Stop lying. Dzeko wanted playing time that was why he himself gave reasons. grin

This is not hear say. grin

Now, where in your article it quoted that Pellegrini told Dzeko to leave? grin

Despite scoring 72 goals in 187 appearances for City, the Bosnian forward has been told he can leave the Etihad Stadium after falling out of favour under Pellegrini, who is ready to operate with Raheem Sterling and Nigerian teenager Kelechi Iheanacho as cover for Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony this season.

Manuel Pellegrini continues summer clear-out by sanctioning Bosnian striker's transfer from the Etihad to Rome

Manuel Pellegrini has continued his summer clear-out at Manchester City by sanctioning the £14m sale of Edin Dzeko to AS Roma.

Dzeko's departure will give Nigerian teenager Kelechi Iheanacho more opportunities

Pellegrini told Dzeko that he can leave. Pellegrini had faith that Iheanacho was ready to fill the void. Not at all the same case with Solanke.

This presents the other forwards in the squad with an opportunity. Solanke, Divock Origi and Danny Ings are all vying for that spot but there will be no definitive winner, at least not anytime soon.

Ostersunds FK hero Alhaji Gero recalls tough beginning in Nigeria, personal tragedy

By admin -
October 20, 2017, 11:25 am

Alhaji Gero was again among the goals as his Swedish club Ostersunds FK stayed top of the Europa League group after a 2-2 draw with Athletic Bilbao of Spain last night.

But it was not all good and rosy for the big Nigeria striker, who has recounted a tough beginning in Kano and how he could not afford to keep his sick younger brother alive.

Here is his story –

Alhaji Gero’s football career began in the streets of Kano in Nigeria.

The clubs in the city were constantly looking for talent in the streets. The fast and big boy Alhaji Gero was one who stood out and one day accompanied a club representative to show up in a team.

“It was put together with the children they thought would be good. The neighborhoods met each other and when you turned out to be good at these matches you could be contacted by a bigger club who wanted to take you further. I was 11 years old when I came to a club who were keen to sign me, says Gero.

But it turned out there was a problem.

“Yes, we had to play with football boots. It was difficult initially to play soccer with shoes. It was much more beautiful without them. Our feet were probably hardened from all the games on the streets,” recalls Gero, laughing.

He continued to develop to end up in Nigeria’s U20 team and did well in the World Cup qualifier with four goals. When it was time for the playoff, he became sick and was only in a match from the start.

One day his agent asked him if he would be willing to leave his homeland and try his luck in northern Europe.

“I would get the chance in a Swedish team and the agent thought I would take the chance. I myself did not know much about Sweden, but he described it as a nice country with nice people and where there are not racists,” said Alhaji Gero.

At the age of 19 he came to Växjö for games in Öster. He came to the team at the end of the All-Sweden season and then the team was in the bottom of the series and eventually were relegated.

The race then continued in the Superettan straight down into Division 1.

The contract was 3.5 years, but Gero had the right to leave if the team were relegated. Gero went on to Denmark with Viborg.

There he did not feel comfortable and he did not have much playing time.

Alhaji Gero – A new life in Sweden after a tough start in Kano, Nigeria

When Östersund called on Gero, it was quite easy to decide.

“When my agent said that Östersund were interested in me, I was happy. I had thought about ÖFK since I faced them with Öster. They play the most enjoyable football in Sweden and I would love to be part of the team. The move was simple and after the first conversation with (coach) Graham Potter, I began to long for Östersund,” says Alhaji Gero.

Now after a season in Jämtland, Gero has not regretted a single second.

“Every morning when I wake up, I pray and thank God for giving me this opportunity to play football at this level. I’m in fantastic company with amazing people around me. Everyone supports each other and we hug and joke,” says Gero, laughing.

However, he still has a little problem when the weather gets a little colder.

“Yes, I really do not like the chill, so it can be a bit tough. I have been offered to go fishing in the ice. But that sounds cold and I do not know if I would dare,” he says, laughing.

For Gero, the family means a lot and he sends home money every month.

“Yes, they need the money more than I do. Here in Sweden there is no struggle to get food. Here I can eat beef, chicken or what I feel anytime. That’s not so back home in Nigeria. I also send money to friends, but also to the hospital in the area where I come from,” he revealed.

It’s important to send money to the hospital for Alhaji Gero after what happened to his little brother Bello, who suffered from heart problems and had difficulty breathing.

“He had to get oxygen very often to breathe properly. But oxygen costs money and my family did not have much money, “said Alhaji Gero.

His eyes are filled with tears and it becomes more difficult to talk. But he does not want to stop this interview. He wants to talk about his little brother.

“It’s been seven years now. I remember it so well. We were in the hospital with him. But at last we tell the hospital that we do not have money to pay for the oxygen. They sent him home and I remember my mother crying. We tried to come together, but it did not work.”

Alhaji Gero fights against the tears when he talks again.

“I cannot forget how my little brother looked when he did not get enough air. I remember his eyes.”

When Alhaji’s little brother was sick, he was away training.

“I called home and wanted to talk to my brother. But every time I called, my mother said he was sleeping. I asked her to tell him he should call me when he was awake. He never rang. When I got home, I learned that he had died while I was in camp,” he recounted.

“I cry a lot when I think of him. He would have been 15 years old now.”

Alhaji Gero shakes his head.

“If he had been sick a few years later, I could afford to pay for his oxygen so that he could live.

“I think so much about this.”

Heads to roll at Enugu Rangers after probe panel uncovers fraud, transfer rackets

Heads are set to roll at NPFL club Enugu Rangers after the Agu Caleb Agu 13-member probe panel submitted its report to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The committee, Scorenigeria.com.ng understands, made some startling revelations especially in the area of players transfer and sign on fees and strongly recommended for stiff penalties against those found wanting.

Scorenigeria.com.ng further scooped that four out of six accountants who have worked with the Coal City Flying Antelopes since 2009 were indicted just as a former key official of the club was fingered in fraud and converting club property into personal use.

“The worst was that he even sold some cars belonging to the club and only came to the panel to say the vehicles were auctioned”, a government house Enugu official said.

“But when he was asked to produce the letter of authorisation from government to auction the vehicles, he could not.

“One club bus was even recovered from his house by the probe panel”.

While government’s white paper on the report of the panel is still being awaited, it was gathered that the panel was more irked with the way and manner proceeds from players transfer overseas was diverted to personal use.

“There were players whose transfer proceeds never entered into Rangers account. So many things really went wrong and going by the painstaking efforts of the panel and their recommendations, many heads will indeed roll if government acted on the report”, the official added.

Meanwhile, Rangers screening exercise is continuing at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, with one of the transit coaches informing they were only recruiting young players mainly from the Coal City State.

“At the moment, our last season players are not on ground. We are only for some young players, mainly of Enugu origin,” the stop-gap coach told SCORENigeria

“Just a few of them that could be injected into the main Rangers team.”

Rangers woes appears compounded with government’s inability to appoint a substantive general manager for Rangers following the dismissal of Christian Chukwu, with few weeks to the commencement of the 2017/2018 NPFL season which has tentatively been slated for next month.

At the moment, no top player has come around for enlistment into Rangers because there is no key official to hold transfer talks with.

FLASHBACK ON DERIK OSEDE

Derik Osede: From training with Cristiano Ronaldo to relegation at Bolton Wanderers
By Nick Wright
Last Updated: 15/04/16 9:51pm

Bolton defender Derik Osede talks to Sky Sports about swapping the bright lights of Real Madrid for a chaotic season at the Macron Stadium.

This time last year, Derik Osede was rubbing shoulders with Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid's plush Valdebabas training complex. The 23-year-old had spent his entire career rising through the youth ranks of the biggest club in the world, but when his final season in their Castilla 'B' team drew to an end, he knew it was time to leave his comfort zone.

"Real Madrid is the team of my heart and to play there was a dream," he tells Sky Sports. "I had been there for 13 years and everything was perfect, but breaking into the first team is difficult because it's full of the best players in the world. I had to leave the cantera to see real football. When you leave, you realise there's more to life than Real Madrid."

Derik Osede (right) in action for Real Madrid in a pre-season clash with Inter Milan

The Spanish U21 international set his sights on a move to England, and when an offer arrived from Bolton Wanderers in July, he didn't hesitate. "I wanted to come to England and grow as a player," he says. "There was interest from a few teams but obviously Bolton has always been a great club. They were the first ones to say: 'Look, Derik, we want you here.'"

Derik followed in the footsteps of former Madrid players Ivan Campo and Fernando Hierro as he signed a three-year contract at the Macron Stadium, but nothing could have prepared him for the turbulent campaign ahead. To a backdrop of spiralling debts, transfer embargoes and disarray behind the scenes, Bolton have won just four games out of 41 in the Championship.

They have been without a permanent manager since Neil Lennon's departure by mutual consent in the middle of March, and Saturday's 4-1 defeat to Derby County - their ninth in the last 10 games - confirmed their relegation to League One.

Derik has made 18 Championship appearances for Bolton this season

"When I arrived I had no idea it was going to be like this," says Derik. "After some time we knew it was going to be difficult to stay in the division but we always hoped we could start winning games and get out of it. We are all very sad. It has been a complicated year for Bolton as a team and as a club, and now it's the fans who are paying for it.

"Obviously the players are partly to blame but it's a mixture of everything. Maybe if the previous owners and the people who were running the club had a clearer idea on things it would have been better, but there was no organisation. That's the word that was missing. Obviously Madrid is the best club in the world, but I felt like everything there was done with organisation."

For Derik, adapting to Championship football has been another challenge. "The first year in England is… complicado," he says. "In Castilla we were used to always having the ball but here it's different. It's much faster and a lot more physical. There is less control of the ball. There are lots of attacks and counter-attacks. The style is more direct."

Derik impressed as a tenacious, ball-playing centre-back in a 2-1 win over Wolves on his debut in September, but he was sent off in a 4-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town a few days later and he dropped out of the team altogether between November and February.

"Until two months ago I wasn't playing, but I'm an optimistic person and I'm very hard-working," he says. "I knew I was going to end up playing, so I worked, and worked, and worked, and now I'm back in the team. It hasn't been easy."

Osede applauds Bolton's travelling fans after a 1-0 defeat to Birmingham

Derik has slotted in at left-back, right-back and defensive midfield since his return to the side, and his improved form has been one of few bright spots for Bolton in recent months. The blood and thunder of the Championship is a world away from Valdebabas and Real Madrid, but Derik has fallen in love with English football and has no regrets about the move.

"At Castilla we had our stadium and people came to support us but at most there were three or four thousand people," he says. "At Bolton we can get 20,000, and at Derby County last week there were 30,000. The atmosphere here is very good and the stadiums are full. Our fans are always supporting us - even on long away trips. I really like that."

"I would happily finish my career in England because I like this style of football. I like the rhythm of life and I like the atmosphere at the stadiums." -- Derik Osede

So will he stay and play for Bolton in League One? "To tell you the truth I have no idea," he says. "I haven't spoken to the club yet. It's still too early to talk about those things. We have to see what's going to happen next year and what the plans are, but I still have a contract here for two more years and I am still a Bolton player."

What is certain is that Derik is enjoying life on and off the pitch in his new surroundings. "I have matured as a player and a person and I am very happy here," he says. "I would happily finish my career in England because I like this style of football. I like the rhythm of life and I like the atmosphere at the stadiums."

Derik's future will become clearer at the end of the season, but before that there are five Championship games left to navigate - including Saturday's reunion with Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka at the Macron Stadium.

Osede (right) featured prominently for Spain as they won the European U19 Championship in 2012

"Six or seven years ago I played under Aitor when he was the manager of Spain U16s and U17s," says Derik. "The following year he became Jose Mourinho's assistant at Real Madrid, so I knew him from training there, too. He's a good manager and a good person. It's great to see him doing so well."

Derik could be excused for envying his former manager's position at the other end of the Championship table, but his experiences in England have taught him self-pity gets you nowhere. "If you work hard, the future will always bring you something positive," he says defiantly. "I always think like that. I'm an optimistic person."

Musa Targets 1st EPL Start For Leicester Since February Vs Swansea; Success Sweats To Make Watford Squad Vs Chelsea

By Johnny Edward: Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa hopes to make his first English Premier League (EPL) start for Leicester City under new caretaker manager Michael Appleton when they travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City on Saturday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Musa found playing time hard to get under sacked manager Craig Shakespeare with his only appearance for the 2015/16 EPL champions this season coming in the Carabao Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday in which he scored.

The 24 year old is yet to make Leicester City matchday
squad in the EPL this season and he last made the starting lineup in February when The Foxes lost 3-0 to Manchester United at the King Power Stadium.

Musa who joined Leicester City last season has scored five goals in 33 games in all competitions. His compatriots, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, are also expected to feature for Leicester

Also at Stamford Bridge, it remains to be seen if Isaac Success will make an appearance for Watford when they face Chelsea on Saturday.

Success last started a game for Watford in their 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in April last season. he scored only one goal in 20 games in all competitions.

So far this season, Success made one substitute appearance coming on for Nordin Amrabat at half time in Watford 3-2 loss to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup.

In Germany, Leon Balogun who last featured for FSV Mainz a month ago will be eager to make his fourth appearance in the Bundesliga. Mainz are currently 10th in the log with ten points from eight games.

Rohr: We’ll Test New Players Against Algeria, Play Friendlies Against European Opposition

 1 October 20, 2017 10:50 am

By Kayode Ogundare:

Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has revealed his plans to use the dead-rubber 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria on November 10 to test some other players who were overlooked during the previoous games.

This, according to him, is to give the coaching staff a larger pool of players to choose from when preparations for the World Cup begins in earnest.

“We are planning to use some players who did not get the opportunity to play before now. We want to give them the opportunity to show us what they can offer. Of course we are not planning to lose the game against Algeria but we are already preparing for the World Cup. So you will see new faces in the team,” Rorh said on a television interview monitored in Lagos.

The German-born tactician also said plans are in top gear to engage some European countries in friendly games in the run-up to the World Cup as part of the team’s build-up.

He said: “We will be playing friendly games against some European countries because, as you know, each group at the World Cup will have two teams from Europe so it is good to have a feel of what we are likely going to be coming up against at the competition. We will see who we get when the World Cup draws are made on December 1 but no harm in planning ahead.”

The Super Eagles have qualified for thew World Cup with a game to spare after nicking the sole ticket from Group B ahead of Zambia, Cameroon and Algeria.

Na wa. Is that not the fake lie I pointed? You have gone full circle to the fake lie. That point is not true because Solanke was not piling any pressure on Origi. Origi brings more to the team than Solanke. He was ahead of the pecking order.

Liverpool did not ask Origi to go. He went on his own seeking playing time. You can dine in your self delusion on this issue but you are not deceiving people who can see between the fake lie.

Solanke has had years of exposure to top level football but is yet to show much of that promise. he might still come good but as of now i haven't seen him do anything which i find abit awkward considering that he should be having chances to play based on sadio mane missing alot of liverpool's recent matches and kloop not fancying sturridge that much. so it's logical that the ''hot english prospect'' and u20 mvp should be having playing opportunities but he's chopping bench. if we say we are using past glories of u17 to rate osimhen we shouldn't also use past glories of u20 to over hype solanke. at the moment based on the opportunities and exposure solanke has enjoyed he should be light years ahead of his peers but he's still not doing it. osimhen on the other hand barely 3 years ago was hawking in lagos traffic no professional exposure to football but through hardwork, talent and a bit of good fortune he's now found himself at one of germanys most prestigious clubsides. that wolfsburg is at present battling relegation doesn't mean they are not a solid club. didn't dortmund find themselves in relegation waters in the early part of the season under kloop some years back? so downgrading wolfsburg to slate osimhen as being a poor player is a bit unfair. let's still give him the benefit of doubt and let time judge. rohr has sha not been calling him up if that is what is vexing some of us. i will still give solanke time to prove us his doubters wrong but so far i'm not impressed

How can you say place of birth/Nationality does not count when from the onset, you have things like Homegrown quota and then we have work permit issues?

This is not even up for debate.

In reality the EEC has put paid to that so there is no restrictions on EEC players. Although Traore may be playing for Burkina Faso I suspect he will have an EEC passport.

Although we may have British passports we are still African in perception and outlook. And Black. The issues of discrimination are limited within the London city Region and upwards to the Midlands.

But once you start getting to the North of England things change.

Furthermore I make reference to youth football that's the prime area of discussion. Players are scouted from the age of 4/5 years old and upwards for the youth academy from within thier local catchment areas.

The issues of homegrown at that level are inconsequential. That's why KC is classed as home grown because he came through the Manchester city academy.

Very biased analysis if you think Wigan will do better than Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. It is simply not true. You overrate English football. Comparing League 1 team to a Bundesliga team.

Do you think Wolfsburg is currently better than any premiership team

Well Wigan not too long ago where in the EPL before the got relegated. And are a mere shadow of thier former selves. What I really was trying to highlight is the loss of quality of Wolfsburg when you are on downward spiral. Consider Sunderland are now in the bottom of the Championship facing relegation.

A pragmatic and optimistic assessment considering all things would probably see Wolfsburg at the mid level to bottom level of the Championship, no more in my opinion.

Actually nationality has a huge role to play. From the get go, the veiled glass ceilin tagged "work permit" already restricts players from certain countries. I'm honestly surprised you said nationality doesn't matter.

I saw Traore for the first time in Chelsea pre season some 3-4years ago. He was hands down Chelsea's best player in their US tour. He out performed full international players in Chelsea at that time. I was actually looking forward to see him in the season proper, only to realise he had been sent in loan in Holland.
I followed his progress up, especially when I realised he was the younger brother of the prodigiously talented Allan Traore.
To be honest, I was expecting Kelechi to shape up to be out own Traore. Bearing in mind their presumed skill set (Kelechi's skills have since dissappeared), both South paw, the both pack a good shot to both.

Unfortunately Kelechi have since been converted by Man city to a pragmatic tap in merchant and a willy fox in the box. Sad but true.

The context of this discussion was essentially on youth football. And in thar regard the modalities of youth football are not affected by nationality in the main.

If you have legal status to be in the UK, leave to remain, etc. Then just as your children attend public schools they will not be prevented from playing for thier local football academy. Whether it is Chelsea or Southend United.

So please understand primary context in which this discourse has been progressing.

With regards to skill set. Outside of the top 6/7 premiership teams technical, skill based football is not on the main menu.

I remember Traore as a teenager very skilful but not physically imposing. Going to Holland has helped him immensely. He has developed at a far better rate and with more quality.

I have often said the EPL is the most physically demanding, intense, fast and competitive league in the World.

It is not the most technically adapt there are quite a few superior to it in that regard.

RUMOR: ROHR'S RADAR

Friday Eze, Paul Onuachu In Rohr’s List Of Strikers To Be Monitored Ahead World Cup
October 20, 2017

soccerladuma

A source close to the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has confirmed that two Nigerian strikers who are doing well for their European clubs are currently under the watch of the Franco-German coach.

Konyaspor of Turkey forward Friday Eze who has scored twice in his last three league games ‎is listed among players who are under consideration by the coach of the Super Eagles, who is still in search of an out and out striker as back up to top striker Odion Ighalo.

24 year old Eze was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in Serbia two years ago, when he finished as top scorer with modest side Mladost Lucani with 24 goals to his name, but surprisingly went to the Middle East where he played for UAE side Al-Qadisiya.

Another player high on the list of players pencilled down for monitoring is FC Midtjylland of Denmark forward Paul Onuachu following his fine form in front of goal for the past 18 months both in European and domestic games.

Onuachu is well on course to better his last season tally of 18 goals from 36 games with 7 goals to his name from just nine games played so far in the Danish league, and his form has caught the attention of the technical crew of the Super Eagles.

Of course, I agree with the FIFA Deputy Secretary on this one. People forget that the reason why FIFA ordered the South Africa v. Senegal match to replayed was that there was substantial evidence implicating the Ghanaian referee of match-fixing.

But, so far, there has been no credible evidence of match-fixing from the official who oversaw the game in Uyo.

SARENREN BAZEE INJURY UPDATE: Translated from German football website 90min.de

Hannover 96 Manager sounds hope for Sarenren-Bazee's return this year
Kirsten Nölle
20 OCT 2017

Hannover 96 21-year-old right winger, Noah-Joel Sarenren-Bazee is working hard on his comeback from injury. Contrary to early forecasts, the Nigerian native could return to the pitch possibly this year.

Bazee was officially promoted to the first team in the spring of 2016. Since then, however , Sarenren-Bazee's appearance in the Bundesliga has been cut shut by injury. At the beginning of August this year, the youngster ruptured his tendon in the posterior left thigh during a test match against FC Germania Egestorf. He had been sidelined for a long spell earlier, due to an inflammation in the knee.

According to the latest development, Sarenren-Bazee will soon, finally, be in action for the Hanoverians. It is envisaged that Sarenren-Bazee will return to training in early November. Three weeks ago, he started running for the first time, and has taken his recovery step by step since then. Hannover manager, Horst Heldt refused to raise expectations high: "We have to look how he can stand it."

Sarenren's road to recovery can be seen from his video on his personal Instagram page. The video which shows him in practice gives signs of hope for an early return to the pitch.

Wigan are not better than Wolfsburg. It is as simple as that. You just underrate Other leagues and live in the Euphoria of the hype. Did you see the way Napoli played Manchester City? No team in England can play with such bravery against City. We narrowly escaped with a win due to a foot save of goalkeeper Ederson.

Look at Roma vs Chelsea. It reached a time the Champions of England were trailing. If it was you, you will say Roma is not as good as any top level team in England.

Look at the trials Bayern faced so far this season leading to the sacking of Ancelotti. Contrary to your opinion, other leagues play well.

Incoherent again.

Danny Ings is enough to know that is a joke quote. Even during the preseason, it was clear Origi was ahead of Solanke in pecking order.

The point is Solanke did not push Origi out. He left because of playing time and Solanke was not denying him playing time. Solanke was behind Origi in pecking order.

The point is too simple. It is a wonder how you can drag (not argue) such a simple point.

Dominic Solanke takes pre-season opportunity as Divock Origi strugglesstruggles

HENRY JACKSON
6 AUG 2017

The differing performances of Dominic Solanke and Divock Origi in pre-season have been noticeable, with the new signing taking the opportunity to impress while the Belgian floundered.

We are all too painfully aware that the Reds are in need of strengthening at centre-back, with more shoddy defending on Saturday allowing Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams to equalise.

Some would also like to see reinforcements at full-back and in centre midfield, but in attack, it is hard to complain about the depth at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.

With Roberto Firmino the undisputed first-choice striker going into the new season, plenty of debate has arisen about who his main back-up should be.

Given that Daniel Sturridge carrying a small injury, and Danny Ings is a long way from being match fit, Solanke and Origi are competing to be Klopps back-up forward.

Judging by their respective impacts summer, there is only one winner.

The signing of 19-year-old Solanke wasn’t met with too much excitement this summer, with plenty of reports suggesting the Chelsea youngster was arriving to be part of the under-23s squad initially.

Some stellar performances at the U20 World Cup with England certainly turned heads, however, and he was named the tournament’s best player after the Three Lions’ triumph.

For Liverpool, Solanke then hit the ground running immediately, not looking remotely daunted by joining a club of such stature, and looking far more mature and ready to flourish than even Klopp may have expected – the manager having admitted he knew little of Solanke and trusted his scouts.

Three goals in pre-season have caught the eye, with his first Reds strike a corker against Crystal Palace, and his two headers, which Hertha Berlin and Bilbao were on the receiving end of, weren’t too shabby, either.

It is Solanke’s all-around game that has really impressed, though, with an ability to hold the ball up thanks to his towering frame, as well as possessing a deft touch, good pace and a level of in-game intelligence beyond his years.

If the former Chelsea youngster is only being spoken of in glowing terms right now, things couldn’t be much different with Origi.

The Belgian suffered a poor 2016/17 season, and while 11 goals for the campaign should not be sniffed at, especially when he often featured from the substitutes’ bench, it masked some very lacking displays.

When key attacking players were either injured or unavailable, most noticeably Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane, he failed to be a successful deputy.

It would be incredibly harsh to blame Origi for Liverpool’s alarming capitulation around the turn of the year, but he certainly didn’t help, and the Reds’ forward play dipped hugely with him on the pitch.

This summer provided the 22-year-old with a great chance to prove his worth and show that last season was a blip, but he has disappointed once more.

One solitary goal, a bundled effort in the 2-0 win over Palace, was a rare moment of happiness, but it has otherwise been an ineffective month.

He saved arguably his poorest performance for the end of pre-season on Saturday, and it was only made worse by another influential Solanke display in the second-half.

Two glorious chances were missed during his 45 minutes on the pitch, once when clean-through and the other a header that should have been buried, and he again looked the weak-link in Liverpool’s attacking unit.

His failure to link-up with those around him was a continuous issue, and one of many misplaced passes played a key part in Bilbao’s equaliser.

The chasm in quality between Solanke and Origi has been alarming, especially when you consider the latter is more experienced, and it is a no-brainer as to who should feature more in 2017/18.

We are all guilty of making strong opinions about a footballer early in his Liverpool career – Bjorn Tore Kvarme played like Alan Hansen at first – and it is fair to we’ve been no different with Solanke.

He has undoubtedly looked more polished than a lot predicted, and the confidence and maturity with which he carries himself can only bode well.

We have only seen him in pre-season, however, and when the new Premier League season gets underway, we will see what he is really made of. Heaping too much pressure on him would be needless.

It wasn’t long ago that Origi was scoring home and away against Borussia Dortmund and being pencilled in as a future Anfield star, which goes to show that things can change very quickly.

The Belgium international’s failure to kick on has probably been the key to him falling down the pecking order, rather than Solanke’s excellence, and his Liverpool career is at a crucial stage now.

At 22, he cannot keep being afforded the excuse of having time on his side, and his general decision-making is showing little sign of improving.

It would be wrong to expect enormous things of Solanke from the off, once competitive matches start, but he has to seen as a better option that Origi as things stand.

It is difficult to think of one attribute Origi has that stands out more than his fellow striker – if he doesn’t find an extra gear soon, the gap between the pair will only grow wider.

You are saying because of tolerance in some areas, it is inconsequential as a whole. Seriously, does that add up? Solanke has a push because he is English. Simple as that. If Osimhen was English born and did what he did, he would have a far more thrust in the English game. Same goes for Kelechi Nwakali.

The so called inconsequential birth place is clearly not true.

Seriously, you need to learn how to argue coherently. I am telling you that the Solanke noise is hype. After all the preseason noise of how special Solanke is, he is back to the bench.

There is no way Origi was in Liverpool today that he would have not contributed more. Liverpool has more faith in Chamberlain bailing them out before Solanke when we consider the forward role.

The hype mill should allow the young man work hard than fill his head with fake opinions. Origi is a better player. Unless you have not watched Origi. I have watched Solanke play for Liverpool this season and he does not add as much bite as Origi.

Saying Solanke came from bench and had some good performances in the preseason does not make him a better player than Origi.

Bringing back the article that I agreed with in the same place highlights the incoherence in your debates.

Iheanacho, tap in merchant. SMH.

With the curlers against Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, skinning the keeper I think against Villa, two CNN goals of the week playing for the country (beauties), you still end up with tap in merchant.

Mbok, fear God.

FINLAND: Veikkausliiga - Round 32

INTER TURKU 0-3 HJK (HALF-TIME)

Relatively unknown Nigerian center-back pair, Friday Obilor and Vincent Onovo are helping HJK run riots away to Turku.
The Helsinki side are already up by 3 goals at half time, with Obilor providing one of the goals.

Stop making Vitesse the same as Wolfsburg. Talk like someone who understands football.

Wolfsburg might be having challenges but it is a respected club. Origi having regular playing time in Wolfsburg trumps a third striker in Liverpool. However, a starter in Vitesse can not compare to a third striker in City.

Firmino who is a starter for Liverpool is behind Gabriel Jesus in the Brazilian National team. Firmino will bench in Manchester City. He will not start ahead of Gabriel Jesus or Aguero. Simple logic.

It was City Iheanacho was benching in. Not Liverpool.

Origi is better than Solanke. That is not even up for debate. If Origi was in Liverpool now, Solanke would be behind him in pecking order. It is a big lie saying he chased Origi who is better than him.

Vitesse arnhem is in the same league with Wolfsburg fc based on their exploit in their various leagues and in Europe. Sorry. grin

They are currently both in the Europa League. grin

TheGoodJoe:

This is Nacho's first year as a professional footballer. I believe Nacho getting games with Man City makes him a more rated player than Solanke.

I do not rate regular time over working with the top players and coaches. Nacho also gets to play with these players. The time for game time will come. For now, he is to learn.

Now, answer questions and leave out stories. grin

Do you still believe in what you said in your first paragraph? grin

I mean, Do you believe that Solanke getting games with Liverpool makes him a more rated player than Origi, Osimhen and Iheanacho? grin yeah! my head. *Takes cover* grin

Abi, Klopp and Liverpool players are not top coaches and players? shocked grin

Compare Liverpool with Wolfsburg fc and Leicester-city-fc. Na. grin
