grinfor someone like me who doesn't believe in the supernatural I'd stay there, Afterall the dead is conscious of nothing, they don't hsve a mind of thier own therefore they can't harm you, you aren't the one who murdered the person and you have a goal, so don't let something as insignificant as that hold you back

This is why i don't waste my time going to church.

*You are a christian*, why are you afraid? Isn't your God bigger than a dead somebody? Or didnt your bible tell you that the dead have no power over the living?

If you are an atheist, why should you be afraid of the supernatural? Or are you a superstitious atheist??

Would it make a difference if you didn't know?

Now, what if you find out today that the house you've grown up in is the burial site of a million dinosaurs and cavemen and warriors?

Call me irreverent, but I'd shït on a grave and sleep in a coffin, don't mean shït to me.

Don't be afraid of your own imagination, your mind holds the power and key to EVERYTHING in life.

OK make I tell u my story, I served at kwara state, d room first was not furnished, unlike yours, and my backyard which is directly to my window a graveyard, all of the family members of that compound were buried there, the worst of it was when the owner of the building I am staying died, he stayed at Lagos and based on Muslim tradition, he was immediately taken down to the village and was buried just close to my window, scary enough, they left d clothes he wore wen they brought him on my door mouth, though I called d younger son to take it out, so he did..... but mind you, I am the only one leaving in d while building oh, a house of about 6 rooms, they just gave me one room based on d private school I was posted to....

can u imagine how dat night will look like for me? damn I slept off as if I don't know something happened,...to be afraid is in d mind.... wen u take off your mind nothing will really happen, nor be u kill d person, u nor know d person buried there neither did he know u....

I will say don't do it. I will tell you are story and it's still up to you to believe it or not. When I was younger my mom sold used clothing usually called okirika. Some time we take bedsheets from some of the things she sold and used at home. At a time I started having nightmares consistently every night and even in the day time when I'm just taking a nap. I never knew what was wrong until one of my uncles who was in fut minna at the time came to the house and was looking for bedsheets to take to the hostel. I agreed to help him smuggle some of the ones my mom was selling including the white one I was using. Few days after I saw him and he was telling me I gave him hospital bedsheets. I checked it and it actually had a hospital name and logo on it(my white bedsheets)My uncle who was more inclined in spiritual matters wanted to know why he al of a sudden started having nightmares. It was then I knew where my issue was coming from.from that day, nightmares stoped. Till now, I am not really the spiri kook type but I know there are powers and principalities. Forces that are beyond the physical.

Salaam alaekum brother.

This isn't some Nairaland-please-help-me situation.

Check with knowledgeable brothers or scholars around on the ruling of Islam on this.

It's not really an opinion thing since I'm sure there'll be a clear ruling on such matter.

May Allah guide you and make this NYSC journey easy for you and other Corp members.

Amin.

I will suggest you get a room mate, at least if you guys are two in the apartment, u'll have someone you gist with and you can overcome your fear. There's absolutely nothing to be scared of.
Back them in school, the house I stayed was owned by the head of Ogun worshippers. We had a shrine, at the back yard, with irons, numerous heap calabashes of various sizes ,and other festish items. Infact every month the Ogun worshippers come to honour the man and performed all sorts of sacrifices . But I still lived there, and lived normally. For me it's just a mindset.

My fellow nairalanders, I'm a Muslim corper from one of the states in the north central serving in a state in the east.

I'm have a conundrum right now, I was lucky to have the opportunity to change my ppa to a new one because of reasons. I have finally gotten a new ppa but the problem is the accommodation provided for me has a dead person buried in it and I do not feel comfortable at all with that(obviously).

The new ppa have claimed that there isn't any other accommodation left which I highly doubt, problem is they furnished the room and provided other miscellaneous just for me to make my stay very comfortable and I'd feel bad if I turn them down.

I decided to wait till when the next set of Corpers are passing out leaving vacancies abound but my cash situation is tight and I can't wait further.

Note: I could accept them and enjoy the place until I get a another new ppa which I'd have peace of mind but I have conscience and I can't do such.

OR

I should reject the new ppa and manage my current ppa with its damning conditions, exercise patience and suffer for a while till I get a better place?

My dear, occupy that space, d dead has no relationship with d living, in a part south south state capital, they do Bury alot in d their rooms n rent it out... Just pray n cover d room with blood of Jesus.... Express sleep no disturbance

Although it sounds scary but there's nothing scary about it unless it's a fresh grave. Many people (especially in ibibio and Efik areas) bury the house owner in a room in his house and later rent the room out. I don't like the idea but what can you do actually? It's like waking up and saying you don't wanna walk on the ground or live in an upstairs apartment anymore because you just discovered that, way deep down the earth's foundation, water covers everywhere and you could sink in your sleep. There are bones fin dead people almost everywhere although we may never csee me in contact with them. And what happened you'll the people killed by Nigerians in Biafra during the war; where they all buried and where?

My dear its very possible that someone else is sleeping in that very room( that used to be on open field) where ur ancestors where buried.... If Uve ever been to the mortuary severally, u won't be scared of dead beings.. Abeg pack in and sleep.... I dugged out two old skulls when I was renovating the house I've been leaving in for more than twenty yrs of my life... I asked my dad if he knew the people that were buried there and he said no.. I asked the eldest man in my kindered if he had any idea but he said no.. It could possibly be that they were buried some two hundred yrs ago...

do you no you can not pray in a house where corpse is being buried? If there is mosque around the place it's okay as far you will be saying your 5 daily salat in the masjid but if there's not you have to leave the house.

And Islamically the house is forbidden for you. May Almighty Allah be with you.

I am not arguing whether supernatural exist or not but from what you speak if they exist at all and they do feel like harming would the condition you mentioned above be enough of the reason why they wouldn't harm you.

I know the next you will say its a market but before you say that know that security sleeps in the market on night duty. Dont be sceptical about the dead they cant hurt him. For various reasons 1 they dont know him 2 no be him kill them. So what will they gain by attacking him? Nothing

You can call it anything you like it, the only thing I know is Islam forbid us from
1. buried in the house we live in
2. Praying in the house where corpse is being buried and
3.working, talking, cooking and doing other things on the grave is not permitted in Islam.

That's why we are asks to buried our corpses in the graveyard.
