I think he is right apart from the part where he said that 2face is overrated. Truth is, if we're ranking Nigerian musicians not based on their talent or legendary status but purely based on success of their body of work then Psquare will take the number one spot. Yes. 2Face is the crowned legend of Nigerian contemporary music because he was there before a lot of these guys and paves the way for them but he probably will be ranked third behind Psquare and D'Banj.

just look at all the crappy songs..lol

songs without meaning

songs way the artist no even know the lyrics

naija can swallow garbage

by the way views dont mean everyone loves the song

Bro u dey vex? Who lyrics help? What's the point of good lyrics if it can't put food on the table? It's everywhere and not just a naija thing. Look at the screenshot below, that is from the song Gangnam style by Psy. And yes the numbers are real. How many views again? 2.9 BILLION views on YouTube... Do u know how much that would make? That is a song nobody even understands what the artist is saying not to talk of lyrics.

And Luis fonsi's Despacito is the most watched video ever on YouTube with 3.9 BILLION views. Now tell me u understand what he's saying talk less of lyrics. So brother lyrics doesn't mean SHIIT.

With which songs from the two you mentioned. Which of their song can claim the kinda popularity and message African queen passed across the whole?
I have watched Tubaba times without number. He is not in their league. I watched Dbanj performed on Sunday at Eko hotel, he can't never match Tubaba.

Legendary Tubaba doesn't just sIng meaningless songs all the times. He does once in a while but majority of his songs pass messages across to the listeners. I can't remember any meaningful from P-square. Maybe one or two from Dbanj.

Nigerians enjoy mediocrity. They like noise too. That's why WO by Olamide is a hit to majority but doesn't make any sense to me. That's why we have a 74 years old man as a President.

Songs like African queen, One love, Appreciate, Ocho, Thank you Lord, Only me etc could only be sang by Tubaba and no other.

Wizkid's "Come Closer" is relatively the most viewed, when you assess it viz the length of time it's been published - circa 2 months.

You obviously didn't read my post. I specifically talked about popular song snd not necessary one with message. Nobody is dragging that 2face's songs probably have more message than his contemporaries. But those songs are not necessarily more popular.

You must think that's how it works. Songs like that, after the initial gra gra, will just pause there.

Psquare Leading the chart. Another reason they need to reconsider this whole separation thing.

I mean their enemies and rivals are happy as hell though.

They revolutionise music videos in nigeria music industry with that 'do me' vid.

Well unfortunately that number is very very minute and non significant. This is why artists that care too much about lyrics don't make enough money to even sustain their lives like artists that don't care about lyrics and yet they make more than enough to spend on women and luxury. Where Dem blackface, modenine, etc Dem dey? Wizkid just made history as the African artist with the biggest concert... Does he care about lyrics? In this entertainment business if u don't move with the flow u get left behind. Lyrics don't mean shiit.

Only 3 things mater.

1. Good rhythm
2. Good beat
3. Badass video.

Trust me Gangnam style doesn't have good lyrics. That song was made in Korea, so how many people actually speak Korea? What is the population of Korea? People allover the world watched and love the song while more than 90% don't understand what he was saying. So how do u understand the lyrics of the song u don't understand. More than 2 5 billion views out of the 3 billion are from people that don't understand what he was saying.
