You can even read it here on your Ghanian website, Nigeria is a failed state and yet for years Ghana were in debt to same Nigeria with millions of dollars for supply of gas.

Do you know better than your vice president who knows the importance of strengthening ties with this failed state?

That is how it is

to sign the EPA.

Ghana signed the interim agreement in July, 2016, and Mr. Kyerematen told Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday that he would advise Ghana’s president to use “quiet diplomacy” to ensure that Nigeria becomes part of the agreement.

“We will encourage our brothers in Nigeria, because we were negotiating as an economic bloc; also to be able to do what is necessary, to enable all of us come together, as a regional bloc to be able to complete the process,” the Trade Minister-designate said.

He also noted that “ECOWAS without Nigeria would not be strong enough” to go into the agreement, and would also “destroy” its fundamentals because the agreement was to be negotiated and signed as a regional bloc.

The EPAs are not good for us for very grave reasons. Too bad almost all the countries have obliged. Kenya was shut off the EU market for sometime before she got back on the table and accepted the unfair trade deal. I can only hope for Africa's inability to enforce laws to survive this onslaught sad

its called Ecowas
Yes read the article carefully, it says ECOWAS cannot go into it without the signature of regional powerhouse Nigeria. In another place it clearly says that ECOWAS would not be strong enough to go into the deal without Nigeria, and the deal would have to be dissolved, just because it is without one country's signature, the failed state for that matter.

Kenya has over 540 chartered tertiary institutions including 51 universities. That's 1 university per 881,000 people. How many has Nigeria?
51 universities? We have close to 200 universities in nigeria.

Like I said we are not in your league.

Exactly and that's why Nigeria would not partake in such a deal when it comes to ECOWAS.

The pressure is being mounted on the relatively wealthier countries in every region. Once they are Isolated and punished, they are forced to oblige. But the EPAs are so far reaching in their consequenses to the extent that member countries can only trade with fellow signatories. So if Ghana bows to pressure, they will lose Nigeria as a trading partner and vice versa. That's why Ghana is mounting pressure on Nigeria. Kenya also became a signatory first in East Africa and had to beg other East African markets (countries) to join so save her trade.

That is the level of control that Europe still wields over Africa. Nigeria and ECOWAS is doing a great thing by resisting. But a time will come when she will join to save her economy from collapse once her important trade partners become signatories.

That someone can actually derive joy that an external country builts a space launch facility in your country without the participation of your government is a wonder to behold

Kenya can never in anyway measure up to nigeria, heck ehiopia has more influence and diplomatic power than you.

Idi Amin was not Luo. Milton Obote was. Idi Amin was of a Sudanic ethnicity that's closely related to Luos though. His cannibalism was not an ethnic culture but more of an individual thing and has also never been verified. Just hearsay and speculation.

Yeah Nigeria would not sign though....
Since coming to power in 2015 in a landmark electoral victory, President Buhari of Nigeria has made the diversification of the economy his signature obsession, and understandably so. The region’s heavyweight economy relies on the export of oil for up to 90% of its foreign exchange reserves and crashing oil prices, which have continued to fall after a brief surge in January. In response, Buhari’s administration has embarked on an ambitious, but controversial, set of policies to ensure radical industrial adjustment.

Powerful lobbies within Nigeria have opposed the EPA, suggesting that it endangers this effort by the government. The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has raised concerns over the import liberalisation of manufacturing inputs and finished consumer goods. It argues that with the resurgence of Nigerian manufacturing in its nascent stages, the influx of cheaper European goods – even in fifteen to twenty years – would come too soon.

The EPA Development Programme, which has committed €6.5 billion to help West African states adjust to global competition, does little to allay these concerns. First of all, there is a lack of clarity in the official document of how this would look in practice. Secondly, Nigeria has pointed out that the financial sources of the programme (which include the EDF and EU state budgets) already provide assistance irrespective of the EPA. Finally, even if this fund was allocated to Nigeria in its entirety, it would barely make a dent in Nigeria’s funding gap – the country’s infrastructure gap alone is valued at $8 billion annually.

So they are giving that much aid? Just shows how desperate Europe has gotten after the recent recession. I've also noted an increase in precious metal "discoveries" all over Africa (of course, owned by European companies.)

I however think Africa will weather this too. It may kill some industries here but uniquely African systems that are resistant will rise and take over.

Any country that sign such an Agreement has officially sold their country, did you know that after signing the EPA, the country will have to consult the EU for any trade policy that the country wants to implement.

Nigeria has nothing, absolutely nothing to gain from such an agreement.

God! I cant believe this. Okay, I will also stop believing the common narratives about colonialism, aparthied, JFK, RFK, MLK, Tom Mboya, August '82 coup in Kenya, Rwanda genocide and that Biafra never happened.
Tommorrow u gonna reset everything I have read and heard about the past events

Hbuyosh, let me repost what I told someone on this very thread back in Dec.
I was in Journalism. Was a freelancer for a while quit when I realised two things:
most people believe the exact opposite of the truth
they won't thank you when told the truth.
......Anyway I've tried many things since leaving journalism in 02 and am now in aquaculture. I still remain a truth seeker at heart ; a searcher after the actual - which explains my presence here.

I give you,(drumroll!),the black Nazis!!

The first is a volunteer with the Arab SS legion. The second biracial guy is actually with an SS unit! Those boys were a true Elite. 3rd and 4th are unidentified armed auxiliaries. Tbh,there weren't many minimum hundreds, max maybe 1500 out of the 1mn+ who served in the tri services. I strongly suspect many may have been the remaining Original Catholics who lost out in the racial/religious wars of Europe in 1600s-1800s.
