9japrof: Take this fact from me, even if you have a 1day old trained brother/sister soldier coming from the barracks? just be ready to expect beligerency , hostility and some other unfounded features uncommon to him. what other reason where they deployed to tension places if not to forcefully endanger and enforce their others.? But these states are not under any state of emergency, but perceived "rebellious" as you said and can not be contained by Civilmatter related specialist like equiped police/civil defence. but instead Armed illiterate Army? to a certain portions of the country? |

The problem is we are combining African culture and western culture. You graduate and you start thinking you're a white man unfortunately you met NIGERIAN soldiers. it's not their fault. |

cutedharmee:Was thinking they weren't on a military duty, so they acted as individuals not as agents of the army. |

TundeHashim:How Nigerian are you, to me and other like minds here, u lack the abs to say or know what the problem of the south is. you were born and breed only in the North,u dont know how things are in the other sides of the divide. people like me who have been to atleast 6 Northern state n residing currently in Kano state can tell you that this is a clear Modern captivity and organised domicile hostage taking. |

davidif: You are very correct bro. The main duty of the military is protection of territorial boundaries. Back in the good old days, it was a rarity to see military men on the streets. The police handled every contact with civilians. But the reverse is the case now. I think it is as a result of our progressive explosive increase in population over the years. A lot of military recruitments have been done, and the barracks cant contain them anymore. Since we have now gotten to this stage, preventive measures, such as keeping these hot-blooded new recruits "busy" and preventing their unnecessary contact with civilians, should be put in place to forestall unfortunate incidents like the one featured on this thread |

The problem is not the illiterate soldiers, rather the problem is the ignorant masses. You see three soldiers beating one man for mistakenly hitting their car from behind and everyone just walk pass. Why would the masses not gather themselves and beat up the soldiers? Can three soldiers kill everyone on the street? Until we begin to fight for ourselves, animals in human skin will continue to think they are next to God. 1 Like |

cutedharmee:Ok, let me ask, and I need to be educated on this. If the police have intelligence report that a military man is involved in money laundry and has these hard currencies in his house/car, do the police hand him over to military intelligence or arrest and prosecute him based on evidence? |

Same thing they did to Shiites in Zaria. Indiscipline right from the top. I have never heard of American or British army brutalizing civilians under any circumstance. A serious re-orientation is needed- it only takes a commander-in-chief who is sensitive to such issues. Certainly not this C-in-C. Nigeria might just be a zoo after all- N. Kanu has a point in that. |

We need to apologize to God for what this generation has turned themselves into. People who never make use of their brains! We are simply blinded by religious and ethnic bigotry. The story says people who just came from 9 months military training. This means that they are most likely from that same community and wreaked havoc on their own people. That tells you what I have always maintained: THE REALITY THAT WE ARE OUR OWN PROBLEM. Someone reads this and starts blaming Buhari and the north! Bunch of certified illiterates everywhere. Spits! |

Re: Lawyer Brutalized By Soldiers In Delta Left To Die (Photos) by UltraLeslie1: 2:53pm On Mar 20, 2017 |
@Cutedharmee But military police are strictly for military matters, concerning military breach. For instance, the soldiers who absconded during the boko haram crisis or those who committed mutiny, etc will be dealt with if need be by the military police. As the Nigeria police have no statutorily power over such matters. When a soldier unofficially commits a civil crime, the police takes him completely. That's how it is all over the World. The frequent clash between the army and police have overwhelmed the law and the police mandate to investigate and arrest ALL. |

cutedharmee: Curled from : http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/robbery-police-arrest-soldier-fake-naval-personnel-in-lagos/ Police sources said the Nigerian Army has confirmed that the man who claimed to be a Lieutenant is a Sergeant. “The Army has taken him for court-martial but we have written to the Army that after the trial, that the man should be brought back to the Police for proper prosecution,” he said. cutedharmee: Lolz, they handed the military man first to military authorities because he impersonated a military rank other than his. That's a military offence. Extortion is a crime against Nigeria which no military law specifically contain or deals with.. Mind you, the military has been on an age-long intimidation of the police by forcefully breaking in and releasing their military members when arrested. |
