Did Iheanacho come close to the status of Dzeko when0 you claimed he displaced Dzeko? shocked ;D0

Do you mean with or without Iheanacho arrival, Dzeko would have left Manchester City? shocked grin

Pellegrini: I sold Dzeko and Jovetic because of Iheanacho

The 19-year-old took full advantage of Sergio Aguero being rested to score three times in the FA Cup fourth-round tie at Villa Park on Saturday, with Raheem Sterling netting the other in a comfortable 4-0 win.

Dzeko and Jovetic joined Serie A sides Roma and Inter respectively at the start of the season and Pellegrini believes Iheanacho is showing that allowing the more experienced pair to go was the right decision.

"Kelechi is a very good young player," the Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini told BBC Sport.

"We let Jovetic and Dzeko go because I see Kelechi every day and know what he can do. I am very happy.

EX-GOLDEN EAGLET PROGRESS UPDATE

Golden Eaglet Class of 2015, Kingsley Michael made his debut for Bologna Primevera (U19) last weekend. He started as a CM and lasted 73 minutes in their 5-1 home demolition of Chievo U19.

Golden Eaglet Class of 2013, and one-cap Super Eagles Right-Back, Musa Muhammed has been ever present in the Bulgarian top-tier since appearing in Lokomotiv Plovdiv's matchday squad. The defender notched an assist to help them beat PFC Stara Zagora 2-1 away this past weekend. Muhammed who now plays as a left back since his second loan spell from parent club Baseksehir Istanbul, has clocked a possible maximum 360 minutes after four matches.

The Italian league is atop league and technically superior to the EPL. That's what I would say, furthermore I consider it be more competitive as quite a good number of teams are competing for supremacy. Which is very similar to the EPL.

The French league would have been similar but for the massive investment made by PSG which will probably mean they will win it All other leagues. Apart from the Bundesliga all the other top 6 leagues in Europe do not have one team dominating the league as Bayern have for nearly two decades..

Can I add that I have never said that the EPL is the best league in the World.

No, but you think the championship and League One are among the best leagues in the world

Uche Agbo and co had the last laugh after Taiwo Awoniyi brought Mouscron level on the 49th minute. Standard Liege had gone ahead from an own goal just after the half hour mark. But Les Rouches , who paraded Uche Agbo from start to finish ensured that the home fans were punished after converting from the spot in the dying minutes of extra time.

Osimhen and Solanke are not so much dissimilar. You make it sound like there is a gulf in class between those 2.

Solanke is Liverpool's 3rd choice striker while Osimhen is Wolfsburg's 3rd choice. They both have zero goals to their names this seaon, must be said Solanke have more minutes..

You seem to forget that Arsenal wanted Osimhen. Infact, he snapped a picture with Arsene Wenger in London during his visit to the Emirates for contract negotiations. Some rogue agents hijacked the deal and took him to Germany while Arsenal made due with Nwakali.
Why you will say Osimhen can't make any youth team in England is baffling to say the least.

I hate to say this, but the gospel truth is that the last U20 world cup was watered down in quality. Can you compare the standard witnessed in Korea to Nigeria 99,Holland 2005,2007 or even 2009 which Ghana won. Teams like Argentina weren't even in Korea.
If the level of competition was as high as what we were used to, Solanke wouldn't have come close to become Mvp neither would England have won the cup.

Yes Solanke did very well for Chelsea's youth team but you don't know how good Osimhen was for his youth team in Nigeria. He could have scored 100 goals in state competitions in Benin.

Again, I say their records are very much identical.
Argentina actually came but were eliminated at the first round, a tournament where Venezuela abi na Peru and England play the final, that says alot about the quality of such tournament

my brother eh. I was watching the semifinal, eh Venezuela vs Uruguay, it was a shitshow, I am a very patient guy so I just watched the first half, it was like primary school football where one boy thinks he has all the skills and he continues to lose the ball all the time, football without organisation. It was so bad that I found more joy and fun reading my clinical textbooks, it was absolutely poor for a semifinal, I have seen better quality at the U15 level

I will not lie to you. I pondered whether it was the wrong choice Iheanacho not opting for a move to China with Pellegrini. Back then, I did not entertain the idea but today, I feel that was the best decision.

Iheanacho would have made money and continued working with a manager who truly believed in him.

Another person like that is the current Southampton coach, Pellegrino. He followed Benitez like MTN. Everywhere he went.

"Liverpool have indicated they may be prepared to let him leave before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night if they can complete the other business they are looking to do."

Best part of the article. I hope there's something to it.

I said earlier on today we're a bit overloaded with strikers, I think we could afford to lose Origi (or Sturridge or Ings for that matter). Shame really that it hasn't worked out for him, might have been different if Funes Mori wasn't such a massive c*nt.

Replacing Origi with a wide player gives the squad a better balance, hopefully that's Klopp's plan if this goes through.

This is an excerpt from a Liverpool forum before Origi left. You can see Solanke was not in the picture before departure of Origi.

When people say that Solanke chased Origi, it is clear they do not know what Origi brought to Liverpool. He was very comfortable on the wings. Just like Firmino. Something Solanke will need to learn to fit into Klopp's plans. Origi also brought pace and endless running. Something Solanke is yet to bring.

The replacement for Origi in Liverpool is Chamberlain as I pointed out earlier. From the excerpt, you can see that Liverpool were not ready to let Origi go until they secured Chamberlain. Not because of Solanke.

Softly with the hype.

Tomorrow, someone will write Solanke chased Origi from Liverpool.

Solanke ahead of Origi in pecking order and other things learned as Liverpool beat Athletic Bilbao

Jurgen Klopp's men wrapped up their pre-season schedule with a fairly routine 3-1 win over the La Liga side

5th August 2017

Liverpool ended their globetrotting pre-season unbeaten after easing to a 3-1 win over Spanish side Athletic Bilbao at Lansdowne Road in Dublin on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side warmed up for next Saturday’s Premier League opener at Watford with an emphatic friendly victory, leaving them unbeaten inside 90 minutes over eight games that included a 3-0 win over German champions Bayern Munich.

The Reds went into an early lead through Roberto Firmino, before Inaki Williams levelled before half time.

Klopp made 10 changes at the break, and teenage duo Ben Woodburn and Dominic Solanke added two more goals to seal victory.

Here are three things learned from the pre-season run out.

AUTHORITATIVE ATTACK, DISHEVELED DEFENCE

It’s a familiar narrative but the contrary nature of Liverpool’s back and forward line is, well, backwards and forward.

On the attack, the Reds surge with authority and aggression, speed and skill because ultimately they know what they’re doing going forward.

But defensively, it’s a complete juxtaposition. Much like last season, Dejan Lovren was frequently caught out of position and playing catch up to make amends, when he didn’t Bilbao pounced as was the case with their equaliser.

It’s not just Lovren, though, the whole back line lacks urgency, they are blind to danger until it smacks them in the face, unless, of course, they are creating the trouble for themselves with careless passing.

It’s mystifying that they have failed to repair the one issue which is so blindingly obvious. Signing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton could be their last acquisition of the summer and it would certainly represent their most important.

SOLANKE IS AHEAD OF ORIGI

Liverpool’s starting front four is frightful. Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino scream dynamism and fluidity, giving Liverpool fans plenty to shout about.

Behind that fantastic four, Liverpool are blessed with quality alternative options and the best of lot is Dominic Solanke.

The 19-year-old was introduced at half-time as Klopp changed his entire outfield from the first 45 and he was undoubtedly the standout.

His hold-up play was strong and his distribution smart and while Divock Origi was the chief attacking option from the bench last season, Solanke may well have superseded him.

The summer signing cut-back brilliantly for Ben Woodburn’s goal, almost forced an own goal with another cross and then produced a headed finish a twin to his one against Hertha Berlin.

He’s a mobile target man and one who has made a big impression during the pre-season outings.

Ben Woodburn goal, great finish, quality cut back from Solanke

That's why it is called pre season because its not a competitive game of football.

Using this yardstick Gent beat Tottenham in a competitive game. The same Tottenham that held Real to a draw and neatly beat them.

So Gent is now better than Tottenham. One game doesn't decide quality but a series of games and over all performance.
at least it shows Belgian league isn't bad at all, and given the right circumstance they can hold their own against English opponents

They are considered better than Kelechi Nwakali not because of talent but because of where they were born. So why say where a player is born is not relevant when it is very clear in England.

With regards to youth football access has nothing to do with nationality.

Most of the boys making waves in English football started in some of these academies at the age of 6/7.
Thier nationality was totally irrelevant what was pertinent is that at the initial stage they were within the local catchment area of the club and thier quality.

My reference point is youth academy football.

Late entrants to the academy system can be hampered not by race but by nationality.. As regulations concerning work permits will restrict thier acces to professional football in the UK.

The overriding issue will be quality. For Nwakali and Osimhen to be given straight access to these clubs. They must be recognised and established as exceptional talent above and over what is available in the UK.

The reality is that Osimhen and Nwakali are not exceptional world class talent. Now compare them to Gabriel Jesus who is in the same age group has light up the EPL and ripped up the script. within weeks.

That's not to say Nwakali and Osimhen are not very good players. But having played in the Eredivisie Nwakali has not set it on fire and neither has Osimhen. Until they do that access to opportunity in the EPL may be problematic.

Don't forget that KC came off the back of his performances in the U17 world cup as exceptional outstanding talent. Indeed for a time proved for the whole world to see his excellent quality That's why Leicester paid near £30 million for him.

So I reiterate that the issue is outstanding quality not nationality. To say that Nwakali is better than the top boys in Arsenal is to be biased the thing you have accused me of. Arsenal will only consider him as a possible future first team player just as Iwobi is.

Now consider where Iwobi was at at Nwakali age and you see there is much work for Nwakali to do.

Bayern Munich's status in the Champions League, where in recent occasions have made it more to the Semi-finals of the Champions League shows their dominance in the Bundesliga is not as a result of playing weak teams. Apart from Real Madrid and Barcelona, no other team has been as consistent as Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Consider how many Champions League finals they have played in recent years.

People try to write off Bundesliga because of the dominance of Bayern Munich forgetting that in the Champions League, Bayern Munich has also been dominating.

Look at the league today, Werder Bremen is in the relegation area. That shows you the strength of the league. Not using the dominance of one of the strongest team in Europe.

You rated Wigan in league 1 above Wolfsburg without the fear of God.
exactly the season Dortmund dominated the league, they extended it to Europe which means if you are strong enough to dominate Bayern Munich then other European teams shouldn't be a big deal
