Rubbish. Standard of education is showing no signs of improvement yet the tuition fees keep sky-rocketing like they are heading into space.

Those parents that attend the forum have their kids already in school or almost out while the new school fee will not affect them.

Back in 2013, ASUU was told by govt then that the 2009 agreement guaranteeing 3 trillion naira in extra funding was not possible.

This fee increase is the result

Hmmm.....

This matter pass politicos

In 2009 Yaradua promised ASUi 3 trillion naira in additional funding.

In 2013, GEJ told ASUU the truth, the money was not available

Fees increase were just a matter of time.

So, unless you want govt now to take 3 trillion out of next years bubget of 8 trillion and spend on universities so that you can enjoy low fees....or you have 5 trillion naira to spend...this is the new reality.

How do you people expect universities to fund themselves properly with fees lower than $200 a year?

No, seriously?

Either govt finds 3 trillion or more for our universities in EXTRA funding, or we accept continuous strikes, ad universities find it difficult to pay for bills/ facilities/learning materials, etc.

What warrant the increment? Is there any expansion to the school, or any special activity that the student would benefit from increasing the fee?

Honestly, we are still not getting our priority right when it comes to education matter in this country.

At the end after paying exorbitant rate for school fees, some people would still be rooming about with their certificate looking for jobs.

God would help us in this country.

The student and parent on seeing the increment would be like

HOW do you expect universities to fund themselves properly when govt does not have 5 trillion or more naira to give them.

Education ain't cheap, and money does not grow on trees.

what are you trying to explain here hmmm. why can't FG make the university tuition to be free? As it stand it is still the poor masses that will suffer for it. what's the essence of spending that huge amount and still roaming around the street. so so pathetic situation we find our self. as far as am concern, increment in the fees doesn't raise the standard of the school. but only increase the level of corruption of the school management.

This is a very good development, Primary school and secondary school fees should be increased. I am in total support of fees increase and proper education for the serious minded.

I am a Ladokites, I used to tell my colleagues that the only way through is increment of school fees. If uniosun doesn't increase there fee to fund the school, Lautech 18month strike will be a child's play in compare to what will happen to them

University must be funded , either by government or student fees , but if the government refuse to fund the school, because there wards are not affected, then students must be made to pay for it , to run the school. Everything boils to good governance.

N.b Am not in support of the increment, but I think it is necessary evil, until the electorates can look beyond sentiments , tribe and religion and vote for servants to rule.

you have make your salient points here, but please don't compare lautech to uniosun. lautech is very big to stand on their own and still improve on their IGR. it is the useless government that's not doing the needful in all our tertiary institutions that are compound a lot of issues in all our institution. why can't you ask question from unilorin management on how they manage their university. for a decade now, there's no increment in unilorin fees.and still it is been rated among the best 5 university in Nigeria. lautech you mention here was one of the best state university before. if not the two governors that destroyed the school the more, it is still among the best state universities. it is still the poor masses that will suffer for it. google german government on how they are funding their schools. as it stand 80% of germany universities are free. free tuition with enough IT training covered. the same Uniosun Vc will embezzle the money and still increase it more. students will surely protest on the increase of the fees. it will affect the stalites too. no hope for poor breeds.
