Here is the transcript of my Visa Interview I did today:

German interview (FHWS 2017)

I got to the Embassy at about 6.03AM, even though my appointment was slated for 10AM. Oga Paulinus gave us special attention by walking us through on the proper form of arrangement of our docs, he did this taking three people at a time. After scaling through, we were ushered into the main building where we sat down and waited for the VO to get prepared.

Venue – Main building for long term Visa Cubicle 3
Interview Format – I just dey shout through the glass, she no even tell me to pick up the phone during the interview. She go sit down, na you go stand (I nearly faint cos all my waist wan cut cos of the long standing, the woman no even pity me or even tell me sorry!)
Cubicle 3 light finally goes ON, It felt like I was been called to appear before the Judgement seat of Christ Jesus. Na so I pick myself up, dust my yansh, pack my docs and took a deep glance at other applicants that were seated, before heading to the main entrance.

Immediately I got in, I was given given another format for arranging my Doc (this was written on a piece of paper by the VO). While I sorted my Doc, she collected my admission letter and passport, then keyed in the details into her computer.
Then collected my Visa Applicant form and passport, did my Biometrics, gave me the print out result to sign confirming that my details were correctly typed by her, which I did.
Then she returned my form.
While She was doing this I asked regarding using Block account for Interview and then opting for Sponsorship Letter after you interview, She turned over to her colleague in the other cubicle (the German white Lady) and asked her the same question as though to confirm before giving me an answer, the white woman affirmed that it is allowed.

P.S: Later while she was keying in my details, she begin asking me those Visa Interview-like questions, For my mind I be like shey dis woman done start interview already without telling me. As I spy her monitor, I noticed she was no longer inputting my details but was now keying in my response in German, Na so I compose shaperly.

The Questions I can remember are thus written below:

1- Do you speak German?

2- Name of school and intended course of study?

3- Previous educational background?
4- Why won’t you be completing your studies in Nigeria (am currently studying Mechatronics in Nigeria)
5- How many semesters is your intended course and explain the curriculum?
6.How did you get to know about Germany?
7.What is Mechatronics?
8.What is control systems?
9- Why Germany, Why not UK,Canada or even continue here in Nigeria?
10- What is your aim after completing your study?
11- Do you have any relative in Germany?
12-Do you have any relative in the EU, where?
13-Where does your Uncle work and how much does He earn?
14-Explain your relationship with this Uncle of yours, like how is He an Uncle to you?
15-Means of sponsorship?
16-Tell me what you know about Germany?
17-What is the Population?
18-How many countries borders Germany?
19.Where is your school Located?
20.Apart from Germany, which other country Speaks German?
21.Name the country that is a Schengen Country but not a member of the EU?
22-What's the date of German re-unification?
23-What do you know about your school city?
24-Which city is the capital of your intended state?
25-Have you paid your semester fee?
26-What steps have you taken towards preparing for your studies?
27-How about your accommodation, what type do you intend on renting?

It is possible, but it involves two ways. If you check number "2" and "8" on the visa application form, you will understand that it is officially very possible, though might not be too smooth but it is doable. Additionally, it involves money. The money needed for you and your spouse will be more than the one needed for only you. Also, you can enter Germany, while your wife will apply for family reunion afterwards. This will also cost money too but might be easier somehow. Finally, if you really want to do this, ask your wife to start learning German right away, for this is one of the keys to the successful application. Shalom

@un8stable, sorry if i misplaced the moniker. If you truly understood what i wrote, then you have no cause to make hasty conclusions. I adviced bettygirl to be mindful with her use of english for official purposes which i clearly listed here ie statement of purpose, letter of motivation, official mails to the school and not for unofficial purposes which you stated here. Pls Learn to read between the lines to avoid making hasty conclusions thereby shooting yourself at the leg, and moreover try to separate your emotions from critical reasoning. All the very best.

i already sent a mail to their email and they gave me a vague reply, saying i should contact the institute. i don't really understand any of these. i'm seeking someone with experience on Leipzig university. i want to know how the aptitude test is done. stop telling me to go contact the program coordinator, because i tried all that, they always give me vague answers, telling me to contact the institute. i sent series of mail but yet no response so far. I'm seeking for someone who has applied into this Liepzig University and knows the rightful procedures i should take and whether or not, i will write the aptitude test or not and also how the aptitude test is done. i also want to ask, will i take letter of attestation from my university? but no letter of attestation i saw in the application requirements, but i saw letter of attestation in the university portal page. do i also need letter of attestation?

Bro...You have to figure out what to answer for number 15. It's a personal question because whatever you say, you must know how to back it up since they might input virtually every response of yours into their system. For example, during my interview, I told them (the VO) my sponsor owns a company and I immediately showed the VO an evidence to back that up in order to avoid further interrogations on the subject. These VOs like it when you have a proof of whatever you say as it makes the processing faster. I hope this helps.

@bettygirl, i have checked the leipzig university webpage for the course you stated. Several institute with different specialization. You just have to send a mail to the institute of your choice and patiently wait for their response.

I will also like you to check up other schools, cos it won't be wise for you to put your whole focus on just this very one.

All the very best

Hello house
Please my interview is on 24th of August but i want to ask some question.
1) i want to use my waec certificate as a biographical old document since it is more than five years and there are some of my details on it. Is this allowed?
2) has anyone used paypal in funding his account coz i want to use it and send some money and some one will help me pay in to my account. I think is cheaper that way.

If you are based in Nigeria, Sorry 2 be the one to break this to you this early morning.

No chances of meeting up since the Embassy is no more granting appointment dates. So just Enroll yourself & Defer your Admission.

But if you are in a foreign land, try to reach out to the German Embassy over there to book an appointment for Student VISA.

For Finitiba. Start first and when you're stucked, come back here to ask. Am sure we will be here to help u out.

BlessUp.

I still have Egypt visa, I saw this post and just checked with the german embassy in Egypt whether they still give appointments, they do but I'm not sure whether Nigerians can apply from there or not.

Hello house, first I want to say a big thank you to everyone in this forum for helping me prepare and plan for my interview.
Interview was held on the 16/08/2017 7:00 hours.

A day before the Interview:

I arrived a day ahead of the interview since I’m not based in Lagos. I then went straight to the German consulate to find my way around and make inquiries. I passed the hustlers on my way within the premises, who were asking if I had taken passport photos, bought my courier envelope etc. I asked them which way to go towards the German consulate and they pointed to the direction. The security guys at the gate were nice with information regarding passport, courier envelope and every other thing “trust naija na” they wanted me to give them money for telling me the things I need to know and do, so I gave them some change. I left and went to take my passport photos according to specification (N1000 for 6 copies) after negotiation: I was initially told N2500, I got a courier envelope for free from a friend that works with DHL in the Lagos office and self addressed it.

Interview Day:

I arrived at the embassy at 6:15 my interview was for 7:00 of course; there were a couple of persons for short term visas. At 6:30 a security guy addressed us with specific instructions for arranging our documents for those on long term and short stay visas respectively. I joined the queue with 2 guys ahead of me for the same student visa. A night before I had arranged my documents with office clips: originals in one file and 2 sets of photocopies of all my relevant documents (if you are married include marriage cert. if you have kids do the same) I think it adds to your documentation. I sighted the popular Mr. Paul a fair middle aged man of Igbo decent I assume and the impression I have of him now is quite different from what I read here. He’s passionate about his job and if you listen attentively you won’t have to ask him dumb questions. He doesn’t like to repeat himself either. He’s just there! On my way home after my interview; I thanked him and commended him for a job well done. He had made us re-arrange the documents before we went into the building. He would mention a document and you would arrange them in the order accordingly: originals, 2 sets of photocopies.

Interview transcript.

11:30 am, light blinks and it’s my turn. I was signaled to go in by the security guy.
Me: Good Morning Ma with a smile (middle aged lady, calm, endearing and happy)
VO: Good Morning with a smile, you’re going to do your Masters right?
Me: Yes
VO: Your appointment letter and passport please.
Me: Gave her
VO: May I have your documents please, originals and two sets of photocopies
Me: Gave them
VO: She flipped through my photocopies and counted them, did the same for the other photocopy and my originals (I made colored photocopies).
VO: She asked me to sign my motivation letter and application forms.
Me: I did.
VO: May I have your Visa fee? S12, 000, She laughed and we started laughing, afterwards she asked for the N21500.
Me: Paid her, she counted it and issued me the invoice.
VO: She did my Bio metrics, gave me the print-out to sign confirming that my details were correctly entered, which I signed.
VO: May I have your courier envelope?
Me: Gave her.
VO: She gave me a questionnaire and blank sheets of paper to write my questions.

The questions in the questionnaire.
Q1. What course?
Q2. Why do you want to study this course?
Q3. Course structure and curriculum (no of semesters, industry seminar, and internship) provide all the details.
Q4. Why Germany?
Q5. What do you know about Germany?
Q6. Why not UK, US or Canada?
Q7. What was your bachelor thesis?
Q8. What do you plan to do after study?
Stay in Germany?
Return to Nigeria?

These are the questions I can remember from the few questions on the single A4 paper.

Me: After answering the questions she took the answer sheets and typed them into her computer.
VO: Please pick up the handset.
Me: Ok
VO: I’ll have to ask you a few more questions. Then, she started asking me the same questions on the questionnaire, I repeated exactly what I had written, she also asked a couple of other questions that were not there.
Me; Ok
VO: Who applied for you?
Me: I did myself.
VO: Where do you work?
Me: Told her
VO: How much do you earn?
Me: Told her, she typed it in
VO: Have you applied for a shengen visa before?
Me: Yes, this one. She laughed, I laughed and she said no I mean previously. I said no
VO: Do you have any siblings in Europe?
Me: I said yes
VO: What’s their name and where do they work?
Me: Told her.
Alright, we’ll get back to you via e-mail.
N/B: I stood throughout the interview.

End.

I'm trying to complete my funding now before i get that funding mail.
I had prepared for an oral interview but God gave me a written one. I wasn’t asked if I have funded or not, I wasn’t given any form to sign that my documents will be processed after I have funded.
I'm praying now for a favorable outcome.
