Antonio Conte says everyone must pull together during a difficult period if we are to have a successful season The Blues have a chance to respond to the loss at Crystal Palace, and the one against Manchester City before the international break, when Roma visit west London on Wednesday evening. Conte believes his squad have what it takes to get back on the right path, and quickly. ‘We have to find the strength to overcome this moment,’ the boss said. ‘I know my squad and my players very well. I have players with great will to work and to fight. ‘We must be unhappy after a defeat, above all if the defeat is not one but two in a row. This is not a positive moment for many reasons. We are playing without important players and every game we are having a new injury, but I trust all my players and I try to give everyone the opportunity to take their chance.’ Conte compared the current campaign to last one, and spoke about laying strong foundations. ‘Every season is different. Last season we didn’t play in the Champions League or Europa League. This season we are facing four competitions. We are having a few problems to do this because when you have three or four injuries you are in trouble. ‘This season we have to try to build something important for the future, to give possibilities to the new players to get more experience in this league, and to give opportunities to the young players to show they deserve to stay and play for Chelsea. We must have patience this season. It won’t be easy.’ 1 Like |

Take a closer look at our next Champions League opponents, as we welcome Roma to Stamford Bridge... MANAGER Eusebio Di Francesco. The Italian has held the top job at Roma since June, after Luciano Spalletti departed for Inter. Since then the former Sassuolo coach has made a fine start to life in the Italian capital, leading his side to fifth in the Serie A table following five victories and with the added bonus of having a game in hand. The former Italy midfielder cut his teeth coaching with Pescaro and Lecce before moving onto Sassuolo and then Roma. He led Sassuolo to the Serie B title in 2013. KEY PLAYER Radja Nainggolan. The 29 year-old midfielder, who is an international teammate of Chelsea trio Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Michy Batshuayi, is a consistent performer for Roma and is at the heart of many of their attacks. Has previously turned out for Italian sides Cagliari and Piacenza, before moving to Stadio Olympico in 2014, on an initial loan deal before making that move permanent soon after. Has made over 100 appearances in a Roma shirt and is a regular in Roberto Martinez’s Belgium national side too. RECENT FORM Roma have made a solid start to the season, winning five Serie A games and taking four points out of six from their two Champions League fixtures. They did slip to a narrow home defeat against league leaders Napoli at the weekend though, with Lorenzo Insigne netting the only goal of the game for the visitors. Di Francesco’s side are yet to suffer defeat on the road this campaign though, as they prepare for their first visit to Stamford Bridge since 2008. ONE TO WATCH Edin Dzeko. The former Manchester City striker is enjoying a new lease of life with Roma, after making his loan move from City permanent. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has netted seven goals in as many Serie A appearances this season, whilst also scoring twice in the Champions League. A focal point of the Roma attack, he will be a player we have to keep a close eye on at Stamford Bridge. WORN BOTH BADGES Ashley Cole. Our former left-back spent a brief period at the Stadio Olympico after departing us in 2014, signing a two-year deal in the Italian capital. The move didn’t prove as fruitful as the former England international would have hoped, however, as he departed the club a year before his contract was due to expire and moved on to LA Galaxy in the MLS, where he remains today. Cole, in total, made 11 appearances in a Roma shirt. |

PDPGuy: I think Leicester were playing well but the results were not just forthcoming. I also think the sack came a bit early however when you look at how quick palace got rid of their Dutch coach, I am really not surprised he got sacked. It is Everton not sacking koeman yet that I am surprised about. |
