Hi PrinceAdeAde

DW is going to ATL. You said a friend got the Nigerian passport in 3 days at $165. Was her hubby with her or she had to use a letter of consent? If she did, can you please help me ask her how she went about the letter and if she had it notarized? Thank you.

PrinceAdeAde:

I want to assume it is issued at any international airport but again this is naija so it may just be helpful to check

Thank you Reniduke. Since hubby was not there, did they ask for any consent letter by the hubby from you? Did you go with any documentation? If you submitted any letter, is it possible to show me what it looks like? Thanks a lot.

LONG POST ALERT

Hello guys great work here time to share my experience.

left 9ja through abv to Fra on the 3rd of July with lufthansa airline the expression with them was great.

got to fra spent like 4hrs 30mins there before we took the next flight (thats from frankfurt to Dallas dfw) the flight was looooooooonng mehn but twas great the food the drinks asin twas kiss. (by the way frankfurt airport is REALLY BIIIGGG)

so finally we landed dfw at exactly 2.05pm dallas time
our flight was the only one that landed at that time
so went straight to scan my pp for self service koisk and my slip came out with circle on it.

went to show it to the guy checking it and he said I'm free to go collect my bags. I was quite suprise cause twas just going smoothly.

so I finally collected my bags o and went straight to MEET C.B.P officer it got to my turn and I didn't spendo up to 50sec with him. here is it

C.B.P.what are you here for
ME.for vacation and to have my baby

C.B.P did you bring food stuff
ME.yes and started naming them cause I declared what I brought and he just said don't bother after naming the 3rd item

C.B.P. what my final destination
ME.told him elpaso

and he stamped my pp till Jan 2018 with b2 circled on it.

and that was it off I went to take my connecting flight to my final destination with south West air line.

my experience at dfw was really nice and fast I thank everyone for sharing thier experience cause nothing was asked or checked.

so that's my own personal first hand experience right there.

special thanks to @justwise for this thread it really helped me from doctor to visa application to flight to Dallas etc.

I really do appreciate you all kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss and to my darling @cuteaidomo you da rmvp.

Hello All,

Thanks for the information and support. My journey ends here. Just some tips based on my wife second US birthing experience
1. You need two valid means of identifications(preferably driver's licence & international passport) to process and collect US docs(Birth certificate,US Passport). My wife licence expired before she traveled and she forgot this requirement so it was not as straightforward as her first experience. Alternatively, you can use work ID or any US resident to identify you.

2. Visa on Arrival is way cheaper and hassle free than it is made to look(the only cheaper option on the long run is if you are in atlanta and go for the baby nigerian passport). Just send a mail to oa@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng requesting for one using the format shared previously on the forum and you would be responded to early enough. in my case,I got a response the same day and please do it yourself and dont pay any processing money. You only need to pay the actual application fee to immigration which can be made on arrival($180 using card and $190 using cash though. Surprisingly,my wife mentioned they did not even look at any letter at Lagos Airport to give our baby the visa. Note that houston immigration requested to sight the actual email so you may want to keep your phone and email handy to avoid complications

Am always available on PM to assist with any further information.Good luck to all expecting mums and Dads. God Bless

For number 1. You got it slightly wrong. Your US visa affixed to your passport suffices as a second means of Id. The county person wanted to sell me the sour grapes of getting a second means of id till I showed him his own requirement list where a valid us visa suffices. So that person just stressed your wifey for nothing. Lolz

Modified: in fact only 1 means of id suffices in the instances below and foreign passport is allowed as the only means! Lolz;

Hello Everyone,

i'm a first timer on Nairaland. I must say a whole lot of support in here. Well done guys.

We want to have our first baby in the US. Have gone through the thread and know that i'm to:

Apply for a B1/B2 so reason can be Tourism and also to give birth.

However I need your advice on the following.

1. Affordable Hospitals in Maryland (that's where i can be accommodated). Have heard Maryland is expensive but i'm sure someone here would have eventually gotten a good deal. Please help with any link or direct contact to the hospital/doctor. i have googled and filled in contact forms but no revert. i have called but they keep directing me to their insurance company so please i'm crying for help.

2. Is or Was there anyone who planned to stay in Maryland however give birth in another state that's more affordable and not too far from Maryland. When did you leave Maryland for the place and when were you fit to travel back to Maryland after delivery. Also hospital details (especially cost) and contact to Doctor

3. Any other information would be helpful.

Thanks!

Compared to other states, Maryland IS expensive! You can get $5k in some states but need much more in MD. Use the search button and load your phone. You might be the pioneer, MD people are waiting for

Maryland is EXPENSIVE!!!! ... It's been said over &over & over & over again... With paying for accommodation & logistics in a place like Texas, you go still holl some change after every every...

This thread has been up and running for a couple of years now & in all that time, not one person... Not a SINGLE soul had been able to get anything remotely close to what the average bill people end up with in other states....

Don't allow free accommodation get you making eventual costly decisions...

Cast your net far, there are cool options to settle for....

So just as I promised to share my total bill and experience for my first Missionary Journey:

Hospital Bill - 3k for noncomplicated vaginal delivery (it has to be paid before discharge from the hospital to qualify for the discount package)

Dr fee - 1k for vaginal delivery (payment is due at initial doctors appointment)

Lab test - 158

Ultra scan - 120

Paediatrician - 300

Well Child Check - 95 (this was done at JPS hospital fort Worth)

LO birth cert. - 23 each (collected two copies)

American Passport - 165 (I got it by mail exactly 13days after applying)

I got my zero balance from the hospital by mail 3 weeks after discharge. I left US with LO on the 30th of March, got to Qatar and was hoping to get a transit visa to qualify for an hotel in Doha but sadly our Visa wasn't granted by the immigration, we had to stay at the airport for a 12hrs layover. Thank God it's finally over for now, I will hang my coat and hibernate till further notice. Thanks to everyone who has shared their experiences, bills and answered both my public and direct questions, God bless you all especially @chloe7 @temmyo ...@dyout Congratulations and thank you so so much for the assistance with LO letter of Consent and it was nice to meet your Madam a fellow Nairalander in diaspora.
