I read your comment and i cant help but marvel at the level of hypocrisy you displayed there. Lets go back to history:
1.The City of Jerusalem held a Holy significance to the Christian religion. Although three religions had laid claim to the city of Jerusalem, the Turks decided that the other groups should not embark on a pilgrimage to the holy land although their predecessors had accommodated the other religions with a condition of payment of extra taxs.
It was this act that prompted the emperor to seek the help of the pope who would send troops to oust the turks moslems.
2.Islam had conquered Spain in addition to North Africa and the Middle East. When the Moors attempted to extend their empire into Europe, they were met at Tours by Charles Martel and were soundly defeated. From that point forward, Islam was pushed out of Spain.

A closer look at the two events reveals that it was the inordinate desire of the moslem world to spread to every part of Europe that caused christendom to fight back.
