if you are not too chossy and can do any job you can find in the first 3 month including construction then you have chance of getting a job before the countdown of your visa
put your mind on 90k to100k naira up ward for a start because what matters with tourist visa is the race to get employment before it runs down ...
and lastly it all depends on the favour of God because last month someone shared a testimony here that the day he landed he went for an interview and got employed and some after a month and some after 3 month like kaynine59 who got his job after the expiration of his visa and had to renew..
my brother pray hard and consult your pastor or imam for special prayers because you have different hurdles like....

HURDLES TO CROSS

1.getting the needed money for your travels starting from 800k which is not easy for a hustling nija guy who doesn't have a benefactor.
2.getting a reliable travel agent which is the most important and crucial step in your travel plans because if you fall into the wrong hands it can derail your travel plans or set you back many years because what can you do if your money is tied down with an agent who refuses to render the services he was paid to offer.
3.nija immigration which depends on offering them a little bribe for smooth passage except ones head doesn't want to travel.
4.getting a job before the 3 month visa elapses which i 've explained earlier

fast and pray because the success of your travel plans depends on your luck and destiny....
peace !!!!
My brother left for UAE Nov '16 and secured a 2 year contract same month. AED2,500/month, free accommodation and transport. The company also secured a 2-yr work visa for him, free. I guess he was favoured.

my brother, presently i know at least 4 graduates in my area who look for construction job on daily basis to feed their families and these job involves carrying head pan with mixed cement to storey buildings and are paid #1 500 daily and the job is not even regular because they had to lined up to be selected everyday and are picked if they are lucky .
the construction job in nija too is not a joke but not everybody is cut out for jobs like that
many graduates today hustle in construction for quick money during their undergraduate days except those who has parents, uncles or who to turn to for money...but for aje pako we must survive anyhow..
all am saying is since you can change job after 6 months instead of waiting for 3 month visa to elapse and since the desirable is not available then the available can be manageable for 6 month IF YOU CAN DO IT instead of returning to nija empty handed..

this is just my thought pls..

Good Day House,

I visited Dubai in 2014 and an agent did the Visa for me. Now I want to apply for Visa via Etihad airline and I saw a lot of personal details that they required me to complete.

I know Visa agents are the normal thing with Dubai but I'm worried about what the agent filled in the personal details section and if that was shared with the government of UAE.

Does anyone know if the agents just give details on your international passport or they also fabricate information along with the submission of your application?

Thanks

You are not entirely correct as both have their advantages and it all depends on your employment position.
what position is he going to get as a Nigerian with no GCC experience? and which of them would be easier to land a job, let the truth be told.

My dear, construction job in Dubai is on a whole different level. It is modern day slavery. The sun in this part of the world is terrible coupled with poor salary, poor living condition, and the rest. More so, don't think changing job in Dubai is a piece of cake. The economy is shrinking and companies are either downsizing or managing to retain their workers.

Again, a majority of companies are looking for individuals with 2 yrs to 5 yrs experience, not 6 months, since they believe that if you can run away from your company after 6 months, you are likely to leave their's same way.

In addition, labor migration in Dubai tends to follow a trend. If you have experience in construction, you are likely to be considered for jobs requiring such gulf experience, except you have a highly sort after skill and grace of God.

All the best!

PS: UAE makes more sense than Qatar when it comes to O $ G jobs. Don't be deceived with Qatar being the richest. Arab money no dey there again. Lol.

My reply will be quoted below

Bro, I was responding to the above quoted part of your earlier post.

Now to clarify my point, from my little experience here, I have seen people who moved in either direction. The people who moved to UAE mentioned the poor social life in Qatar, and longer shift schedule (although this was before the changes in the oilfield here), better job security amongst other things.

The people who moved from here to Qatar mentioned better salary, flight ticket even for junior staff which is not obtainable in most companies here amongst other things.

Now, these people who I have met are mostly junior staff as a result of these, I can't say much about the senior position in Qatar.

Let me talk briefly about the changes here. Just last year we had lots of laid off because of the global crude oil price and the Emiratization program which saw thousands of locals taking up job positions in the various company under the ADNOC group.(This group controls most of the oil companies because they are its subsidiary)

While these were going on the work conditions changed a lot. In my company the Roustabouts onshore work for 56 days and go for 28 days field break while their counterparts offshore work for 28 days and have 28 days field break. Every other position had 28 days work and 28 days field break which was about the best in the region.

After the changes last year, from Floorman position up to Derick man and even Assistant Electricians/Mechanics now work for 42 days and have 21 days break which is 2 weeks more work and 1 week less break. All these were without any significant changes in the salary; most of the bonus were also stopped or removed completely (although they are now starting again). This makes the shift schedule worse than some of the other companies before.

Here the only people that get flight tickets are from Derick men upwards and the job security is not as it's used to be. We are hearing rumours that they want to unite the whole ADNOC group of companies soon and we also heard that all junior staff would be made contract staff in no distant time. Now, these are all speculations but most of the changes that happened here started this way. In the last one year about 7 people have resigned from my rig alone and we are having lots of shortages.

Let me briefly talk about the service companies as well. During these changes, lots of contracts were reviewed downwards and it was a very serious competition for the service companies too. NPS and Emjel took lots of cementing job from Baker Hughes. Franks International in conjunction with Al Mansoori took lots of casing and completion job from Al Masaood and Al Ghathi. Baker Hughes took many Centrifuge and oil based job from Skomi and the trend continued like that.

How were these people able to make all these downward negotiations work? It was through using contract staff and cutting down some services. The Directional Driller who worked in the last well that we did work over/drilling is a Nigerian and during one of our discussions in the tea room he was complaining about the negative effects of these contract staff. The guys at the Centrifuge now takes about 49 USD per day salary and work longer hitch. He also sited the case of a Nigerian Directional Driller who was a consultant that used to earn about 1,000USD per day back then but now receiving less than 200USD per day when on the field because he was recruited as a contract staff.

Some of my Fishing Engineer friends at Schlumberger were laid off, recruited again as contract staff and were lucky not long ago to be absorbed back to Schlumberger.

About were to get job easily, it depends on ones luck, contact person, experience and timing. Many people have searched for job here with their many years of experience and couldn't secure one wheras some got elsewhere even in Iran.

You would agree with me that the oilfield settings is somehow different from the other industries. Most, if not all of the senior staffs I know were recruited/head hunted from outside UAE and I have seen Baker Hughes bring in their staff from other countries including Nigeria to fill some vacancies here some will go back and some won't.

I have also seen job adverts that give preference to those who have worked with them in the past in another country instead of just having GCC experience. An example of such company is Halliburton, others might operate this policy underground without spelling it out.

There are a lot of things that I would have talked about but I can't do so because of privacy policy and safety concern.

I hope you understand my point, I don't mean to discredit your opinion as I was rather presenting another perspective. You are among some of the people I admire a lot on this thread and look forward to meeting someday.

My blood was taken and the most scariest moment of my life was upon me,30 minutes felt like an hour, finally I was called into one office like that,at that moment I died ,the doctor started his plenty talk told him am not interested in petty advice I just need my result.....

Dunno if u guys remember the feeling we get when trying to check our first waec result ,this was worst as I open the envelope I didn't even read just went straight to the result section......
