He's right and is true in most African countries. They always feel we all have oil wells or something. I had a similar experience in Mauritius.

Negative. And false. The perception is generally not good.
That being said, its you the person that counts more than your geographical origin. Dont mistake goodness for weakness when you meet the everyday kenyan.

This is more true in developed country not in Africa. As for the perception of Nigerians not being generally good, i agree but that doesn't still rule out the fact that they still think Nigerians are wealthy. And who said anything about weakness. Take a chill pill.

Even the cab man told me Kenya women love Nigerian men because they are very generous.

like one of the comments above, it's has to do with personality. The people I've met so far seem to be very good to me and even invited me to their houses.
