It's not beneficial to anyone around here to have endless debates about which country is better, more developed or greener. I lived in Kenya in my very early teens and I've got both good and bad memories (no where on earth is perfect). Use whatever little you have to make things around you better.

I visited Nigeria for the first time last May 2016. One of my very close friend's dad passed away and I wanted to pay my final respects. After the funeral, I was taken for a few tours.

For the first time I ate real Nigerian food "no offense to my BFF's overseas who have always entertained me with Ogbono, Banga, Eba, Efo smiley" There was just something different about eating the same foods in Nigeria that felt wholesome smiley sorry girlies. I'm totally in love with Kpomo and Eba !!!

I spend 2 weeks both in Lagos and Benin. As a fellow African when you visit another African country people just assume you are from there. People just spoke to me in different dialects assuming I understood what they were saying (my friends kept laughing and correcting their relatives saying I was not even from Nigeria.) What I'm trying to say is that we are all African, nobody saw me as any different than the next person. Bottom line is I was given a very warm welcome, I was shown a lot of love and I enjoyed myself totally.

When I returned to my adopted home, everybody was excitedly waiting to hear first hand about my trip. Everybody commented on my smooth face. smiley smiley smiley What is in the Nigerian Water though shocked undecided My skin was glowing like a lit bulb, my face to be precise. I have mild acne and my breakouts cleared within a week, my face was so smooth. That is one of the things I will never forget about that trip. Thank goodness for the pictures I took. I find myself reminiscing because I'm back to ground zero.

When you get an opportunity to visit a different African country, always go with an open mind. That's the only way you'll enjoy the experience while you are theresmiley

Hmmmm Sist please educate them, I will be visiting Nairobi by December.

There's no bias intended when a tourist posts pics of beautiful African cities he visits.

The comparison was inevitable. We are both African nations. If they can get basic things done, if they've got access to basic amenities like 24/7 electricity, so should we.

The Nigerian people, leaders and culture of mediocrity have created an unsafe and unjust society where nothing works, theives reign and merit is worthless.

You can all keep up with the cognitive dissonance, but the honest fact is that we've created a horrible place for our next generation to live in.
God bless this brother WELA.. Look at today workers day Chris nigige asked his perm sec to stand unbehave of buhari. Were does that happen in world. And they were booking the perm sec.. Look at hungry every were.

The zoo them say we get wat awareness is shown about it.. Brother bless u for saying the truth.. Look at ameachi and ffk on channels arguing for money on live TV with out shame.. Nah

People were paid around May 2016 in Germany because production exceeded demand, it doesn't mean they're always paid to do this. Oya call another country in this world where they pay citizens to use light haha, enjoy your bann..

Yeah, I've seen documentaries where in developed countries, the extra power made from solar during the day time is added to the grid and deducted from the amount consumed from the national grid at night. I think Solar power is the way to go in Africa.

What do you mean by do we have all those amenities?
Squares are for relaxation. Don't we have relaxation spots in Nigeria? What of millenium park In Abuja?
What do u mean by do we have walkways? Do you live in the forest that u ask such a question?
I have lived in 5 places in Kaduna and one place in Abuja; that Is Gwagwalada. Out of all these places, it's only the place I am living in now that I have not been able to get public supply. In Gwagwalada the water supply was too constant.
As regards security, most places in Nigeria are relatively safe. Nigeria is made up of many states and cities and in most of them security is good. I have never seen an armed robber in my life! Don't generalize.

Please let us not go down that road
Just let the matter rest.
Nigeria has a lot to do in terms of improving its infrastructures , even tho those yabbing Nigeria should not be doing so.

That is just the truth

Yes, and this will happen with time, remember that most of our countries are relatively a lot younger than the Europeans (in terms independence) and most of these technologies originate from there, it's not the ways our ancestors used to harness from nature to meet their needs, they were more into using the medicinal and spiritual qualities of nature rather than for comfort like the Europeans and Asians are doing

Your response is mature unlike that little kid who keeps mentioning me and comparing Nigeria to the only country in the world that has ever paid citizens to use light, imagine the expectation of someone, we now have 24/7 solar energy providers but soon they will complain of something else, there's always a reason to complain, I'm sure the likes of him won't mind being paid to defecate

True, Kenya is majority black but there are minorities who are Asians and whites. Yeah and arabs. Their population is too small to own most of the businesses

I think it reflects the sad fact that the people who say such things have never travelled and mingled with people from other cultures. These are the same people who will see white Zimbabweans and call them British, forgetting that most of these white Africans have never even set foot outside Zimbabwe, and their ancestors have lived in Zimbabwe for generations. I have a white female friend in the UK who is originally from Zimbabwe, it's only recently she has started trying to get her indefinite stay UK visa. She is as white as any other British-born person. In Nairobi, there are communities dominated by people from somali descent, but they are 100% Kenyans. It's the same with Kenyans from Asian descent, some of them consider it offensive to label them as Asians, they are full-fledged Kenyans and they are proud of their Kenyan heritage.
True and most Somalis in Kenya are not of Somali decent, they are from North Eastern province of Kenya. So technically not immigrants. There are immigrants however, those from Somalia

I still do not believe that Eve caused the downfall of Adam.

Adam had the option to choose right from wrong but made a wrong choice.

Adam was responsible for the choices he made.

I think this pidgin2 of a girl is linked to all those unscrupulous politicians that is why she keeps taking sides with them and see nothing wrong with the way they are piloting the affairs of Nigeria.

you guys should ignore that thing, i am sure she has not left her village since she was born that is why she still have that kind of mentality. she should be living in a jungle dragging banana with monkeys for her breakfast lunch and dinner

Okay, thanks to y'all who ruined a beautiful thread with unnecessary bickering.

I am only going to say a few things:

We learn everyday, and we can learn from anything. The people who will remain backward and be considered "illiterates" in a few years time are the people who refused to open their minds to seep in knowledge.

I love Nigerians. We are patriotic and can go lengths to prove to others our country is better.

But, NIGERIANS, we fvcking have to wake up! Other countries of the continent are leaving us behind to chase the dust raised by their meteoric rise. Stop deluding yourself that everything is alright. No, it's not.

The world knows it. You know it. And I know it.

Instead of defending the backwardness brought about by our corrupt and evil leaders, it's time to do something that will salvage our country before it's too late.

I've always known Kenya to be a beautiful country because I'm an open-minded person who's also adventurous. But this thread even beat my expectations and it was from here I even learnt that getting admission in Kenya is easier (Demiladegold2013, please I'd love you to answer a few questions concerning getting my sister to a school there).

Has that made me jealous? No. It has only fuelled the anger and bitterness I have towards life in this country.

So stop "defending" Nigeria against other countries out of jealousy. Be happy for them and let's use their advancement as a propellant towards changing ours for the better

The first step to that is realizing that our country is far behind. The truth hurts.

Nice one Bedlam, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I be hitting the Gambia later in the year... And I hope to find the resources and time to squeeze Kenya in for later.

Peace.

I won't pity u sister.. Lemme talk about calabar alone.. After Donald left, wen imoke entered did u hear anything about that place again.. If they have Nigerian at heart won't that place u mentioned be booming now? Abeg abeg just behave ooo..

Honestly bro its a pity , my friend got posted to calabar and the first thing I told him is to let me know when he gets to Tinapa, the shocking news I got is that tinapa is a complete shadow of itself, asin completely dead ...millions of dollars gone down the drain...how about obudu, when was the last time you saw any kind of promotion like they did before on NTA?

have u ever heard anything about ikogosi warm spring of recent ? or who will dare go to yankari in this book haram era

The truth is pidgin2, I understand you perfectly ...I love my country too and I hate it when anyone talks bad about my country in anyway but patriotism aside the truth needs to be told at times so the government can sit up. We have so many tourist attractions and great places in Nigeria but tourism is dead here .

I was actually thinking of Dubai or Europe this year but bedlam as just convinced me Kenya it is . I'm gonna save money too cheesy

PS: the Pic below is Farinruwa in Nasarawa state the second highest water fall in africa....No government promotion nothing ...this place alone could generate millions for the dying state of nasarawa
