It was reported yesterday that he has been living with SICKLE CELL ANEMIA. He had just passed the examinations that will qualify him as a surgeon but was turned down by the body because of the SS disease.

Not enough for him to end it. He was not BA, if not, he should have sought heavenly intervention. RIP.

Here we go again. very little education. It is NOT a problem that made him commit suicide. Notice that the word "suicide" is used and not "killed himself". there a reason why. His sickness makes him think or feel that death is a natural and painless solution to living. His mind is completely taken over by this maniac state of mind. the sickness overrides the natural tendency to stay alive come what may. As he drowns, he possibly was at his happiest. Again i don't expect you to understand that. Stop watching Jennifer's dairy, get a book or get on Discovery Channel or go watch "A beautiful mind so you can understand. Or maybe see any of the Zombie movies; the plots are usually based on a mental sickness gone viral. maybe just maybe you will understand. I doubt it anyway.

We all need to realise that SUPER MAN doesn't exist anywhere. Every human has problems they can't handle, sometimes it's better to acknowledge that problems are permanent part of our existence. We need to realise there's nothing like a perfect life, we need to learn to seek help and if the pressure from family & friends gets too much, blank them out. Don't let anyone put you under unnecessary pressure. You came to this life alone & you will die alone. Once you realise this, everything becomes easier. Learn to put yourself first. After all you need to be safe before you can secure someone else, you need to be healthy to take care of someone else. I'm not saying you shouldn't care about others, but once the pressure gets too much, its a far better option to enter 'selfish mode', than committing suicide.

Hav experienced depression and almost killed myself more Dan twice, but when I remember my mum, I do change my mind. Committing suicide is never a way forward.

Wait a minute, the incident happened around 5pm according to the report that means there was still daylight and knowing how busy that bridge is nobody saw the man climbing over the rail, the driver didn't see the boss climbing too or he saw him but wanted to watch and see what he was up to. Something does not add up,the driver needs to be interrogated seriously.

Where was their initial destination so many questions hanging in the air. It is unusual for a doctor to ntake a dive into the lagon just like that. Was he sick or something. The police have work to do,wish I was in force, I like cracking cases like this.

we need Psychologist, in Nigeria, Psychologist that can be affordable by all with problems, and those in need of sum1 to talk to, not just pastors, that all problems are solved with 7days dry fasting.

There are psychologists, I mean trained psychologists but Nigerians prefer medical doctors who know next to nothing about psychological evaluation and intervention. Imagine the just concluded police recruitment, no psychologist was employed rather they employed medical practitioners. When we all know the police force itself needs psychological overhauling.

Suicidal tendency is an important aspect of clinical depression. Patients may not be fully aware of their actions when clinically depressed.

People commit suicide, when their girl/boyfriends leave them; when they don't get admitted into a university; when they don't get that job; when they get humiliated etc. But is that to say, people haven't gone through this challenges? and still had it great. There's no REASON for taken your life in the name of depression. If you think your story is the worst, pls hear from the other guy. THERE IS NO DEPRESSION that will not fade out. Just hold fast, n u'll get another babe/guy that will make u wonder why u tot u loved the other; get admitted to the school that gives u a better platform from the previous. Next time, when the devil whispers such to you, think of those that really care about you, that u will be leaving sorrowful. This life isn't only about U but also about ppl around u.

I agree with the original poster and well written too. One of my pet peeves with Nigerians is the fact that we have no respect or privacy for the dead. We see many gory pictures of accident victims everyday even here on nairaland. When Nigerians, happen upon an accident, the race is to be the first person to post the pictures on social media. Can you imagine finding out you lost a loved one by seeing his/her mangled dead body on Facebook or nairaland?

In the developed world, you will not learn the identity of a deceased person or see his/her pictures on the media till immediate family has been notified. But in Nigeria, it's a race to see who is the first to post it.
