Followers of kenfarm thread, find below pix of our visit to a client farm at Ijebu Igbo for the land treatment. We did the soil analysis and the outcome of the analysis made imperative for us to balance the soil PH of the farm land to maximise yield.

Are you still contemplating on whether you need to do your farm soil analysis, consider it a wise decision to analyse your farm soil.
What you stand to gain by analysing your soil is enormous. Subsistence farming has gone pass the era of just burying seeds in the ground and go home to sleep with with your two eyes close.

Some farm land soil lack vital nutrients (macro & micro). Don't you think having an idea of the nutrient composition of your soil will help you know which treatment to give your farm soil?

Treating a farm soil include introducing the lacking nutrient into your soil, neutralising the highly concentrated one, balancing the soil PH amongst others.

Also, a high PH soil indicate the need to .......... and low Soil PH indicate the need to ...........
However, when the PH of the soil is known, it help you to know the type of crop to plant on your farm land. As a matter of fact, some crop strive well in a soil with high soil PH while some other crop strive best in a soil with low PH.
If this is scientifically proved, what do you think will be of your crop at harvest time when you fail to do soil analysis and go ahead to plant your crop that strive well in Low PH soil on your farm land with high Soil PH

EFFECTS OF BUSH BURNING ON YOUR FARM SOIL FERTILITY

Kenfarm like to bring to fur the merits and demerits of burning your farm land. This we are sure will be I formative to our potential customer undergoing pre-planting process.

In as much as burning your farm after clearing seem to be the fastest way to clear off the weeds, it is imperative we understand that fire can diminish nutrient pool sizes, nevertheless nutrient availability often increases. Soil fertility can increase after low intensity fires since fire chemically converts nutrients bound in dead plant tissues and the soil surface to more available forms.

The fire indirectly increases mineralization rates through its impacts.
Note that the concentration of potassium, calcium, and magnesium ions in the soil can increase or be unaffected by fires whereas nitrogen and sulphur often decrease.

Thus, if you have burn your farm land after clearing, we advise you perform soil analysis to ascertain the soil fertility.

soil pH does play a role in nutrient availability. Should you be concerned on your farm? Be more aware than concerned. Keep the pH factor in mind when planning nutrient management programs. Also, keep historical records of soil pH in your fields. Soils tend to acidify over time, particularly when large applications of NH 4+ based fertilizers are used or there is a high proportion of legumes in the rotation.
A knowledge of your soil PH is the key to a successful planting season. Soil analysis with us will go a long way in helping you to make the correct decision on: type of fertilizer to apply, Quantity of fertilizer to apply, when to apply the fertilizer and the treatment to give your farm land....contact kenfarm today

Post on Soil Fertility
Most of the time, the average person treats the soil "like dirt". A wise farmer/rancher will care for the soil because he knows that man is dependent on the top 6 inches (15.2 centimeters) of soil. In the plant-animal-soil continuum, soil is often neglected because it does not indicate stress in an obvious way. Animals and plants show physical symptoms but the soil must be looked at more carefully to monitor good health.

Soil that is rich in nutrients is fertile. The expectation of growing plants as food for livestock must include the reality that plants will take nutrients out of the soil. Replacing nutrients is the basic goal of fertilization. Improper fertilization in the past has caused controversy, but the basic premise of fertilization is to replenish the soil.

There are three basic ways to replenish the nutrients removed from the soil. One way is to recycle nutrients, mainly by way of animal waste. This is a crucial method when discussing pastures. Another way to replenish soils is to obtain and apply fertilizer. And the third way is through microbial action such as nitrogen fixation. Forage-livestock producers should understand and utilize all three for maximum fertility with minimum cost and environmental damage.

Fertilization is an important issue because it is needed in order to produce enough food for the increasing population from the decreasing cultivated land, but too much or inappropriate use can be detrimental to the environment. Part of the debates about fertilizers discuss "man-made" or "chemical" fertilizers as compared to "organic farming". There are many misconceptions about all three terms. This module will look at the various aspects of fertilization so a broader understanding will lead to better fertilization and results.

Due to continuous change in demand and supply, there can never be a current price....not even at this period. so if you want to buy or sell, enquire the last asking price from your buyer or selling ...cheers

Oga this information is misnomer!

Oya do your analysis.... How many tonnes of cassava is obtainable per ha? Let s say your cassava has tested 25% starch content.

That price you posted above is far below the market price at the time of posting.

And presently, anyone who cannot buy a ton of cassava for 30k at farm gate should be ignored
