You guys are shocked, disappointed and laughing but what I see is a president trying to make life better for his citizens. Instead of asking for funds that is scarce to the average population, why not ask for their agricultural that is mostly owned by many of them.
Believe me but many poor Nigerian parents will choose this option over money and that's fact. Even the rich will choose this option as all you need is your animal to mate, nature gives you the child, grass and water (rain), thus nature give you a commodity to trade for something.

I like the system. Way and manner, fees must be paid. Besides, the country isn't doing any better sef. The schools will benefit more from this policy.
Re: Zimbabwe Okays Payment Of School Fees With Goats by eternalcity(m): 11:29am On Apr 18, 2017
Let's adopt this policy too in Nigeria: all the goats in Getso town in Kano and all nama around the North can be exchanged for the education of the locals.

No more kpomo for the Westerners too..

Mugabe's stone-age economic policies have officially turned Zimbabwe into a barter economy in the 21st century. Africa and the scourge of poor leadership.

And just last year when Zimbabwe lit up some folks here (I will not mention names) were solidly behind Mugabe even insulting we his critics. Once again goes to show that the state of a country, including Nigeria is a fair reflection of the quality of the citizenry. Because leadership comes out of the citizenry and for Zimbabwe to pay its bills in livestock, then surely its people must live in the wilderness.

this is good; just establishing the fact that goats stores value like money.

in many parts of the world goats serve as current accounts and cattle as savings account for the owners.
everybody should own two goats - a male and a female. this makes a lot of economic sense.

Is it a curse ?

Shut up and use your head before criticising. It is an innovative way of tackling money shortage. Before the white man came with paper currency, did your fathers not enjoy their lives without it? What is worse, for his kids to stay at home, or for the schools to accept barter payments?

I think it is a fantastic strategy that should be applied right here in Nigeria and across Africa, because there are many children here hawking on the streets instead of studying, and schemes like this could help them get an education. Also, in rural areas, many people lack paper currency, but have valuable assets, like livestock and farm produce. If they can exchange those for services like education, that will be fantastic.

Being truly independent means doing things as they suit your own societal conditions, not foreign conditions.

Nonsense.
Zimbabwe has one the highest literacy rate in the world. Just because Mugabe took lands away from illegal White immigrants does not mean you guys have the right to always present him as a villain. Get some help and read this, it is amazing for a country that was just independent in 1980s after a bitter war.

Ranking of African Countries By Literacy Rate: Zimbabwe No. 1

Posted by Editor / July 6, 2013

Below is the ranking of African countries by the literacy rate. This entry includes a definition of literacy and Census Bureau percentages for the total population, males, and females. There are no universal definitions and standards of literacy. Unless otherwise specified, all rates are based on the most common definition – the ability to read and write at a specified age (15 and above). Detailing the standards that individual countries use to assess the ability to read and write is beyond the scope of this article.

Mugabe's policies succeeded in redistributing the resources of the country away from a tiny white minority. The economic hardship started due to western sanctions against Zimbabwe. Don't blame Mugabe for doing right by his people. Blame the foreign thieves who want Zimbabwe to be their private property.
