AIG07:
I was opportuned to watch CMR play today. Though it was barely for 20mins or so.

*MY DEDUCTIONS*
I'll be highlighting few things i discovered from my short stint infront of the Tv set.

*STRENGTH*
the camerounians strength lies much in their
Pace,
ruggedness,
with strength and play a sort of compact of football.

The team possesses fast and pacy wingers in Bassogog and Moukandjo which presently, I don't see any of our fullbacks matching up against them strength for strength and if care is not taking they can wreck havoc from both sides of the wings...

Another major concern for any attack is the compactness in which their defence is organized...

*HOW TO NEUTRALIZE THEM*
-we need to deploy a 4-2-3-1 that can easily switch to 4-4-2 formation tactics cos playing wide against them will be futile.

-Iheanacho should either play as an AMF/SS else his service won't be needed in the 9 role.

-Iwobi should not start this encounter.

-A Sharp and fit Victor Moses will be needed on the LW-his solo runs and dribbles will be needed to unlock their defence and providing cover for Echiejile.

-Mikel should play the CMF role with Onazi/Ndidi
playing the DMF.

-Our DMF should be concern more with shielding the defence and allow the CMF to do the attacking job-this is very important as our full backs is our weekest link

- Finally, No one should be played out of position.

Watched the full game. In this regard u would have serious doubts about playing Iwobi in this match, simply not physical enough with limited pace. As wayward as Moses Simon's final ball can be he may have better succes against Cameroon.

KC will have to learn the rugged art of destabilising central defenders particularly in the absence of clever passes to support him if we play him as a No. 9

Have no doubt Cameroon have pace on the wings Echiejile will have to be very alert because he will not match them for pace.

They Cameroon lack team cohesion however, so do we sometimes but we are somewhat better than Cameroon.

We really need Mikel( Essential) and if we can stop wasting time and get Aluko in then these are intelligent calm and collected experienced players.

I really think we should be having another look at a resurgent Efe.

We need to find a true No. 9 to put pressure on the Cameroon CB's I want to see them bullied into making mistakes.

Currently best man for the job if Injury free Anichebe, he will create room for KC, Moses and any others to join the attack.

Finally a game for men not boys.

I would rather have the experience guile, speed, strength and technique of Obagoal than KC or Kayode whether you like it or not Obagoal is tried and tested.

Supported by the beast at least that's what most defenders call Anichebe in England on his day unplayable if he can only remain Injury free.

But we should also keep our eyes out for any new Nigerian player that kicks off in the EPL and creates a storm.

Removing all sentiments (that he is Nigerian etc) overall he doesn't look impressive to me. If I were a coach and a scout sent me that clip, i won't be eager to sign him.

Whether he should get a call by Rohr, of course will depend on who we already have as an AMF and the opposition at hand.

*clearing throat* grin

Out of his 16 shots at goal (I no count the two goals he scored with his head oooo) grin

Only 4 were off target, 2 were blocked by the Defenders though goal bound, 2 were saved by the keeper, one hit the post and 7 were buried into the net.

Out of 7 long range shoots from outside the box 18, 3 were off target, 1 was brilliantly saved by the keeper and 3 were buried into the net.

How come some said his shooting, strikes and scoring ability are poor? shocked grin

Una sure dem watch the match? grin

Besides, his ball control, stamina, dribbling skills, pace, ability to defend, long range pass, through pass, ability to transform defense to attack etc connotes with the modern day attacking midfielder. Three gbosa for Ajagun! grin

Are you people minding Forgiveness? undecided

He analyses football with a three-layered blindfold when it comes to Players like Iheanacho.

He keeps making a case for Solanke and Ajagun and we know why.

His analysis reeks of pure hate for certain players and blind love for others.... he will cook up any statement to spill nonsense to castigate our fine young footballers.

This was how he called me a liar for saying Iheanacho dusted Solanke in the 2015/16 season when both were given playing time (with Iheanacho have far lesser time and starts compared to Solanke) and I dropped the stats and burst his bubble.

Now he is here typing more trash...

Guys and ladies.... In my own analyses, I have clamored for Ajagun to be given a chance and also Aluko. I have also said I think Solanke can add something to our team if we can get him... but I will never run a player down with so much painful hate in the name of objectivity.

Bia Forgiveness.... this is why people hardly take you serious here. You really have to calm down and analyse soccer like a gentleman and not throwing careless comments like "I have no doubt that the national team is a cult".... who told you?? undecided Where is thy proof?

Freedom of expression does not mean you come and spill lies and comments devoid of intelligent analysis biko. Plsss check yourself. Thank You.

Olarewaju Kayode Agent Confirms Talks With CSKA Moscow As Austria Wien Signs Replacement

The agent of Super Eagles forward Olarewaju Kayode has confirmed talks are on between his client and teams in Russia as the forward inch closer to a move away from Austria Wien.

Already the Austrian side have signed Christoph Monschein from Admira Wacker for the 24 year old Kayode who was voted the best player in the Austrian Bundesliga aside finishing as top scorer.

According to the Sports Director of Austrian Wien Franz Wolhfahrt Kayode’s possible destination will be known over the weekend as his representatives are scheduled to meet with the two Moscow giants, CSKA Moscow and Lokomotive Moscow.

Spartak Moscow were priced out of a deal for the forward who according to his intermediary will cost interested parties a transfer fee in the region of €4m. A fee which for now looks more likely to be met by CSKA Moscow.

” Moscow will be interesting in any case”, his agent Franz Herzog said when quizzed about the possibility of his client ending up at any of the Moscow based outfit.

Aside the interest from Russia, an unnamed team in Germany and another in Italy have also sounded out the forward, while Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes who recently sold their last season top scorer Moussa Marega to FC Porto are also in for him.

Exclusive – Belgium Side Sint Truiden Open Talks With Liverpool Over Loan Deal For Awoniyi

Belgium top division side Sint Truiden have opened talks with Liverpool over their Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi who has been made available for a loan deal by the club.

Although Liverpool prefer the 19 year old to have his third loan spell in England after playing on loan in Germany and Netherlands, the club are however opened to the idea of letting him leave to a club outside England due to uncertainty over their application for a work permit.

Swedish side Kalmar who were compensated when Awoniyi moved to Liverpool in two years ago have confirmed their interest while an unnamed team in Turkey is also keen on the services of Awoniyi who spent last season on loan to relegated Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.

STVV as Sint Truiden are called in Belgium have a nice relationship with Liverpool and they are hoping to use it to good effect in their bid to land the forward who is widely regarded as one of the finest young forwards in Nigerian football.

A decision on his next loan destination will be revealed before the end of the current transfer window with Awoniyi also keen on having pre season with the team he will be spending time on loan with next season.

Rohr Will Break Eagles Rule On Players In Europe Second Tier League For Chelsea Ola Aina

A source close to the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has confirmed that Chelsea Ola Aina will still be in the frame for a call up to the senior national team of Nigeria even if he joins a team in the second tier of English football.

Aina has already applied for a switch of nationality from England to Nigeria, but his switch is yet to be formally approved by FIFA, which is why he didn’t play for Nigeria in their 0-2 loss to South Africa in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers.

Former coach of the Super Eagles Sunday Oliseh introduced the rule of barring players playing in second tier league during his reign as coach of the team, but it appears Rohr isn’t keen on maintaining the rule.

Aina is heavily linked with a move to the English Championship side Norwich City and Hull City from Chelsea in order for him to get game time, but a close source to Rohr claims it won’t have any effect on his potential call up to the senior national team of Nigeria.

” I’m hearing about the rule for the first time, but that said Aina is still at Chelsea, and even if he moves to the Championship, his future with Nigeria won’t be affected by playing in English second tier league”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Already the manager has seen what he likes in him, but you must also consider the Championship, it’s a very competitive league with players of various nationals playing in it. Beside it’s rated by many as the fourth strongest league in Europe. So it isn’t bad at all”.

Brighton and Hove Albion, and Huddersfield Town are the two other clubs who also won promotion to the EPL.

On their part, Mainz escaped relegation last season as they finished 15th in the 18-team German Bundesliga.

Balogun who is still recuperating from injury, made 17 league appearances for Mainz last term.

Put aside Anichebe injury problems put him in the Austrian league how many goals will he score in comparison to Kayode.

You used the word future I recall, some may have forgottem but this Kayode that is one for the future had big question marks raised about his age in 2009.

In this regard if Anichebe and Aluko were in Naija they would easily have cut off 5+ years off thier ages. So let's leave this one for the future matter, we know ourselves.

KC I can agree is younger and of course Iwobi is a clear youth.

Kayode and KC can not carry the forward line for Nigeria with our current team set up they lack the aggressive presence to trouble Cameroons muscle head CB's, if we want to be realistic.

Samuel Eto’o Warns Cameroon – Mikel’s Presence Inspires Super Eagles

Cameroon soccer legend Samuel Eto’o Fils have praised his country soccer national team for their performance at the ongoing FIFA Confederation Cup in Russia.

Eto’o praised the boys of coach Hugo Broos for their commending display but warned the team to expect a different ball game altogether when they take on group leaders Nigeria in the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers.

The qualifiers will resume in September with Nigeria taking on Cameroon in back to back games, which will go a long way in determining who finishes as group winners.

Cameroon current trail Nigeria with four points in second position, but Eto’o has warned them not to approach the Nigeria game with the 0-2 loss Nigeria suffered against South Africa at the back of their mind.

He said the lost to South Africa in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers is no yardstick to write Nigeria off as the loss happened in the absence of their influential captain John Obi Mikel.

According to Eto’o Mikel who was at a time his teammate at Chelsea inspires the young boys in the Nigerian team whenever he is on the pitch, and it could be the case when they play Cameroon with Mikel expected to play in the game after overcoming his fitness issues.

KC is not a stand alone striker in the mold of Drogba, Lukaku, Anichebe, Ibrahimovic, Balotelli.

He needs support to be effective otherwise he will be out of his comfort zone and almost invisible. The match against a far less physical and aggressive SA and indeed even the game against Senegal exposed these limitations in his game.

5 Top Facts About African Teams In FIFA Confederations Cup History

African players, coaches and teams have made landmark achievements in the history of the FIFA Confederations Cup which was hitherto known as the King Fahd Cup.

Completesportsnigeria.com's IZUCHUKWU OKOSI recalls five of the records created by these Africans at the tournament which is a dress rehearsal for the FIFA World Cup the following year.

1. Abdoulaye Traore – First African goal scorer at the Confederation Cup, formerly King Fahd Cup

Only four teams; Saudi Arabia, USA, Cote d' Ivoire and Argentina took part in the maiden edition of the tournament which was then known as the King Fahd Cup. So each team played two games.

The Cote d' Ivoire national team, winners of the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal represented Africa and thus played two knock out matches against Argentina (lost 4-0) and USA (lost 5-2).

Abdoulaye Traore scored the Ivorians' first goal in the defeat to the USA in the third place match on 19 October 1992 and thus became the first African player to score at the tournament.

2. Egypt – First African team to defeat a world champions the Confederations Cup

In one of the most entertaining matches in the history of the FIFA Confederations Cup, African champions Egypt defeated 2006 World Champions Italy 1-0 on 18 June 2009 with a performance to remember.

Youngster Mohamed Homos scored the Pharaohs' goal in the game but the more significant fact was that it became the first win of an African team over a reigning world champion at the tournament.

The performance of the Egyptians, crowned with their win against the Azurri, was widely celebrated even by neutrals who felt the African representatives were unjustly robbed of a win in their previous game against Brazil, no thanks to some spurious officiating in a narrow 4-3 defeat.

3. Nigeria's Nnamdi Oduamadi – first African hat-trick scorer Super Eagles forward Nnamdi Odumadi joined the privileged list of players to have scored hat-tricks at the FIFA Confederations Cup when he struck thrice in Nigeria's 6-1 thrashing of Tahiti in their first game of the tournament in 2013 in Brazil.

The Super Eagles, champions of Africa after the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa in 2013, arrived Brazil rather late but early enough for the game against their opponents at the Estadio Mineirao Belo Horizonte on 17 June 2013.

Oduamadi, nicknamed 'Robinho', scored in the 10th, 26th and 76th minutes of the game while the other goals came from Nicolas Vallar (OG) and Jonathan Tahau (OG), and Elderson Echiejile.

Vladimír Šmicer, Ronaldo, Romário, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Marzouk Al-Otaibi, Ronaldinho, Luciano Figueroa, Fernando Torres, David Villa and Abel Hernández are the other players to have scored a Confederations Cup hat-trick, with Torres the only player to achieve a hat-trick

Torres, Blanco and Hernández are the only players to have scored four in a match.

4. South Africa – First Africa's Fair Play Winners, in 1997)

The Bafana of South Africa won the FIFA Play award in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup held in Saudi Arabia despite finishing bottom of Group B of the tournament.

They are the only African team to have been handed this honour at the tournament.

Phil Masinga was shown a yellow card in the 45th minute of the game against Czech Republic which ended 2-2 at the King Fahd International Stadium, Riyahd on 13 December 1997.

John Moeti and Eric Tinkler were booked in the South Africans' last group game against Uruguay which they lost 4-3.

The overall conduct of the team and officials of the Bafana Bafana were well noted by FIFA.

5. Shaibu Amodu – Youngest African Coach at the Confederation Cup

Shuaibu Amodu, born 18 April 1958, was only 37 years old when he led Nigeria's Super Eagles to the second edition of the King Fahd Cup which later became the FIFA Confederations Cup.

The onetime BCC Lions of Gboko head coach had the hoonour of being the youngest coach at the tournament. That has been broken by New Zealand English-born coach at the 2017 Confederations Cup, Anthony Hudson, born 11 March 1981 but Amodu still the youngest coach among the African representatives.

Amodu's Eagles' finished second with four points in Group B behind Argentina with same number of points but the
Argentines had a better goal difference (+4, while Nigeria had +3).Nigeria defeated Japan 3-0 (with goals from Amuneke, Adepoju and Amokachi). They then drew scoreless against Argentina.

The Eagles, winners of the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations, were fourth placed team after losing 5-4 on penapties (1-1 at regulation time) against Mexico.

If you put Isaac Success in Man city with the kind of support given to the forward players, he will score goals.

KC true test will be when he goes to Leicester or West Ham and finds far less quality approach play and support. Then he will have his true baptism and his true quality will be seen.

At the ongoing Confed Cup, I saw Raul Jimenez, Mexico's Big natural no.9 flunk against Portugal. No shot on target and his hold-up play Xtic was meaningless. He only came to life against New Zealand.

I also saw Vincent Aboubakar, the player some folks wanna hype so much, miss glaring chances against A less physically powerful/imposing and slow Australian side. If he was Iheanacho... we will be hearing that this guy is useless as a no.9.... why don't they term Aboubakar useless??

Fact is at least Two of those many chances Aboubakr threw away as the natural no.9/striker that he is will be buried with emphasis By Kelechi Iheanacho... EPL's Deadliest Forward in goals per mins ratio.

It is unfair and purely fallacious to say Iheanacho is not good in the CF role. He is good... he lacks the strength to hold up play properly.. yes. He cannot really play with his back to goal akin to Drogba, Costa, et al.. yes. But he improvises beautifully and that has made him The Deadliest Striker in EPL history for goals per min ratio for players with 10+ goals and above since August 2015!!!!!

Nacho is Good as a no.9/top striker... but he is far better as an SS and An AmF. Chikena.

So truth is... I cannot see pass Iheanacho starting against Cameroun for now unless he is injured.

Kayode is am option. Why are you guys not considering him?? You mention martins... I can even manage Ideye.

Abeg... KC/Iheanacho/Nacho/Kelechi is the best no.9/Top striker we have now. #Fact

There is a whole lot more to being a top striker than just being physical and hold-up play and playing with back to goal.

komekn:

KC is not a stand alone striker in the mold of Drogba, Lukaku, Anichebe, Ibrahimovic, Balotelli.

He needs support to be effective otherwise he will be out of his comfort zone and almost invisible. The match against a far less physical and aggressive SA and indeed even the game against Senegal exposed these limitations in his game.

I completely disagree with you.

Success has been playing as a winger most of the times he was at Granada. Even at Watford, He is still played from the wings. And his finishing is not as deadly or as renowned as Kelechi's. Why do you think same Success said Kelechi is the Best footballer he has ever played with?? wink

And wait ooooo.... I thought Success is a waste-man to you naa... why bring him into a KC argument just to water down Kelechi's quality and achievements at City?? undecided *smh*

Official : Samsunspor Snap Up John Chibuike On Two-Year Deal

Turkish First League club Samsunspor have announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder John Chibuike.

The Red Lightning attempted to sign Chibuike in the winter transfer market, only for the deal to fall through at the last minute, before he was acquired by Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv.

The versatile midfielder has penned a contract that will see him remain at Samsunspor for the next two seasons if the parties honour the agreement.

A product of Enugu Rangers, Chibuike started off his professional career in Europe with BK Hacken in 2009 and transferred to Norwegian powerhouse Rosenborg after three seasons in Sweden.

The 28-year-old has also represented AIK Solna and Gaziantepspor.

Arsenal Target Henry Issued UK Visa Ahead Of Trip To England For Transfer Talks

Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru has been issued a visa to the United Kingdom which should pave the way for the striker to travel to England in the coming days to thrash out a deal with interested clubs.

Onyekuru, who celebrated his 20th birthday on June 5, has become a big fish in a small pond at Eupen after finishing the 2016-17 campaign with 24 goals in all competitions, which has put many clubs on alert.

“Henry has been in Paris, he is there with his agents,” a source close to Onyekuru told scorenigeria.com.ng.

“He has been granted his visa to UK and he is now studying all the offers and possibilities with his handlers.

“His first choice is a Premier League club.”

Arsenal, West Ham, Swansea City, Newcastle United and Swansea have been credited with an interest in Onyekuru.
