Spectranet's throttling speed is not 1.2mb/s

It is max 120kb/s

I am talking about the midnight.. And I have tested it
It is 1.2mb/s ( the lowest I have gotten is 800kb/s midnight) maybe it's your location

What am really concerned about is how these ISP s are cheating us by putting a cap on everything
I will rather do etisalat.. I get 6mb/s on my 4g
But it's like burning dollars

Please spare us the canned customer care stories.

The max speed I got before they started throttling was 3.2mb/s

If you've gone through all of the providers you should be fully aware that their router speeds occur only in the imaginations of their marketers.

You are not doing Spectranet any favours by parroting their advert claims.

Am I the cause of your problem?

@Singapore1 and @Oyb are both right, Oyb is paying for 18k unlimited, after 100gb the speed throttles to 512kb/s, while @Singapore1 is talking about the unlimited night plan of 10k (i guess), they throttle that to 10mb/s.

The guy get issue.. I told him I haven't used the 100gb
As I am only using the 12.5k own..
And if he can go back to previous page he will see my screenshots of IDM
The speed I get daily is location dependent

Heh. The speed trolling war has already been won. And I will take any claims by a Nigerian of 6mb/s with a handful of salt.

Maybe I will try the unlimited night plan to see for myself. I left Spectranet for Ntel when they started throttling the night plan. I was getting 50kb/s which reverted to 1mb/s after 7am.

I am very sceptical of unlimited plans.

Just about every 'unlimited' plan has a cap. But right from the days of blackberry, all the isps have been hiding that truth

Maybe its your location, but as a previous subscriber to Spectranet's night plan, I think you simply haven't passed their fup threshold.

It will be odd business to throttle a higher paying customer, but these companies have funny policies.

When Starcomms was still alive, it was cheaper to have two separate modems on their day and night plan( 7k +5k) than single modem on a 24 hour plan ( I think it was 15k)

So a 12.5k plan may be more data friendly than an 18k plan. I may try it at the end of this period.

I understand what you are saying.. Perfectly well..
Me myself I don't trust spectranet and I am ready to leave if I notice anything out of ordinary.. But for now they are the best option and smile is the next thing to spectranet.. So I am on my toes already.. No friends forever..

Also the speed I am getting now, I was not getting it before ( around last year July I hardly see 1mb/s same location, same plan) but now I am getting more speed.. Just like they said on their site, they hold the right to throttle your speed at any giving time.. Maybe the speed we are seeing is just for marketing purpose . Once the promo is off, I bounce too

I will try and be awake tonight and retest the speed myself because the last time I browse at night was two weeks ago when I tested the night browsing speed..
I will try and test again tonight and post the speed here using idm or es explorer downloader

And also I make sure I don't exhaust my normal data cap as I think that can affect my midnight browsing speed ( I guess that what you are experiencing)

Its been stopped now. It started when they rolled out 4g to promote it. Get a 4g sim or a new device and get double data for 6 months. Now its been reduced to 20%.

No wonder my new sim's data lasts. Thanks, 20% is not that bad at all.

Ur own good. Mine doesn't go past 3MB at any point and almost never gets there. 95% of times I'm downloading at 1MB/s+

And at night. Around 1.29MB/s which seems to be an obvious 10Mbps throttle

I am currently using wifi.com.ng (Tizeti) after i jumped ship on Ntel grin Went back to Swift but wasn't really satisfied so i researched more on wifi.com.ng
Advantages: Unlimited data, Constant strong signal strength(because its a fixed connection)
Disadvantages: Not mobile , Power supply issue (it needs to be powered on by electrical mains)

Thanks for this heads up.

What maximum/sustained throughput speed should one reasonably expect to get? (I checked on wifi.com.ng but could not locate such pre-sale info.) Thanks in advance.

i get decent download speed of 2-3MB/s at any given time of the day cool
Since about a week of usage, I just had only one downtime early this morning which was restored within an hour

Since MTN stopped double data on my sim I decided to look for an alternative. Oh how I miss MTN 4g.. incredibly fast and I use to get 20gb with 5k, 44gb with 10k which I normally finish in 3 weeks but the speed is insane.

anyway I remembered I still had an ntel sim with my unlocked modem... I threw it away when the speed was unbearable. luckily i found it after thorough searching, subscribed for the 2 days plan and was impressed at impproved speed. So decided to do the 1 month unlimited plan for 12,500. Its been 2 weeks now and I'm impressed. It serves my whole house, about 7 devices and there ha been no complains. Speed is not as good as MTN 4g but still decent. At least I was able to update my battlefield 1 for ps4 which is around 7gb. I started downloading by 1am and by the time I woke up around 7am download was already complete. I have not experienced any throttling either, streaming youtube at 480p is breeze, minimum lag at 720p (at night no lag). I think Ntel have improved at least in my area, I get just 2 network bars but download speed is around 4-7mbps during the day with ping of around 100ms, but from midnight speed improves to around 15mbps with ping of around 30ms. I have used 61.5gb in 2 weeks and still going. Speed is not as good as MTN 4g but I must say it gets the job done, now I don't have t worry about downloading or streaming.
