because I have heard them in Fela songs and interviews years ago. I always tell my friends that in history of music, the only person in the same level with Fela in respect to messages in their songs is Bob Marley. Tupac is close but not up to their level.
I won't say anything about 2face and the protest, I respect him and I wish him well.
