it not a letter but a form to be downloaded online called Form DS-3053 ,print and fill by your husband then notarized by a lawyer and then send to you by courier with photocopy of his travel passport ,the completed ds3053 filled by your husband must be notarized before a Notary Public, lawyer or Solicitor. The notary or solicitor must place his/her official seal upon the document and the notarization must be no more than 3 months old. The absent parent must also provide an original or clear photocopy of the government-issued photo I.D.(such as their foreign passport, driving license or military I.D) which they presented when notarizing Form DS-3053.

No only the forms. Except you are talking about Nigerian passport then it is a written one.

Hello All,

Thanks for the information and support. My journey ends here. Just some tips based on my wife second US birthing experience
1. You need two valid means of identifications(preferably driver's licence & international passport) to process and collect US docs(Birth certificate,US Passport). My wife licence expired before she traveled and she forgot this requirement so it was not as straightforward as her first experience. Alternatively, you can use work ID or any US resident to identify you.

2. Visa on Arrival is way cheaper and hassle free than it is made to look(the only cheaper option on the long run is if you are in atlanta and go for the baby nigerian passport). Just send a mail to oa@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng requesting for one using the format shared previously on the forum and you would be responded to early enough. in my case,I got a response the same day and please do it yourself and dont pay any processing money. You only need to pay the actual application fee to immigration which can be made on arrival($180 using card and $190 using cash though. Surprisingly,my wife mentioned they did not even look at any letter at Lagos Airport to give our baby the visa. Note that houston immigration requested to sight the actual email so you may want to keep your phone and email handy to avoid complications

Am always available on PM to assist with any further information.Good luck to all expecting mums and Dads. God Bless

Welcome back. Did you say you didnt pay either $190 or $200 upon arrival to Nigeria? It was free?

Sorry, I modified my post. What I meant is no processing fee is required as people have paid up to 30k for this when they could do it themselves. I would have fallen prey also if not for info shared abt this

From what people have shared on this forum, you don't need a prior appointment to notarise a document. You can just walk in. You can search for people's experience on this, here.

DHL is as reliable as can be. Sent a document to UK recently and it was received in less than 2 days. You'll get a tracking number and can monitor progress till delivery.
