Joining the US military is as easy as ABC once you graduate from High School (I assume you are a citizen or green card holder).

Military personnel are not viewed the same way as they are seen in Nigeria. They don't go about brutalizing citizens or turning into monster terrorists among the citizens. There is a chance that an adult you meet might have passed through the military system. It is not much of a big deal unless for the ones who had/have been deployed.

In Nigeria you hear jokes like "if a soldier slaps you.." thus confering some kind of superhuman power to military personnel. They are human. They bleed and die like everyone else.
\
Don't mind silly Nigerians with that dumb joke, police actually have more powers than soldiers in the US because police are responsible for maintaining law and order and you barely see soldiers in public unlike in Nigeria.

first, those in power will waste her years doing nonsense recruitment and fixing those they know. second, it's not worth risking, they will turn her to an object, they won't pay her well, they won't value her job, her passion will die down, they will enslave her and say, 'respect your superiors '...they will just waste her life. I had passion to join the N.A, it's 6 years now, I don write exams tire... 4k! I'm no more trying, I'd open a thread by this time next year just to praise the American army which I'm going to join

Good info....tu say me and my guy b enta West Point dah year sha...chai!!!

To enlist in the us military active/reserve the one general criteria is u must be a us citizen or permanent resident(green card holder)
and have at least a high school graduate which equals to naija school cert.then
1.MARINE; U must be between 17 to 28 years old.
2. Army; U must be between 17 to 34 years old
3. Air force ; U must be between 17 to 39 years old
4. Navy; between 17 to 34 I believe.
you are a green card holder you qualify for citizenship by the time you finish your basic training which is the first one month of recruiting.

In the army there is the active and the reserve, to join the active you have to be a US citizen , which this lady probably is. To join the reserve you don't have to be a US citizen , but you have to have been in the US legally for like a year or 2. But they stopped recruiting foreigners to the reserve last year , due to some info about terrorists joining the reserve through that means,(that's what I heard from some guys sha). Maybe they might start recruiting again in the near future . And when you join the reserve as a foreigner , u become a citizen direct, sharp sharp.
And all you do in the reserve is go for weekend trainings ,you can continue your normal day job as an engineer or doctor e.t.c in your private organization, and you collect like 2000 to 1000 dollars every month from the army for doing nothing but just light trainings like 3 times a month. Lots of naija guys in my school went that route to gain citizenship. But joining the active is far better than joining the reserve , but as a foreigner that's the only option u have.
please stop given people wrong informations. Speak about things you know very well. Nigeria people though!! What ever that sound good to them is all good with so many likes. SMH.
You can join both active and reserve as a green card holder. And you do not collect 1000 or 2000k dollars. Reservists Drill allowance is about $300 depending on your rank and number of years in service.

I was expecting this kind of comment , I don't know who you are and where u got ur info about 300 dollars from , Of course if you have green card , you can join whatever you want , I admitted making the mistake of classifying both green card/citizenship as the same thing.
I'm sure it's not 300 dollars per month, except you mean per week , my classmate is currently collecting 800bucks per month for doing nothing.
If it's just 300 bucks per month then it won't be worth joining . I'm in the US , I live with these people, my info is first hand information .

Even if it's for citizenship, I do not see a reason why any sane person will sign up to join the army of a foreign country so that you can protect people that you have no cultural or family ties with.

For one's safety, it would be better if it were some country that hardly ever goes to war. Not the US army that's always at war.

I pity her.
finally found someone with a similar thought

Alright calm down everyone. Debby awoyemi studied in the us and has a bsc in accounting and also an MBA from universities in the us.
She is an officer and not a recriut against popular post.
She left for the us after her secondary school to pursue her bsc. That way she became a citizen after undergoing the citizenship process.
She simply enlisted after her degree program.
Cheers

At least you did not throw insult at me like an average Nigerian would have done. I appreciate that. Well look at this link and see that I was correct http://www.militaryrates.com/military-pay-drillpay-e1_e5_2017. Like I said, what is your friends rank and number of years in reserve?

Your links not going through , but I just asked another guy now , and he says it's 600 but after tax and other stuffs, it remains like 300 or 400.
I'm not sure those guys at reserve have any rank.
