The former governor of the old Western State (1967-71).under the Gowon administration Robert Adeyinka Adebayo (9 March 1928 – 8 March 2017) was a Nigerian Army Major General who served as governor of the now defunct the Western State of Nigeria, 1966–1971.He was also Chief of Staff of the Nigerian Army and was Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy. For those of you who do not know...Western State included all the states presently in the South West, Lagos excepted. It was divided in 1976 by Murtala into Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, then later on Osun was carved out of Oyo in 1991, then Ekiti was carved out of Ondo in 1996. Why is Fayose prominent in the pics? The only good thing i see is the lush green in the background of some of the pictures. You can not get this in the city where the ocean and lagoon cover |

The General on the need to avoid war re Biafra (May 1967) "I need not tell you what horror, what devastation and what extreme human suffering will attend the use of force. When it is all over and the smoke and dust have lifted, and the dead are buried, we shall find, as other people have found, that it has all been futile, entirely futile, in solving the problems we set out to solve." Fayose is a f00l and an epic disgrace to ekiti state. His actions seriously questions whether or not it is actually true that ekiti state is the "fountain of knowledge". He has turned the burial to his own political campaign/jamboree. How can he show such great disrespect and disdain to the late General Adebayo and his family ? 2 Likes |

9jakohai:Those were his words at the Aburi Accord. He was indeed a Pacifist. He knew the futility and eventual carnage a civil war will bring to the country. He, as the miitary administrator of the Western region was not ready to fight a needless war, but ojukwu the leader of we igbos insisted that we igos go to war. The result was a catastrophic defeat, while ojukwu himslef cowradly ran away to Abidjan 14 Likes |
