Bantu expansion was one of the most epic movement of African people. It happened due to the human desire to expand and explore, but the major factor that pushed it on was the discovery of iron, and the weapons and tools that came with it. The Bantu expansion started in the middle to late iron age and went on till the arrival of the colonialists. Thus the Xhosa were still expanding by the time the whites arrived. This group then spread south all the way to South Africa. This is why Bantus from Central Africa don't know much about or keep cattle.
