If it is not Bonny Ways luxurious, I ɗon't go long trips with small ɓuses. Even the "luxurious" sef, you would have to conɗemn 24 hours of ƴour life to misery from Jos to Lagos!

I had the worst experience with cross country during my service year. Ibadan to Jos precisely. I told myself I won't travel in their vehicle again.
This guys used 16 hours to get to Abuja
We ended up sleeping at their park at Utako in Abuja while mosquito bit the hell out of me. cry

I learnt to always break my journey when traveling long distance.

I don't know why no one has thought of starting his own transport company along with excellent customer service and send all these illiterates out of business. That's a very huge goldmine in this country.

I have also had a similar experience with cross country bus from Sokoto to Lagos where we were asked to sleep on the road close to gwagwalada bcoz the bus broke down on the road with nursing mothers and elderly women and men till the next day for another bus to pick us. I left that night and not knowing the fate of the other people that waited behind. Its quite pathetic that Nigerian transport companies are yet to realize that their bills are paid by the customers.
We need a body that will regulate the activities of these transport companies cos they are almost the same will it comes to ill treatment of their customers.

The reason why most businesses in Nigeria fail is because of poor quality management...

When I say management I'm not referring only to the senior staff, it encompasses everybody cos the success or failure of a business does not depend only on one individual

Another issue is the Nigerian factor - An average Nigerian employee is dishonest and will steal you blind once you look away for 5 minutes.

If you doubt me, ask Dangote and the multinational companies operating in Nigeria why they don't have Nigerians as the Managing Directors in their various companies

It's not a funny story... but it's funny sha.
In all my cross country travels from port Harcourt to sokoto or Lagos to north, there is rarely none of them without incidence. I have come to accept armed robbery attacks as a normal routine of travel. But I have learnt a way to beat that.
Most of these established transport companies are have nonsense customer service because they believe you the passenger can't do shait, which is largely true.
Whenever you must travel by road, make sure you ask to see the vehicle, dont ask the loaders or the supposed driver but ask directly from any driver you see in his vehicle, plan your trip to stop at dusk at designated places you can lodge overnight.
But then, not all things can be fore-planned. Sorry for your experience but it's normal routine.

Please how do you beat armed robbery attacks

Lol.... Cross Country is the worst transport company I've ever taken when travelling.

My first time going to Ghana, I went with them. They'll tell you they'll start the journey by 6am, journey won't start until 9 or 10am. You'll now enter Ghana around 1am the next day (all this delay and all happened in all the 4 times I went with them).

Had some friends that were coming back to Nigeria with cross country. As usual, cross country told them to come by 5am this time. Their bus didn't leave the park until 11am. They were still in Ghana as at 4pm. They slept at aflao border that day and got into Nigeria the next day in the morning/afternoon.

Since I noticed all these things, I vowed not to do anything with them again. Now GUO is BAE.
GUO would leave Ghana 6am and I'll be at iyana ipaja by 3pm..... My house by 4 or 5pm.

Instead of u to online com spoil business for the company while u nor just stop patronizing them?

Do u know that what you just did can make the company go extinct?
This is exactly the mentality Nigerians have.. a mentality that supports mediocrity and complacency.. so because you don't want the company to fold up, you would rather put your fellow countrymen in harm's way? what if the robbers had guns? what if they had been killed?.. I believe this "cross country " ( or one corner, call it whatever the hell you like )company must have had ample time to readjust themselves.. I will not sacrifice my safety for a company who don't give two hoots about my life.

Sorry. Never ever travel with Cross Country again. tongue

I'm very sure one of their PRs will soon storm nairaland with some pre-written jargon to do damage control. If you fall for it, na your head be that. tongue

The first and last time I traveled with them was in 2006, Port Harcourt to Abuja, the useless driver was driving at the speed of light and nearly got us killed in that same Abuja entrance you wrote about.
The last straw for me was when the driver abandoned at that Airport road junction (the one they used back then) after I told him I wanted to quickly ease myself just a few metres from where the bus was parked to drop some passengers who were going to Kaduna. He quickly sped even while I was chasing after the bus.
I took another vehicle and managed to track down their office (I was new to Abuja) at that late hour. I started throwing demanding to see the driver and the manager only for them to tell me he had closed for the day.

Since then, except I physically see Jesus Christ in a cross country vehicle, I will never enter their vehicles again. angry

Well,i boarded cross country bus once last year when i was going to nysc camp at anambra from calabar.that was my first time of leaving cross river and akwa ibom states and it was a nice experience.the driver was good, the bus was comfortable, spacious with a good ac and two tvs.the journey from calabar to onitsha lasted 5 hours.the branch at calabar is well organised with good functioning buses and they are punctual.there was no bad incidence during the trip except that the driver only played phyno's songs like connect repeatedly.before then,i hated phyno but after the journey,i fell in love with connect and phyno.finally, their fare is expensive so i switched to peace mass which is far cheaper.

If you love your life avoid cross country at all cost . My only experience with them was during service Ibadan to nasarawa ....oboy I nearly had an heart attack ..the driver was totally reckless, over speeding and no regard for other road users at all. The bus broke down twice , it was later we even got to know that the driver was just coming from Niger state.

The respected Transport vehicles group in Nigeria are

God is Good Motors (GIGM)
The Young Shall Grow
Agofure Motors
Iyare Motors

The worst are;
Peace Transit
Cross Country

There is no time I board the useless cross country bus without having a complain. Very wicked transport group with high charges and horrible customer service experience

OP,learn how to break long distances travel, e.g Lagos to abuja (God is Good),then abuja to jos (blue whale) to avoid story that touch. Your can not compare the reliability and efficiency of a bus that has been on the road for almost 13 to 14 hours for months and a bus that is on the road for an average of 8/9 hours
