Hello, wow this thread has been most informative. GOD bless you all for taking out time to respond to questions. @WellEndowed please I need your advice..... I am a recent graduate, just finished NYSC this April. I have a BSc in medical physiology and my service was at a teaching hospital as an Echocardiographer which is related to my field but I am looking at going into nursing. I have been researching graduate entry masters in Nursing and looking at applying for monash and university of Queensland but it's really expensive. so I am really considering scholarship opportunities. Do you feel I have a chance here, is my plan feasible?? Would you advice me to go for another route? I need your expertise and experience to help me with any useful information. Sorry for the lengthy post. Look forward to your response. 2 Likes |

PHUMEELAYO: In a minute @bellong E ma binu. Help me out here and you might have even answered this question 20 million times. Does NYSC count towards the work experience required by DIPB? |

PHUMEELAYO: Some schools offer some form of scholarship but mostly for people enrolling for a Masters by research program. There are two types of programs here 1. Master by coursework 2. Masters by research just like doctor of philosophy (phd)...this one is known as Master of philosophy . No. 2 offers more scholarship opportunities however most masters by research students need to have a bachelors degree with honours(google that) or a masters degree with a considerable amount of research in it or some years of experience in their field of choice. The amount offered for scholarship is what I don't know. You might need to cough up some thousands of dollars per term. Unfortunately you will have to research that. Look into schools in Perth Western Australia. I have heard of a school there that offers international students full scholarship to undertake a masters by research |

WellEndowed: Did I mention I like you already?? True. Public health has so many branches. But I really do like Infectious diseases. I like the challenges it poses and the various opportunities that come with it. I plan to do some volunteering work while undergoing the 6 month course. This way, I can get my foot in the door with some experience, albeit short. MSc na later things. After i must have garnered some years of relevant experience. Something along the lines of Global health and infectious diseases. I have a dream. . . (In Oga Luther's voice) No PhD for me. I don old. Nna, checki godu your PM. Rapu that story of forgetting PW. Oma'n worku this time around. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Good afternoon house. I want to find out about migrating thru skilled trade such as fashion designing and hairdressing. I know these skills are assessed by TRA. But what type of Nigerian certificate of training can one tender for assessment. Can a 3months course in hairdressing be used? |
Re: Where Are Nigerians In Australia . by OlalekanKad(m): 1:51am On May 27, 2017 |
Fashion Designer in Australia is Skill Level 1 and according to Anezsco, the equivalent qualification required is Bachelor degree whilst Hair Dresser is Skill level 3 and according to Anezsco, equivalent qualification required is certificate III or IV. So to answer your question, TRA recently stopped accepting work experience to substitute for formal qualification. They regard a Formal qualification as one that was taken within the period of two years passing through classrooms and workshop training's so at such they will be needing you to submit an academic transcript. Far back 2 years and even last year, if you did a 3 month course and you have a vast work experience, they will accept it. I have a friend here in Sydney who is not on this forumn, I will ask for him for more information on your case because they also accept an apprenticeship certificate but am not sure of the other backing documents you will need. You should be able to do the assessment of the Hairdresser but that of Fashion Designer, you will definitely need a bachelor degree. Fashion designer here in Australia is taken seriously like an engineering course in Nigeria. princessayinke: 1 Like |
