EFCC, Mr Mimiko and Rotimi Akeredolu needs some explaining to do

“We have said this many times, we must be prepared to pay sacrifices because we don’t borrow money to pay salaries. If they (workers) meet and say they waive two months, we will be glad, but if they insist on having the full arrears, we will look for ways of paying,” Mr. Akeredolu said.

“I will have to address the workers to let them know that it’s not possible to use all our money to pay salaries,” he added.

This is one of the most stupidest post I've ever read in my life.

Wait a minute, someone borrows money to feed himself, his family, and meet up with his social and religious responsibilities only to be told to waive his salary because of what?

How many government officials have waived their salary or don't they know that one percent of their sacrifice will fix the whole country?

This is not just stupid but it is also an insult on the intelligence of these hardworking individuals.

Pathetic and painful indeed!

Who be this imbicile talking trash here? I'm sure he can't truly be a governor. How much is he willing to sacrifice from his own salary to offset the bill of people whose sweat and time was use in accumulating the salary being paid to me him? Are no longer a nation? Have we truly lost our senses as a nation or we are just the animal people call us?
What is happening to APC? If they don't know what to do why can't they hand over power to those who knows. So this fool CNT think of what to do to generate income, and yet we still see people following them with broom all around. When a hole was found in the umbrella and we felt the touch of the rain, we were all angry and needed to sweep them out, but now that the broom is no longer useful we can burn it to ashes

Lol! Is it not better for the civil servants to be unemployed? Instead of wasting their time and going to work, unpaid and incurring personal debts, then you now say you can't pay them for their time wasted.

Is it not better to sit under tree and sell groundnut and bananas instead of this rubbish?

Anyway shebi na dem vote the governor, let them sacrifice

When citizens think this way, then it shows how bad our political system is, that even your right which should be given to you now becomes a favour done by a politician. Ughh angry so

Reportedly He promised to pay the outstanding angry such a statement from him is callous sad angry
olujastro:
People don't read but just hurry to criticize as if they're getting a cheque for it. If you read the story you'll see so much sincerity coming from the new governor who just came in February and inherited this horrible mess. I'm beginning to like him after reading this, compared to that "youth governor" they call Yahaya Bello.

“I know it is not easy but it is also getting increasingly difficult for the government, too, but whatever we do, we will try not to owe salaries,” the governor said.

SaharaReporters learned that the governor has paid three months’ salaries - February, March and April - to the government workers of the state.

Our correspondent reported that Mr. Akeredolu has also paid one out of six months’ outstanding salaries owed to the workers by the immediate past governor, Olusegun Mimiko.

All I see are inconsistencies in figures. They said wage bill is now 3.9bmonthly. They are owing 6 months arrears inherited from mimiko amounting to 38.57bn. And they paid 1month out of the six months leaving a balance of 34.5bn for five months.
From the statements above:
6months = 38.57bn
5months = 34.5bn
And 1 month= 3.9bn.

So how come 5months is still giving 34.5 when monthly wage bill is approximately 4bn? It should be a max of 20bn for 5months unless there's something else they have not told us. Did they review salaries downwards in the state?

There is a kind of personal sacrifice a true leader should have made himself before having the guts to make this sort of statement in public. There's a kind of personal commitment and selflessness a true leader should have displayed before making this sort of appeal to hungry workers and while it may be met with disapproval by the workers, it wouldnt attract a single insult.

Even though the money owed is from his predecessors, even though he's shown some honesty and openness in the issue, this is definitely an irresponsible statement made to helpless hungry and angry workers.
